  • Here I answer 10 questions about my blindness and how it is to be visually impaired. This is a rather old tag so I wasn't sure whether or not I wanted to do this video but since I was tagged pretty recently by my friend Carrie from the channel Live Accessible (link below) I decided to finally give it a go.

    Great video! I can relate to all your points. My cataracts in my one barely working eye really gives me a fit in stores with extremely harsh fluorescent overhead lighting.

      Indoor fluorescent lights are the worst in my opinion. It’s one thing for the sun to be overwhelming for the eyes, but to have artificial lights have a similar effect…That’s not cool.

      Thanks Matt, I didn’t realize how long the video was going to be actually. The questions start adding up and I had to start trimming pieces here and there of several answers just so I can have a video that would be under 10 minutes.

    Great video! I’ve also gotten the lasik questions many times and it’s sooo annoying!! Side note: I feel you, I was also hoping that San Jose would’ve beaten the blues and went to the finals!

      Gotta love the LASIK and glasses question huh? As for the Sharks. They were facing a very motivated Blues team and their goalie was playing great too. Hopefully they can do better next year. I’ve been a fan for 25 years and have seen my share of playoff disappointment by the Sharks.

      Cap fan friend? Are you referring to the Washington Capitals? I’m just asking since I briefly brought up hockey in the video.

    Fewar ti see Juan. All of this VIP malarky is still pretty new to me - coming up to 11 months now. Loved watching your vid (have watched many of yours over recent months. I agree with so much of what you have said, and I too am finding the blind community just AMAZING. I DID think my life was over for sure when I lost my sight... thanks to my rehab guy, you and others like you - I know that my initial thoughts are certainly NOT the case. Onwards and upwards

      Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching my videos. Yes at first adjusting to this whole site loss thing can be pretty hard, but once you find a group of people that share something similar it can be really awesome. For me it was a couple of groups on Facebook and the blind/visually impaired UA-cam community as well.

    Thanks for sharing about you life and experiences. Believe me or not once I resigned to a job in part because a coworker complained about the benefits that blind or visually impaired people receive. At that time I did not want to get in to argumentations with no one. Because of that situation I just decided to leave that job.

    • @JuanAlcazar
      @JuanAlcazar  5 років тому

      That’s pretty messed up of them to complain like that especially if they don’t know what it’s like to have a visual impairment.

    It's awesome that you e VIP tag! ☺️ ☺️ That's awesome Juan! And yeah, we're getting free bulkhead seats from the airline because we're and they went ahead and make sure that we are all sitting together. also it used to be that we got to cut the lines for certain amusement parks. Wish it was still like that for Disney world! ☹️

    • @JuanAlcazar
      @JuanAlcazar  5 років тому

      Thanks Carrie. Oh also didn’t they have to adjust those rules at Disney World for the lines because too many people were abusing or trying to work around those rules?

    This was interesting to hear, it's cool that you seem much more comfortable talking about all sorts of things that matter to you, or that you live with. I usually have everything in dark mode and low brightness, I feel it's more comfortable, or easier to see, not sure which. Or both. I remember when I used to forget my glasses at home when I was at school I would recognize blurry people by the way they walk, before that I had no idea how unique every person's gait is. Thankfully with my glasses I see nearly everything perfectly fine. Out of curiosity, did you try lasik and it failed or did you just know it doesn't work for you?

    • @JuanAlcazar
      @JuanAlcazar  5 років тому +1

      Oh that’s pretty cool how you were able to tell people apart by the way they walked on days where you forgot your glasses.
      One time I asked and I doctor about having LASIK surgery and they told me immediately that that was not an option for me at all.

      Oh nice. Are you following the playoffs this year? Just wondering because so far the Sharks have given me a lot of nervousness during the playoffs. I swear this stuff is not good for my health LOL.

    • @TommyGuns84
      @TommyGuns84 5 років тому

      No, not really. Not since I was a kid. But, I like hearing about them going to the playoffs when they go. I still wear my sharks hats even tho I don’t follow them. 😅

    • @JuanAlcazar
      @JuanAlcazar  5 років тому +1

      Ah ok. They had quite the comeback win a few weeks ago. Down 3-0 with 10 minutes to go in game 7 and they score 4 goals in 5 minutes. They then win the game and series in overtime. Unless they win the Cup that’ll be the most exciting moment from them that I’ve ever seen.

      2016 was their best year. They made it to the Finals for the very first time. Unfortunately they lost to the Penguins in 6 games.
