Having family in Findochty must make your visits there even more special! It's a lovely village, and having a good pub by the harbour sounds like the perfect spot to enjoy some quality time with loved ones. The combination of family, picturesque surroundings, and a cozy pub sounds like a recipe for wonderful memories. Cheers to many more enjoyable moments in Findochty! 😍
Worked with some ex fisher men from Findochty, great lads, in case you don't know, its pronounced Finn Echty, the echt part being gutteral. There are many villages in Scotland that generally only locals know the pronunciation, one near me is Finzean, pronounced Fing ann
Thanks for sharing that! It’s always great to learn about the local pronunciations-Findochty is definitely one of those places where the accent and sounds can surprise you. And Finzean is another perfect example of how some village names are pronounced differently than they might seem at first glance. It’s always nice to hear these insights from people who know the area! 😍
Its peaceful atmosphere allows for a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Many visitors and home owners appreciate the opportunity to relax and enjoy the natural beauty and slower pace of life there.
Hi, I am actually relocating to this area due to a job transfer. It looks very clean and tidy. I should be there at the end of November/ Start of December 2024. It will be a different lifestyle from living in Glasgow, any tips or areas that are not so good?
That's exciting! Welcome to Findochty! It’s a lovely area with a beautiful coastal vibe. I recommend exploring the local nature trails and getting to know the community. As for areas, I haven’t noticed any significant issues, but it’s always good to stay informed about local news and events. Good luck with the move!
If you're from Glasgow you shouldn't have any issues, I'm from the north east of Scotland and most decent folk here will tell you they have huge respect for the Weegies, generally very friendly and kind people, full of spirit and the craic. Rangers aren't too popular though, most folk are Dons fans, with a lot of Highland league supporters also (apologies if you're (hard line) Rangers).
