Why you should watch The Blob remake this Halloween

Over on their Patreon, Will and Kevin are doing a 31 Days of Horror series recommending genre films with the help of past and special guests of the podcast. One week in and Kevin is back for Saturday's selection and it's one of his all-time favourite horror films. Chuck Russell's The Blob remake from 1988, co-written by Frank Darabont and starring Shawnee Smith, Kevin Dillion, and Donovan Leitch. There have been a few standouts regarding great genre remakes, namely John Carpenter's The Thing, Cronenberg's The Fly, and the third in that '80s triptych of bangers is The Blob. A remake of the 1958 B-movie monster flick starring Steve McQueen, the '80s remake is meaner, nastier, gorier, and balls-out fun. The special effects are some of the best the eighties had to offer.
