    I would test if the camera works before replacing all panels :)

    Great video! Helped me install the camera I bought off Amazon. Be careful if you get that one, the bolt on the back is only 1/4", so don't drill a 3/4" like the video shows. The fishing through the rubber boot off the hatch back was the trickiest part especially getting the boot back on. Overall it was pretty easy, just time consuming.

      Bryan Galaz hello
      Could you please tell me if the display of camera including guidelines were centered?
      Because the emplacement is off centered.

    Best played with sound off and at .25 speed. Great video explanation!

    Thanks for the video!
    Installed a backup camera from Amazon for $13 + $18 wireless transmitter so I didn't have to fish wires (highly recommend). I just tapped into the red and black wire @6:10 and did not use an adapter ($20 amazon). Took about 2 hours mostly finding where to tap into power and video.
    Tips:
    Get a 170° camera $13
    Buy a wireless transmitter $18
    Buy T-Taps for your wires $4
    Buy the adapter to save time $20
    Carefully remove the stock camera panel 00:28 it is held by two clips on the sides. Don't break this!

      Can I ask what camera/wireless transmitter you got? That sounds way easier, but i didnt see any that seemed compatible

    I was thinking I'd get a camera and install it myself. After seeing this video, I know that I can do it in two easy steps: 1. Buy camera; 2. Pay somebody to install it.
    Seriously, though, I'm glad I saw this video before ordering a camera because I just bought my Prius about three hours ago. If I tore into it that far my wife would kill me and I'd probably break more than a few things. This video just saved my hiney.

      It really wasn't that hard. The worst part is threading the wire through the black rubber seal/tube thing. Everything else was pretty straight forward. The panels come off and go back on easily, you just have to take your time and be gentle. I'm really glad I did it myself.

      Vares65 Is your camera centered ( the display abd guidelines).
      Because I installed the camera on the original emplacement and I got off centered guidelines

    • @Vares65
      @Vares65 7 років тому

      No, it angles downward a little too much but it's still usable. The directions mention that it might need some shims to get the angle just right but the problem is that it would be very difficult to get the plastic insert the camera is attached to back out to adjust the angle. I've been trying to decide if it's worth the effort or not. It's perfectly functional right now, mostly it's an aesthetic thing.

    • @Ayyjob
      @Ayyjob 7 років тому

      Vares65 so your guidelines are correct?
      They are not a bit off centered to the left? Because of the physical emplacement of the cam?

    The camera they send you is different that the one in the video. the fast forwarding of the video gives you a headache as you try and follow the steps. I have to rewind over and over because they do not show you the steps as the actually are in your car.

    Did it, but it took me almost 4 hours! Used WD40 for the lubricant because I didn't have any silicon lubricant. Getting through the rubber hose was probably the hardest part along with fishing here and there. Will help to have something to fish. They use a long white ziptie in the video but that is not provided.

    • @StevenPenny
      @StevenPenny 8 років тому

      Any idea if there is enough room for another thicker wire? I work in IT so I have access to fish tape/sticks(fiberglass pole) and wire lubricant. The fish sticks/tape is about as thick as a large wire.

    • @jonyen85
      @jonyen85 8 років тому

      Yeah, there's quite enough room for a thicker wire. I actually ended up snapping my video cable along the way and had to solder it back together.

      I tried to get it off as well, ended up breaking it. But at least I was able to figure out the part number on the back: 76812-47030
      May as well just buy a new part and destroy the old one.

      I used a combination of lever in the hole prying enough to open a gap, then I used the trim tool to shove in there and lever it out from the side. It took quite a bit of force, but it's doable. The retention clips are very large, one on each side, so that's what makes it difficult.

    Anyone figure out how to get the license plate light assembly out? The video jumps from remove bulb connector to the light being loose. There are a couple clips that looks like if you press in they will release, but no go on my 2010.

    • @hebronmak
      @hebronmak 3 роки тому

      This was a difficult piece to get out. I probably did it wrong, but I just kept on prying on it and increased pressured until it popped out! When I put it back, it is a little looser than before, but it still works fine.

    I got the SallyBest camera from Amazon: amzn.com/B00VUSVM8U
    This seems to be the camera that they used.
    I hooked it up directly to an aftermarket stereo and it works. Had a bunch of mishaps along the way though. I snapped the composite video cable while trying to thread it through the rubber gaskets. I didn't use lubricant, so it didn't move through very smoothly. I ended up splicing the cable back together with a soldering iron and electrical tape, so it worked out for me. All in all, it was fraught with a lot of problems on the way, but it was a good learning experience for me.
