If it competes with an XC40 that means also with an X1 and NOT an X3. X3 is in the same segment as Q5, GLC and XC60! XC40 would be X1, Q3 and GLA. So which segment is it?

Love the fact that Cadillac does their touch screen integration into the dash not sitting on it like an after thought! Still not a seamless voice activated system but cue seems to be more responsive! Keep improving & stay committed to design enhancements/integration & you'll have much success!

Great review. This is one of the best I have seen from this channel. I think this crossover made it to my buy list. I dont like crossovers at all, but this one does it well. It just doesn't look like a car that someone stuck an air hose in and blew it up to make a crossover. Looks great

They're optimized for the way most buyers will use them. What off-road capability is left is a fig leaf for the fact it's a $55k (with options) hatchback with extra height for easier accessibility.

And that's how skewed our idea of car height has gotten. Anything over five feet overall height should count as a tall car - I think the lowest four-door ever was the original Acura Integra at just over 50" OAH.

owned our luxury (base) level XT4 for 8 months now. We love it! Great power on highway and street, great blend between luxury and sport ride quality, and good size back seat and trunk. Down sides: the base model doesnt have seat memory (sucks with a short wife), the doors don't make a nice sound when they close (I think its the side mirrors rattling, that shouldnt happen in a luxury car). Other than that. I love my XT4 and highly recommend.

GREAT video, shows off the great lines of this CUV. No 4 cylinder of any kind should go into a Cadillac, ever. It's the heart of a car. And this engine screams "cheap." That's everything a Cadillac is NOT supposed to be. Also the steering wheel would look good (not great, just good) in a Chevy Spark.

A very nice looking smaller crossover. I seriously doubt they will sell many fully loaded 55k dollar versions. But, they will sell quite a few 45-47k dollar, nicely appointed versions. And, a great many base versions at 36k. In fact, this is likely my wife's next new vehicle. She currently has a late model SRX Luxury Edition and wants something smaller. XT4, you came out just at the right time for this guys wife.

Personally, I think the team of Cadillac did a great job however at $55k on this model as it sits its a bit high I was thinking more in the price point of $40-45k max. I'm in the market for a similar size such as Lexus, BMW, Audi, GMC, Ford, I'm almost positive I going with Volvo XC40 T5 AWD R Design with the racing Polestar tuning.

  • @jeffs6090

I hope the 237hp is enough and doesn't feel too sluggish.
It's all new from the ground up, just like my XC40. I'll test drive this when it comes out, but I'm guessing the Volvo will end up being better. Plus, it's about $10k less than the Caddy when both are fully loaded.

Pretty nice looking vehicle but that price tag is going to be tough. Opting out of AWD may save enough for the average consumer but many need AWD. However, no AWD means less weight and based on the powertrain will get good power-to-weight ratio similar to XC40. I would get the XT4 for power, size, decent fuel economy, and comfort for the price. The competition is really heating up. UX is coming into the picture soon too.

The Fast Lane Car I Saw one of these on the road the other day. Caught my eye because of how different it looks. I didn't catch much coverage on the interior fit and finish from you. The commands you were using to control the temperature were probably not the right ones, which is why it didn't work. We'll see how it does in a crowded field. Lease payments on one will be interesting considering that they incentive the XT5. Most companies don' t like discounting a fresh brand new product, so it could cause some crossover payments.

  • @mrpmj00

    I just test drove it.
PRO: quieter and better ride than Lexus NX and Lexus ES350. Lots of power once you get past the turbo lag. Very nice interior with carbon fiber that has 2 colors.
CON: slight turbo lag in the first 2 seconds. My 10 year old 2008 Scion xB with a 2.4 litre naturally aspirated engine does NOT have turbo lag.

So... What we did here was .... We took the mazda grill and put a caddy logo on it. We also took the turbo version Mazda CX7 motor and tweaked it just a little, basically we added a larger turbo and exhaust and adjusted the valve timing.....that's it. It rides on malibu chassis. Really the only thing distinct is the body panels, lights and seating. We did this to save money. Oh yea and we even used the shytty radio out of a new, Ford Escape. We really went for a botched version of the CX7 here and over charge the efff out of customers. 50k dollars , who wouldn't want one? Enjoy!

Plastic cladding has to be black. It's there as a styling trick to disguise floor-to-ceiling height as ground clearance/ride height. Maybe it'd look better if it were gloss black or very dark metallic gray.

This doesn't look like a baby Escalade to me at all. It looks exactly like their old crossover SUVs. And also, no mention of its American direct competitor the Lincoln MKC?

I found the engine noisy. Reminds me of the iron Duke 2.5 tech 4 from the 80's and 90's. The old 2.0 in the ATS and CTS is quieter but plenty quick enough to get you moving.

Can you get the 6.2 in it? Xts v the explorer sport killer. The voice controls are awesome. 👎👎 looks good though.

Nicely done promo video for GM's Caddy division. Not complaining, it just is what it is, and it's an advertisement. This is a little small for me to consider but I'm sure many will be happy with it.

Promo really?! When is the last time you saw an ad where the voice tech failed to work?

We really hate passive aggressive comments. Any comment that starts with “sorry” or “I’m not complaint” is always never sorry and certainly complaining.

Guilty as charged. I have a sister who does the same thing so it may be genetic, but that's no excuse. My sincere apologies, really.

Nice looking but enough with all the driver distracting tech crap. How bout a 6 cylinder instead of the over pushed 4 cylinder engines.

200 mile range EV version would have been great around $50k, this is just another "me too" product. GM is playing catch up again.

JIGA BACHI so you’d rather wrench on a turbocharged four banger than say, a Buick 3800? The old pushrods were so simple and in my experience reliable.

I miss the haptic feed back of the SRX we had. It just made sense and give the car more character and usability.

I wish that there was a way to reach more of the public about Cadillac. My $70000 CTS was in the shop for repairs and recalls 24 times in 3 years. My neighbors Escalade was in the shop 53 times in 3 years. The company doen't care. Don't get me started on the new CT6 for $88000.

Could the touchscreen be any smaller! It’s an antique gas guzzler right off the assembly line. Love the way the voice recognition works! This is Classic GM.
