Get rid of all that junk and give us a guess ...How long will the battery 🔋 run the heater ? That's all the public wants to hear . 1hr or 10 hrs 🤔 Now, wasn't that easy.
Similarly to what Roy said, I too have a 100ah marine deep cycle battery and my unit runs for over 3 days or 72 hours at various pump rates without recharging but usually less than half speed and so far has never gone below 12v. but I charge it before it gets too low cuz I don't want to cause damage to the battery. I have a small solar system but don't have the heater connected to it yet mainly because I just bought my heater 6 weeks ago and now after using it realize I want to install it in a basement area of my large tiny home (500sqft) because of it's noise when on high settings. I also want to connect it to a much larger tank to avoid filling tank daily when weather is very cold. the heat versus cost is better than electric or propane. I also have a wood stove but since becoming disabled (because of a drunk driver) it's hard to carry or process firewood, but even if buying firewood I think this heater is cheaper.
See a variety of comments. Some concerned no cool down when you get error low voltage message. We do not have the answer to how long can you run a Ebay Heater on a battery. We do know at some point it will be destroyed or go through the normal shutdown and ready for another day. Possibly you could get the answer by letting it happen and if no cool down have a second battery ready to go for the cool down.
Yes mine runs a cool down cycle when the battery voltage gets low. If the unit just powered off without the cool down cycle it will literally fry the ecu.
@roerx8542 people do this demo once to prove it doesnt happen but keep on doing it and it will die eventually. the fan needs to run and so does the glow plug in its shutdown proceedure if you cut the power it cant go through the cool down proceedure, it will blow the caps eventually or the bridge rectifiyer probably the most sensative componant on the ecu board.
Glow plug will draw 8 to 10 amps for about 3 min then it goes down to about 2.5 amps on high. At least that's what I measure on mine with a deep cycle 100ah I get 12 hours plus on high
I hope youve got a 20amp fuse inline to protect the electrics of the heater, my 75amp car battery runs my 2 kw heater for 30 hours before it needs a recharge thats three days of use to me. my 2 kw is heating my home to 20 degrees C for 10 hours a day. it is 6 times cheaper to run the heater than use my 32 kw gas boiler to heat my home. the lowest voltage has been 11.2 volts but the heater will still run even down to 6.0 volts, basically the heater will kill your car battery if you let it. best way to run it is with a 12amp car charger inline not an electronic charger as it wont run while the heater is running, you need an old style non-elctronic charger which will charge anyway.I usually start the heater every morning with the charger connected and then disconnect the charger once it is warmed up so that the battery gets cycled properly.
To Mary; connect it to the battery! the longer the distance the bigger the cable diameter will need to be to get the startup amps needed for the glow plug.
I’m contemplating fitting a diesel heater in our VW T5 camper van and I’m thinking it might be a good idea to have the engine running and charging the battery during the warm up period when it’s drawing the most amps.
@@robincrawford4815It’s not proved necessary have been away this weekend while we had snow and had the heater on all night (set @ 18*c) and the leisure battery was still over 12 volts in the morning ! I had an Eberspacher airtronic 2 fitted and it’s been great to be honest 18*c was too warm during the night will try 16*c next time, I don’t know about the Chinese heaters but the Eberspacher cuts in and out according to the temperature in the van so doesn’t run continuously this uses very little fuel and probably helps conserve the battery too.
@@oojimmyflip We are trying different things at the moment to see what works well for us but 15*c sounds about right, we have slept out at 6*c outside temperatures without any heating and that was a bit chilly but bearable. The whole point of fitting the heater is to expand the amount of time we can use the van.
Good vid i have a question tho , im hooking up the diesel heater and i have a 100 watt solar panel setup, and that is connected to the battery do i hook it to the battery or to the solar charge controller, everything went smooth till i got to this point, lol
Just so your commentators know a lead acid battery has zero charge at 10.5 volts. The fact that the heater was still was running below that shows that the readout could be off slightly do to voltage drop in the line. Same with your tester. You shut it down just in time or the heater electronics could have melted down due to the heat not being shed before shutdown was complete.
My understanding is that the 5 and 8kw heaters is exactly the same unit. Don't remember exactly how much they really can pump out but some channels have done the math on it. Diesel contains a certain amount of energy and they used that number combined with the fuel consumption to get the kw of heat. Edit. David tested this in this video ua-cam.com/video/0o38XKrTRkI/v-deo.html With i really big pump he got up to 5.6kw of heat. 8kw should consume 777ml of fuel per hour and it's not really doable
He did have it friggin cranked so it was probably drawing more then normal I'm guessing 2-3a. That group 75 battery had according to Google 44-60ah of which half of that is usable. If it got down to 9v it used more than half.

18 guage wire should be enough for about 5 meters length.

@@AJ-qn6gd most people prefer a cool bedroom as they have a lot of quilts over them to keep warm, try 15 degrees.

To the 12 v output of the charge controller, it’ll cut off power if the batteries run low

the exhaust run is wrong. Its going to flood and block the heater.

It will flatten a battery I've done it no damage to the heater mine was about 10v when it stopped

Your battery is pooched, That heater draws only 15 watts on low setting, 25 watts on high, after warm up. Battery should last easily 24 hours
