Hi Susie, ferry rides have their own "challenges" that's not pressure-related ü It'salso mostly having to do with sea movement and of course, the sea itself being that passengers literally have to traverse from land to sea to get into the vessel =) Anyhow, it's a great time for you to be traveling at under 6 months which could be more tricky ü We love Bacolod and Iloilo a lot ourselves. Most of Central Visayas are really chill which adds to the charm of the region, it wouldn't be any surprise having it up on your list of places to live =) Oh, it's a Spanish derivative "J," butis pronounced an "H" by the Pinoys, so Jaro be like "HAh-roh" (like "Juan" - "hoo-WAHn"). Since you were in Jaro, I hope you were able to visit the magnificant Miag-ao ("Meeh-yag-AWW") Church, Susie and Jonathan. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site and you'd see why ü I hope they allowed you to fly your drone and for shots of the upper portions of the facade and ornate church exterior details. It's also different from other Hispanic churches because of its main structural material: the reddish/brownish adobe blocks. As @edesonyparroza92 commented, the Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo in January will happen-an older festival far bigger in terms of attendance and participation with similarities to the Masskara you experienced; no less as cheerful as expected yet varied on many levels-they're almost the twin fiestas in that part of the country although 3 months apart. As always, travel safe!
Iloilo is a historical city. It has lots of museums and old churches. Iloilo is also the only gastronomic city in the Philippines nominated by UNESCO. It is also nominated as the top 3 cleanest cities in the Philippines.
Thank you for visiting Iloilo.. and for your positive thoughts.. I would recommend you to come back on the last week of January for the Dinagyang festival.. take care, God bless
Safest place in weather in visayas region in the Philippines. Growing up in Bacolod “ City of Smile” every month of October Maskara Festival in Negros Occidental. wow you guys are in my city.. welcome to Iloilo City .. we may have power issues from time to time.. but so far it's all good... hope you guys enjoy your visit to the city of love
Oysters is very popular in Iloilo and the entire island of Panay.. the island is actually the SOURCE of most oysters in Metro Manila restaurants. Almost everybody in Iloilo likes to eat oysters.. All seafood restaurants in Iloilo carry oysters on their menu. And the best seafood restaurants in Iloilo are mostly found along the coastal areas..
Molo Plaza is so beautiful at night especially with the lights on the Molo Church. At night it's a very romantic place. You should try next time the Batchoy, Pancit Molo, Iloilo Native Bibingka (mostly sold on the plazas) and other seafood dishes. They are very delicious. Southern Iloilo also has the UNESCO Heritage Miag-ao Church and Garinfarm Stairway to Heaven.
The best PASALUBONG you can buy is from Original Biscocho Haus. They have the BEST, especially their Butterscotch and Tarts of different flavors. Thier main Store is in Jaro Street, Iloilo City.
At 9:35 , that building under construction will be our new Jaro District public market when finished. It will be a very clean public market , it was patterned after the lublic market of Barcelona, Spain.
I had been to Iloilo last 1977, a long time ago. It looks so different from what I see from your vlogs. I do want to go there again and go to Guimaras. Are you still craving certain foods? Take care of yourself. I'm also following you in Instagram and I know you are 6 months pregnant. There is a Canadian vlogger that lived or still living in Iloilo. His UA-cam channel is That Philippine Life. I remember from when I was there, the people were so sweet and the way they talk it is so sweet.

You passed by the district of Jaro, if you read it in English, it is pronounced "Dyaro" but the local Ilonggo pronounced it "Haro" and nice roaming around!
If you want a big variety of fishes and seafoods for PALUTO, please go to the Iloilo Fishing Port, just 10 minutes Grab, or taxicab from Injap Tower hotel. You van even ride a jerp for 10 pesos per person from Injap Tower to rhe Iloilo Fishing Port, this by riding the jeep from SM Cty Iloilo across the street at rhe SM jerp terminal in front. Tell the driver you will get off at the Iloilo Fishing Piet. People usually go to the Fishing Port at nighttime because the tables are in open air and its hot during the daytime.
