    I am on a Medicare Savings Program (not sure which one)that pays my medicare premiums, etc., plus part d discount. I also get MediCal. I received an inheritance of 23,000 cash and 38,000 IRA. I am turning 65 in November, changing to retirement benefits, so I was investigating Medigap policies. Due to health issues, I need guaranteed issue. In California the asset limit went up to 130,000 which I'm well within. however, I'm worried that I will no longer be able to qualify for MSP and Extra Help, I don't know where to start.

      That's a very difficult situation. Please call us so we can explore some options for you. We can look into medigap, medicare savings programs and even DSNPs (since you're eligible for MediCal). 888-410-0344. If you haven't enrolled in Medicare yet, remember there is no medical underwriting for medical plans during your IEP!

    Thank you, as this was a very informative video! Well done. It prompted some additional questions regarding QI. So I called the telephone number with my questions as you recommended in the video. Unfortunately, the individual that I spoke with suggested that I get answers to my QI questions elsewhere.

      Possibly so. There is a monthly income limit so if you continue to work your income could not exceed that limit. In 2023, it is $1660 for an individual. Thanks for your question!

    Wouldn't the average SS income monthly payment bump people out of qualifying for MSP/QMB? Or are SS payments not included as income for this calculation?

    • @iHealthBrokers
      @iHealthBrokers  5 місяців тому

      Yes, but we are not talking about averages. This is for extremely low income. Thanks for your question!

    Is a QMB allowed to buy a Medigap policy such as Plan G? I'm concerned about the initial 6 month window regarding automatic acceptance. If a QMB's income increases to the point of no longer qualifying for Medicaid assistance, will they THEN have to medically qualify for a Medigap plan?

    • @iHealthBrokers
      @iHealthBrokers  2 роки тому

      That's an excellent question. If it's within your budget, you can certainly purchase a supplement with a QMB. If you were to lose your QMB eligibility, and apply for a supplement plan outside of that initial 6 month period, you might be subject to medical underwriting.

    • @shoji...
      @shoji... 2 роки тому

      @@iHealthBrokers Thank you so much for answering! It seems like it would be fair for insurers to consider that scenario as a qualifying event and allow transitioning recipients another penalty free window. However, at this moment, it seems like the best advice for anyone who believes their assistance to be temporary should find a way to afford a Medicare supplement policy within that initial 6 month window. Thanks again!

      I am on MSP Extra Help. I turn 65 in November and was investigating Medigap policies. Need guaranteed issue. I received an inheritance of 23,000 and 38,000 IRA. My income stays the same. With the new asset limits, I should still qualify for MediCal, but maybe not the MSP. Medigap is so expensive, but with my health issues, I would need to expand my health coverage, possibly out of state, so I'm seeing what I can possibly afford. I don't know where to start.

    • @iHealthBrokers
      @iHealthBrokers  3 роки тому +1

      It's possible that your Dad may qualify for his assistance based on his assets and income. He'd need to contact his state's Medicaid office to confirm. Also, if he's eligible for Medicaid and Medicare, he may want to look into a DSNP. It's a special type of Medicare Part C Plan that is only offered to those eligible for Medicaid and Medicare. It can offer major cost savings and additional benefits. Here's our video on DSNPs: ua-cam.com/video/h5F9Hxj-vwk/v-deo.html You can also feel free to call us with any questions: 888-410-0344.

    My son has Full Medicaid Staywell health plan. Should he still enroll in Medicare Part B? Why should he pay the Medicare Part B premium when he can use his Staywell Medicaid for his outpatient doctor visits? Should he just opt out of getting Medicare Part B?

    • @iHealthBrokers
      @iHealthBrokers  3 роки тому

      The percentage of doctors who accept Medicare is higher than those who accept Medicaid. So, it could be beneficial. You may want to call your state Medicaid program to see if it it would help your son to enroll. As you said, he may be better off opting out. Additionally, if he's eligible for Medicaid and Medicare, then he may want to look into a DSNP (dual eligibility special needs plan). We've got a video explaining here: ua-cam.com/video/h5F9Hxj-vwk/v-deo.html Please feel free to give us a call (no charge) at 888-410-0344 and we can try to walk you through your options.

    Hello, great video. I am trying to gift my homeless parents a house and my parents get Texas Medicaid QMB and medicare. What should be the maximum house value in Texas so they do not lose their QMB benefits ? Also does Medicaid estate recovery program try to seize the house of deceased QMB recipients who never lived in any nursing home or any other long term living facility ? Thanks

    • @iHealthBrokers
      @iHealthBrokers  8 місяців тому

      Your home should not count as part of the resource limit for Medicare and QMB. However, since you are "gifting" it, you may want to consult with a tax professional just to be 100% certain! As far as your second question, you would really have to contact Medicaid! Best of luck to you and your parents!

    Hello I receive medicade and Medicare part A and B.. my part B is paid by the state .. Can I can a advantage program to pay for vision hearing and dental. Thank you

    • @iHealthBrokers
      @iHealthBrokers  Рік тому +1

      Medicare Advantage plans actually replace Original Medicare (part A & B). So, you can't get a Medicare Advantage Plan in addition to Part A & Part B. If you need a medicare plan that covers vision, hearing, and dental, you could look into a Medicare Advantage Plan instead of Original Medicare, but there are drawbacks... Based on your income, you might be eligible for a DSNP which could potentially be a very good option. There are a LOT of variables here, so please feel free to call us at 888-410-0344. We can walk through the more specific options as it pertains to your needs. Best of luck and thank you for your question!

    Hi, my parents have medicare part A and they are also enrolled to QMB program do they need to get medicare part B? Or can they go to the doctors office just with the qmb card and medicare part A

    • @iHealthBrokers
      @iHealthBrokers  3 роки тому

      HI Gladys, glad you found the video! I just responded to your other question on our SEP video as well. Medicare Part A is your hospital insurance. You need Medicare Part B for outpatient insurance (like doctor's visits). Is there a reason that your parents are not enrolled in Medicare Part B? The QMB program should help pay for their premiums. If they are enrolled, Medicare providers aren’t allowed to bill them for services and items Medicare covers, including deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments. Please call us if you have any further questions and we will be happy to help: 888-410-0344.

    Why is the income limits so low for Qmb, SLMB and Qi? They seem very unrealistic. Back before pandemic I worked 25 hours and still had no severe changes in health care but now if I work 12 hours I am losing health care. Companies are paying more which means disabled people are unable to work period

      Medicare Medical Savings Accounts? There aren't many that are offered (not to say there aren't any, it's just less common). They work like HSAs. So, you'd have a plan with a higher deductible.
