Hey guys, this is a video I didn't want to have to make. But the fact of the matter is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation or the ABC. Decided it was acceptable and proper to air a documentary sharing the "Russian side of the conflict".
The Documentary in question is "Ukraine's War: The Other Side" and it has caused an international incident between Australia and Ukraine to the extent that the Ukrainian ambassador requested a meeting to discuss the issue.
The ABC has not only not backed down on this issue but publicly defended the documentary and their decision to air it. Now I have no problems as such with a documentary reviewing the Russian perspective of the conflict, however the journalism displayed in this documentary was no journalism at all. It was a propaganda sob story where the only narrative shared was that of the Kremlin''s while both the presenter and the editing of the documentary attempt to present a sympathetic view of the Russian forces currently waging their illegal war in Ukraine.
So. I am having my say on it and dismantling it.

While Russian media would not be able to release anything more than pro-Russian propaganda from these soldiers, this reporter can go in, get answers, and leave without his work being censored. It allows for the expression of the views of that soldier who saw through the propaganda, while at the same time showing that there are plenty of soldiers who are blinded by such propaganda.

Aktchyually, i kind of doubt directors of ABC, Australian goverment or commisioners knew what they were doing by funding this propaganda piece. I don't know who commisioned it, but here's a thing.
Russia - meaning Kremlin's Roskomnadzor and other psyop offices - has infiltrated most big "western" institutions to cause as much subversion to the "western" public opinions as possible.
If they had literal FSB agents interfering in US elections and sponsored GOP extremist fanclub trough sanctioned Kremlin's henchmen (ex.g. Konstantin Nikolayev, look up his connection to M. Johnson, M. Flynn etc.), i'm not at all surprised they compromised a few apparent journalists in ABC. You just cannot go to Russian-occupied territories and ask, say or show whatever you want. You're highly vetted and pre-approved just like absolutely everything that comes out from that side. It's an entire seperate 3rd branch of "Russian propaganda". They know how effective it is for pulling the wool over ignorant westerners' eyes. Everything coming out of Donbas since 2014 has been this way and i could list many examples, but won't do that courtesy here.
This is not journalism, these are their strongest weapons of this hybrid-war. They're an integral part of subversive black-propaganda machine aimed at dividing and destabilising all democratic anglophone countries. I've seen exerts of this job even on Russia's domestic branch of wartime propaganda used with great effect. The "westerners" aiding them, like these producers, should be treated similar to Nazi-collaborators during WW2 and prosecuted. I'll actualy campaign and do everything in my small powers that they will have to answer for becoming traitors under the law of ICC or where applicable eventually. If he was from my own Eastern European country, he'd face criminal charges immediately and either do time or would be exiled to Russia. This is a info-war not only ON Ukraine, but on all democracies and rules-based world order. It's not physical - yet - as Russia cannot afford to expand for now. The situation is more screwed than most people realise. History will tell how well we deal with it.

That doesn't mean it makes mistakes or can get tricked - many years ago it ran a "documentary" called The Great Climate Change Swindle, and the Q&A session afterwards (moderated by Tony Jones) that was very much against the theory of climate change. It was later discovered that the panel and audience of the session had been stacked.
Interestingly, ABC's version of Q&A started about a year later, also hosted by Tony Jones...which then made the...decision...to let Zaky Mallah ask a question...

Just in case you still weren't convinced the Russians are cartoonishly evil, the guy speaking at 23:50 is wearing what appears to be a Night Lords patch.
For those unfamiliar with Warhammer 40k lore; the Night Lords are a space marine legion who specialize in terror tactics, torture and war crimes in general. They are the guys you send when you want make an example of someone. And when I say that they specialize in terror tactics, I don't mean like Al-Qaeda, I mean they are a group of literal serial killers who are recruited from a young age specifically for their sadistic and murderous tendencies. They follow no creed and believe in no god. They kill and torture simply for the thrill of it. Their MO when taking over planet is to brutalize the inhabitants of a large city and then broadcast their crimes over the entire world for everyone to see, hoping to scare the rest of the populace into surrender. There are few fates worse then being captured alive by the them and considering the setting we're talking about, that's saying something.
However, unlike most other space marines who care about things like courage and honor and willingly seek out strong opponents, the Night Lords couldn't care less about honor and only fight opponents weaker then them and they never pick fights they know they can't win. In other words, they will specifically search for poorly defended civilian settlements to sack and brutalize and then piss themselves and run the second another space marine chapter shows up or anybody that might have a slight chance of being an actual challenge. They are basically the only canon space marines who are cowards and have no redeeming qualities.
All in all definitely not a faction you should be idolizing as a soldier in any war, especially if you are in a documentary about how you're actually the misunderstood good guys, it's just not a good look. I get that Warhammer 40k is big in Russia and he could just be larping and didn't put much thought into it, maybe he doesn't even know what that patch means. But considering the staggering amount of confirmed war crimes committed by the Russians, I doubt it.

Stuff like this pisses me off so much, the Russo-Ukrainian War is more cut and dry than most. If Russia leaves, the war ends. What does need an actual nuanced review, particularly by someone with a backbone, is the Israeli-Hamas war. Far more complicated, and most people do tend to ignore its complexities in favour of blindly supporting Gaza. By that I mean they not only protest in favour of providing much-needed aid to civilian victims who have no Hamas affiliations but support the Hamas regime itself. Netenyahu shares much with Putin, and is a reprehensible fuckpuppet, but he only has single digit support among all Israeli voters, which includes two million Palestinian citizens of Israel. Unlike Ukraine, Hamas actually initiated hostilities and engaged in real tangible genocide that was as blatantly evil as the massacre at Bucha and elsewhere. Unlike Ukraine, Hamas has no interest in lasting peace or even an end to hostilities, and the primary reason why civilian casualties are so high is due to Hamas bases being purposefully placed under Hospitals, Schools and public service buildings to deter reprisals. If the IDF leaves Gaza with Hamas still in charge, the attacks will simply continue and more Israeli and Palestinian civilians will die needlessly. If the IDF wipes out Hamas, yet another terror organization will emerge from the power vacuum like its predecessor, the PLO. No easy options, and very much in need of a thorough analysis.

    • @JABN97
      @JABN97 6 місяців тому

Agree with most of your points. However: i no longer trust the IDF claims on bunkers below hospitals. If only because the one time they promised to show overwhelming proof of a command centre running most of Gaza, all they found after 3 days was a small closet with 3 pc’s, a roster list for nurse shifts and 2 AK-47’s that may or may not have been planted by themself.
Regardless: if Hamas places military targets under human shield, then if I remember correctly the IDF still has a duty to weigh the causalities against military value. And even the Americans are now publicly saying they are not making that measurement properly.
When even the USA thinks your Air Force is doing too much collateral damage, your doing something wrong.
If only because the civilian impact of the IDF will likely strengthen Hamas, as part of terrorism 101: the more civilians you hurt the more rebellion soldiers you create for the opposing side.
And Hamas absolutely does not deserve any extra recruitment

People are so caught up with “you have to have empathy. I spent an entire day telling people that the Wehrmacht were actual Nazis and shouldn’t be respected for their “courage” and “sacrifice” as many of these people were saying. These people argued however that US and British troops committed some war crimes too, so there was no right or wrong side.😑 I wanted to wall pizza myself just trying to comprehend how a functional human could come to the conclusion that a few allied troops executing POW’s equates to the literal Holocaust, therefore there was no good or bad side. But this is the same logic that leads to people excusing Russian war crimes today, saying “well Ukraine’s done some bad stuff too, there really is no good or bad side, both sides are just victims of their politics”. Despite it being very clear to any normal person that Russia invading their neighbor who posed no threat to them makes them the bad ones, along with the many atrocities they’ve committed like in Bucha. There, being a war criminal not only goes unpunished, but is even encouraged. It would look very strange if state TV in my country started to make tv documentaries where Kluk-klux-klan and neo-confederates could tell the story about the American civil war and slavery from a Confederate persepective. Or interviewing neo-nazis and former concentration camp guards and Einsatzgruppen soldiers about their perspective on the holocaust.
Russia is our geo-strategic enemy. Just like it was during the cold war. The nuclear threats and hostile rethoric makes this clear.
Russia have also themselves said that they are at war with the west. And that makes it clear that we are at war with russia, regardless if you wanna be at war with russia or not.

First shots were by Ukraine on May 14, 2014, n krasnoarmeisk, where unarmed civilians were massacred outside a voting poll by Kiev forces. Kiev sent ore troops and declared all of Donbass's people "terrorists" with karte blanche for the army to kill them. The people of Donbas refused and fought back. Refused Russian UN peacekeeper offer in 2018. Didn't even try to honor the 2019 Minsk 2 Accords. Refused to end genocide in Donbas. Russia intervenes in Feb 2022, proposes Istanbul Acords. Ukraine would even get Donbass back,t hey just have to stop committing genocide there. Ukraine refuses. 5 times Ukraine refuses peace, started the killing, won't stop, yet says Russia is aggressive.
