This is the best version of Panic on UA-cam, 1st because it's captured from a computer and not an emulator, the scroller sequence doesn't break apart, and 2nd because it has been captured on a 386, on anything faster the part after the mandelbrot fractal goes too quickly.
Thanks, I usually capture only from real hardware. The mandelbrot fractal may be a bit slow, but the shadebob scene afterwards runs fine. Maybe a 486SX-25 would be a bit more speed appropriate, but I currently have no such setup system. I would like to mention that even Dosbox can be speed tuned to target a certain real machine using trixters topbench from oldskool.org. Speed ratings from the 386 system used for this capture are included in the topbench comparison table.
From the The Party 1992 invitation - The demo must be an executable, and not an animation. - Your demo has to run on a standard 386sx machine. - We don't care what graphics card you use, as long as it supports the ET-4000 SVGA graphics card, that we will use to show it. - Maximum length is 30 minutes. -Your demo music can be of any standard, but we are only supporting the Sound Blaster Pro card, so if your music doesn't support this card, please take your sound card, used for the demo, with you.
@Harekiet This is not Dosbox Emulator where you can simply switch to Warp speed. Though the presentation PC at The Party 1992 may have had a few more cycles...
Gee, the compo restrictions were pretty loose back those times... "- Maximum length is 30 minutes." Try to push a demo of said length nowadays. ;) On the video itself, I fail to remember that the page swapping caused was that bad tearing (around 1:10 for example) but that might be due to the fact that I have ran it on different hardware back in the day. Very nice capture though.

I've seen the fractal part run at a variety of framerates but it always went down at the appropriate time suggesting framerate independent timing.
