When I was about 19, I had waist length hair, which I bleached a couple times a year. I was very careful with my hair, and it was very healthy. I decided I needed a change and went to a new hairdresser and told him to cut it really short. He did. He actually gave me a really nice cut. Then he says, “ How ‘bout a perm”? (It was the ‘80s). I told him no, because I bleached my hair. He said that the perms they used were very gentle. I had always loved curly hair, so I said ok. It might not have been so bad, if he hadn’t gotten busy, and forgot about me. I finally had to tell him my head was burning. When he started taking out the little rollers….my hair came with it. When I left, I stood outside, by the door, sobbing. A lady walked up, looked at my hair, and turned around and left. It took me a year to get my hair back to looking like hair. No, I didn’t pay for the perm.
Wow that's awful and very unprofessional.. what did the stylist say after he realized what he did?
@@yerichu At first, he tried to blame me, saying I didn’t tell him I bleached my hair. But I told him I did, and even if I didn’t, as a hairdresser, he should be able to tell. Then the other stylist told him she heard me tell him. She apologized to me because she had gone to lunch, and wasn’t there to tell him to get the perm solution out of my hair. I told her it wasn’t her fault. I cried for days. About a month later, I went in to a new salon, that I had heard really good things about. I got there, took off my hat, and burst into tears, again! The hairdresser was quiet, then she said she would give my hair a deep conditioner and a very slight trim. That was our thing for the next 6 months. Lori, you resurrected my hair!!!

I suppose having your initials shaved into your hair makes as much sense as what HO could also mean.
Since it wasn't Ho,Ho,Ho, I figured it was either their initials knowing what it spelled out and trying to be clever or someone shaved it into her hair unknowingly. Mean!!!

Also, I would LOVE for you to trim and style my long hair! I would love to see what you would do with it! If I ever go to Belgium, I want to book a salon appointment with you! Cheat in my hairstylist for a one time thing! But she's great too! Never had any issues with hair, other than occasionally cutting it shorter than I prefer but it still looks so great!

I am giving away my age right now. But back in the late 80s, when I was a teenager. I would buy a couple of bottles of peroxide, pour it in my hair, blow dry it, then do it a couple more times until it was the color I wanted. Then I would buy a crap load of the Hawaiian punch packets (without sugar), add enough water to make a paste, put in my hair for an hour, and bam my hair was pink, purple, or blue! Thankfully I never needed to perm my hair, because it is naturally curly. But yeah, the style in the 80s was crispy hair, lol.

Have I learned from this video? Yes. I learned I was right to listen to you and I went to the salon. I have dark brown hair and wanted hi lites for a very special day. It's a beautiful blonde hombre, only slightly damaged because it's bleached. They did a few treatments and a gloss. As he was applying the bleach, the owner was checking and stripping out the parts that were done. Yes, it was expensive. But, it's low maintenance color wise and my husband loves it. Thank you Hair Buddha. You saved me so much heartache because oddly enough, we watch you together, and he trusts you, lol! He let me spend the money. What was the special day? My birthday, our wedding anniversary AND an award from his company along with over 200 others who made it to 1 million miles, accident free, driving big rigs. It just happened to be the same day. How much more awesome can it be?!

8:59 I can confirm, that when my aunts were growing up, their dad wanted them to have short hair, and their mother wanted it long. So they did end up with kind of a weird mullet 😂 seems like a reasonable theory sir.

I always dye my hair at home without any drama's thankfully. I love watching your hair fails and they make me feel so thankful that I have never had an issue with my hair dying experience.
Just remember "fine sections".
That mullet is the stuff of my nightmares! Had a women ask for almost exact thing. Suggested a more traditional mullet, nope! How about a pixie? Nope, cut it off. Her reason? I wear a visor at work and sick of it in my way. She came back 2 more times then finally went to pixie.

In the late 80s I didn't color my hair, but I would get this "perm" called "Vavoom" it was a 6 week "perm" it lasted over 3 months in my hair. My stylist couldn't believe it and didn't understand how!

On instagram a "hairstylist" gave a lady a terrible haircut and dyejob. Honestly it looked horrible on her. It did not suit her at all. The hairstylist was very proud of her work and asked for opinions. Well she got them. None of them were like "oh that is beautiful" Since she asked I friendly told her that I thought it didn't suit her. The hairstylist got offended and started to cuss me out. She even went to my profile that says "no bullying" she said I was the biggest bully. I was only honest and she did ask what we thought. She said this is what the client wanted and that she always gives what the client want. I said that if something really doesn't suit a client you have to be honest. This cut and color (a bleach fail) was really not great advertising for her salon and bad for the client. I am glad you are honest Hair Buddha.

Worst haircut in my memory was that triangle/pyramid cut back in the late 80’s. Lorraine Gary sported it in Jaws the Revenge in 1987. Had a friend who wore it & 🤦🏼♀️

4:11 is probably not at a hair salon/hairdresser (unless it's in their home), to the left in the picture it looks like a beginning of a staircase with a babygate and in the mirror you see a young kid, plus on the desk in front of her is a carkey which I don't think I would put that way if I went to the hairdresser/hair salon.
