What are you talking about the city bought those hotels to serve as homeless shelters. If that's not critical infrastructure for housing people then idk what is.
The Harbour commission was negligent in not having made measures to protect the bridge from ship strikes in the first place , there is NO ECPXCUSE , it's happened many times before
If anyone is complaining about having to go around ( cause, they're hauling) dangerous cargo; show em videos about horrific accidents in Europe involving tunnels 😢
The chemical restriction has been on place in the Holland tunnel from the start. A bridge collapse unrelated to this should not has been the reason why you would do this.
He said they ramped it up not that they have put chemical restrictions in place, meaning random truck checks , updated GPS warnings. Neither the Holland or the Lincoln tunnel do that regularly .
The only sane/insane thing to do if some Truckers are removing HazMat placards is.... to close the Tunnels to ALL Semi-Trucks, Box Trucks, Panel Vans and make the Tunnels Automobile Only, and jack up the Tolls for LL Semi-Trucks, Box Trucks, Panel Vans into the Nose Bleed altitude like $1,000. Raising the Tolls like that would discourage Trucking using the Tunnel and endangering it. Baltimore lost the/a Key Bridge.... its going to really hurt if just one tunnel has to be closed due to one of those trucks carrying HAZMAT wrecking and catching on fire or causing a Pile Up... Also drop the Posted Speed Limit to 40 or even 35MPH to increase safety.
Contents were insured , ship probably as well. The bridge would still be there but for negligence of company, like Exxon Valdez. Private company taking out public infrastructure taxpayers have paid for.
Cost to Replace = $1.7 Billion -/- Insurance Payout = $350 Million equals Deficit. By the Way it's an Interstate Highway so it's the FEDs who are in charge not the State.

Ships is not a car dude’s wind can’t do anything
This joke will never not be funny
Remember when we got a federal grant for infrastructure and the mayor squandered it on buying hotels
What are you talking about the city bought those hotels to serve as homeless shelters. If that's not critical infrastructure for housing people then idk what is.
@@cornkopp2985 Charity is not infrastructure, the word you’re thinking of is welfare.
@@cornkopp2985😂😂😂 you goofball
@nugget another air head. Please use your 🧠 it’s there for a reason
@@cornkopp2985 so, instead of improving infrastructure we pay for solutions to the issues our government caused in the first place...

Definitely no ECPXCUSE!!
@@tomdavis8757lol
ECPXCUSE!!!!
The measures yo protect it far exceed the it's value in the first place.
$350,000,000 is about 20% of $1,700,000,000... so where is the other ~80% of the money coming from? I have an idea.
Guess.

Shouldn't the Ship's insurance company pay for the bridge
They are that's the value of the bridge when it collapsed. The payout is not for a replacement bridge but for the value of the old bridge.
In Japan the bridge would've been reopened in a month top
If anyone is complaining about having to go around ( cause, they're hauling) dangerous cargo; show em videos about horrific accidents in Europe involving tunnels 😢
How much of that money is going to the families of the people killed that day
$350m seems very low
2028 what a joke. We are slow at everything in America compared to other countries
We don't build enough. Long term low investment means few people have the skills to build things anymore.
Relax. It's all part of the plan.
better redo the foundation too, a bridge fell on it.
Sell the ship that hit it and sue the company that owned it
The Ship was probably sold for Scrap Metal & the Company had Insurance on it just not enough to replace the entire Bridge. Insurance is a SCAM.
For those saying the payout is too small don't worry the shipping company is still staring down the barrel of the shotgun
Severe Dukes of Hazard. Lmao. Couldn’t yall imagine.
The fist insurance payout should be to repay the Treasury Department!
Wait.only 350million? It's not a lot of money
That looks like a great ramp to over water landing🤔
Cool, now what are they going to do for the families of those that passed away on the bridge?
There's awlays money for a new road bridge but just crumbs for rail and public transit. pathetic.
That's why insurance exists.
But they never pay off enough to cover the replacement value of anything!
Watch that payout closely, government will lose it.
Maryland was actually very fiscally responsible until the change of government in 2022

Bring Back Jerry Turner .
Can’t believe this bridge never had dolphins just wow 🤯 😮
There’s a huge beltway sign that says hazmat is prohibited from going through the tunnel. If they are, then MDTA isn’t doing their job.
Mines will solve problem .

Well the fed fronted the bill so shouldn’t all that go to them?

Drill baby drill!
completely forgot about this that how you know too much crazy stuff has been happening😮😂
I don't doubt that, at the end of the day, the average Joe and Jill will take a hit, whether in tax or higher insurance premiums across the board.
so do we get the money back that the tax payers gave for this ?
😮
Oh, it just collapsed?
30 miles....bfd...not like it's 300 miles. friggin crybabies
30 miles on 695 during some times can take like 2 extra hours.
It's not 30 miles, it's 4mpg for 30 miles both ways making a total of " during normal traffic" an extra 4 hours of driving.

So they get the insurance, why do we have to pay for it? Let's Democrat Maryland deals with it
