Good man. Thank you. Needed this big time. My father won’t give up on these stupid Mitsubishi shogun. It snapped the chain twice. Thanks to this video it might do the job correct in the end. Huge help. Running out of flipping money man. And the job is huge when this chin snap. 🤜🏽❤️🤛🏽 thank you sir again.
Thanks for the good video, were tensioning the fan belt yesterday and managed to turn the crank anti clockwize. Reseted the tensioner using your film. But i thin maybe i need to change the guide today, I have a bad rattle sound from the engine, scared that the tensioner did not lose out again
Don't take a chance. Remove the tappet cover to have a look. If it's the common rail 3.2, then the injector pipes need to come off for the tappet cover to come off. I think the upper intake manifold also needs to come off.
Marius Fourie the old noe for me sir🧐😁 only engine plastic cover for me to remove. Turner out that it was the pivot nut for the alternator that were hitting the fan. But anny ways I did the removal again.
Does the 3.2 DiD GLS motor also get a gasket for the chain tensioner, as shown in the diagram? Just put a new head on, and there was only sealer when I took the tensioner out of the old head..
Thanks. So the tensioned side is tight now but the left side of the chain (with lower guide only) is slack. Is that normal too? I would assume that this slack should not be taken up by the tensioner because of the teeth on the sprockets. So maybe something is wrong with my lower guides, or maybe I am not tensioning properly!
About the turning of the Crankshaft, if you use the starter motor to turn the Crankshaft doesn’t it turn anticlockwise but in the manual it says you have to turn it clockwise ? Because the engine is turning anticlockwise when it is running ! Isn’t it ? Please could you check it again, thank you it is a great video 😊
@@MariusFourie Yes sorry, The chain doesn’t connect directly with the Crankshaft it is connected with gears, therefore two directions Thank you for answering so quickly, found a picture of the timing Chain without the front cover and bam it came suddenly clear what you said. Will buy one (Pajero / Long) like yours and doing some prep work :)) Hope you will make more videos of yours if you still have it.
Thanks so much for that. I had no idea how to set this thing.
Glad I could help!

I always use a gasket there. I cut my own from vellumoid sheets
Thanks for the vid! Is it normal to have slack on the non-tensioned side after resetting?
Install it and bump the starter so the tensioner releases. It should then feel pretty tight.

What were the audible noise of a malfunctioning chain tensioner? I’m curious
I didn't have issues but a chain slap is pretty obvious. I reset it, due to top guide replacement (precautionary)
@@MariusFourie gotcha. thanks

Crankshaft turns clockwise, camshaft turns anti-clockwise.

Do u not have to crank the engine manually?
It doesn't always catch and release by cranking manually. A bump on the starter works great.
@@MariusFourie ok super nervous about doing it.
@@Justh4tguy just did mine using the starter, no issues.
What happened if cranking the engine start?
