How to crochet a chick| Easy tutorial, Beginners crochet

- This tutorial makes a super cute amigurumi chick plush, it’s suitable for beginners as it’s uses simple stitches and works up quick. However I wouldn’t recommend for complete beginners as the tutorial goes pretty fast.It would make a perfect treat to put into an Easter basket. Please note that this is not the proper way to crochet I was just testing things out and people asked how I got the stitch to look that way.
You can sell the final product and post on social media as long as credits are given to the original creator @willowartstudio23
There’s also a free written pattern on my ribblr ribblr.com/pattern/free-chick...
If you want it in more detail you can slow the video down.

Please read the description before commenting. I’ve had a lot of comments saying this is terrible for beginners and it’s too fast however as explained in the description it’s only recommended for beginners because of the simple stitches used ❤
Product link? please
Good for you. People think every video is to teach them how to crochet. They need to learn how to crochet and how to follow patterns before they try to make things. These are my favorite videos. Show it on the screen then do it.
Loved this! It turned out well for my first amigarumi toy! I added hair to mine to give him spunk.
I was devestated the first time i did this. I came back, 3 and ½ months later, made 15, and sold $100. Thank you so much!!!!
Oml wow
people!! This is GREAT for beginners. NOT for ABSOLUTE beginners.
Can u make him holding a knife love ur vids btw!!!
Oh yeah I’ve seen the chick holding knife I’ll definitely make one🙂
This comment made me giggle, idk why 😭
me too 😭😭
Lol
Lol
I’m making this for my dad who is coming in a few days because he’s been in Bahrain for a while now so I’m gonna surprise him with this chick! Also my yellow yarn isn’t the best yarn so I’m using my favorite one the blue one. He’s gonna get a blue chicken ☺️
That’s so kind of you I’m sure he’ll love it❤️
I hoped he liked it
you can also do this with the magic circle if working with the magic ring is too difficult for you! Just skip the SS and go straight to SC when starting the second row. Its way easier imo and the only downside is that the MC isn't as clean when it comes to closing the small hole but sowing should close it just as well
I actually taught that I wouldnt be able to make a last minute gift but I did! Its super cute
omg. i wanna get a crochet set bc i love these!! youve earned a sub ❤❤❤
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG
Mood 😭
I feel like i've got two left hands
I'm making the chick for my friend right now because I want to surprise her, and so far it's looking pretty good! Thanks so much for the tutorial!! 🐥❤
That’s so kind of you thanks so much for watching 😊
Sameee but mine is with a frog hat
@@willowartstudio23my mom told me i can get yarns ❤❤ btw tysm for the tutorial ❤❤
I loved this video so I asked my mum to buy materials. I’ve now got white pink and blue. Thinking of making an adorable blue chicks names bluey!❤
Love it
this is so relaxing to watch
Thank you that means so much ☺️
Me: "not reading the description before starting my very first crochet ever without doing any research." Oh well, I have already made it to round 4 after 3 hours of rewinding, so I might as well keep going 😅
Anyway, thanks for the great tutorial! I had to Google some stuff, but that was obviously my own fault for not reading the description.
this turned out cute :3
Once i got the magic ring down it was smooth sailing! Thank you so much for sharing, i’ll be making like a MILLION of these now😂
Why Green your picture is your cat green?
i am VERY well over beginner, but i am still so excited to try this it looks so cute !
As an autistic kid who self taught crochet stuff, I couldn’t do the beginning part and freaked out multiple times because it wouldn’t turn out right no matter how many times I watched it in slow motion I couldn’t understand it at all.. it could just be me but only one thing has worked for me and it’s not a pretty thing too.. i am currently crying because I just wanted to make a duck but even beginner videos are to hard for me to understand..
Hi the magic ring is completely normal to not get right especially as a beginner the reason this video is labelled beginner is because of the stitches used I would recommend searching complete beginners tutorials these should be more helpful as they go into more detail ❤️
Some people chain 2 then work all the rest of the stitches in the first chain. The MR is especially hard using the fluffy yarn so don't feel bad about it!! If anything you can try doing it with acrylic or cotton yarn first until you get the hang of it!
It’s been awhile since this comment was posted but there’s another way to make a magic ring that I personally find easier. It’s making a slip knot, chaining two, then putting all the stitches you would put into a magic ring in the FIRST (bottom) chain you made, and then tightening like a magic ring!
@@angvlyx I’ve been chaining 4 then connecting my first chain to my last chain and I’ve made a bunny, spider, a few bucket hats and other drafted stuff. That’s what i learned to do 😭😭 I still can’t make a magic ring- thank you for the advice though!!
@@deadizukumidoriya914this is not to brag but im a beginner and i literally made a magic ring the first day i started and I used lilthings youtubers magic ring way and it’s very easy
this was the first pattern i ever crocheted with and now im remaking it 5 months later!! ❤️❤️❤️
I’m glad you stick with it 😊❤️
What kind of yarn do you use🥰
Thanks so much I love this video 🤗 I have made my first chicken I LOVE it thank you SO much
just made this!!! so cute omg
i saw pewdiepie react to someone try to make this but fail and since i crochet i had to try this out haha. It was so simple 😅 I think they need to practice simple stitches first haha
Seriously 😭
Do you maybe know how much meters yarn you used for the chick?
Do you know what is the brand of the plush yarn please?
I'm making this pattern for my bf and i'm kinda new to crocheting so it was super helpful, thank you so much
omg this is soo cute😭 im gonna do this once i get the crocheting materials since i dont have any😞

so cute! thank you for the easy tutorial 🐥
Thank you I’m glad you liked it 😊
Mmm
hello!! your design is adorable 🥰 i want to start crochet, i was wondering where did you get your yarn from? ❤️
If you’re in the uk you can buy it in places like hobby craft if you’re in the us then I think Joan’s and micheals sell similar plush yarn❤️
So cute! Tysm for this tutorial :)
So cute!
Thank you 😊
AHH ❤😊THWNK YOU SOO MUCH🎉😢 I LOVE IT 😖
I'm glad you like it😊
What if i use a normal yarn is it okay plz tell?
Tysm!! Im getting crocheting supplies tomorrow and this is gonna help sm!!
im so glad however i wouldnt recommend this video for a complete beginner :)
@@willowartstudio23 ah okay!!!
thank you so much for the tutorial ❤
Ty I want to learn I love it!
When you are making your SC inc in row 2 are you going in the front first then the back side for the second inc?
SOOOO CUTE IM STARTING TO CROCHE AND I AM GOING TO MAKE IT!
❤
Loveee it can’t wait to try
I just made it and I AM IN LOVEEE
I’m so happy you like it 😊
Muchas gracias❤❤
No problem thank you so much for watching😁
Precioso ❤
Im on row 3 and do i do it 6 times?
Hello I love this chick it looks adorable!
Yes of course they won’t look exactly the same and there’s limited amount of patterns for them but there are still some really cute ones 🥰
@@willowartstudio23is there a way for me to make the chick any bigger? I wanna try it and would prefer if it was larger
@@That_slimecollectoryou should use thicker wool.
so cute!!
Omgg it's amazing
I would really appreciate it if you could put the pattern in the description in the future. If you can write it in the video, you can put it in the description as well. Also, this is neither an easy tutorial nor for beginners.
Magic ring, 6 sc
slipstitch to join
Row 2: 6 inc (12)
Row 3: (inc, sc) x6 (18)
Row 4-7: 18 sc
Row 8: (dec, sc) x6 (12)
Add eyes between row 6 & 7, about 4 stitches apart
Stuff chick
Row 9: 6 dec
cut yarn & pull your hook through
sew the hole closed
sew on beak
wings:
ch4 & sc into first ch
Why does it look like one inc sc is going through the front and the next through the back of the crochet? Is that just preference?
@@Birdybird2509she said in the description that she's trying a new stitch
can you do a tutorial for the stitches you used? i am so very confused and the other tutorials i watched use different stitches. 🙏🙏
It's so cuteee
I'm making this for my brother because he's going to live in another country and i cant see him for a long time 🥲💖
I’m sorry to hear I hope he loves his little chick ❤️❤️
BEAUTIFUL QUICK AND EASY TUTORIAL THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! ❤❤❤
FYI: it's for beginners who know the basics! NOT if you're just starting out. Please practice the basics first! Know how to do the magic ring, there are many videos on youtube that go through how to do the MR only that are very helpful or even show you alternatives. All tutorials can't be going over the basics it wouldnt make sense to do so.
hey! a new student of yours here!
which hook should i buy? I'm just getting started
also, there comes different yarns??
It really depends but for most chunky yarns a 5mm is what I think matches the best😊
@@willowartstudio23 okay! thank you
Gurl urs was so good🎉 mine when I tried looked all waves I thing I did sm wrong lol😂
One question, what meter is the tapestry needle?? I need to get the items to make this adorable little guy ❤❤❤
Hii! I was wondering if we can do this with normal yarn?😊
I made this with dk acrylic yarn because I don't have plush yarn. It was smaller but it turned out great
Would this pattern work for thicker yarn
I did it yay make more videos nice thanks for making videos like this❤❤❤😊😊🎉🎉😊🎉❤
That was a great tutorial! What size string did you use? ❤
This little chick is so FREAKING cute TRY THIS I NEED MY EYES ON ONE!
how thick is the plush yarn?
It’s size chunky but it’s one of the thinnest versions of chunky yarn ❤️
How many rows are there?
Really random but I love the soft tone in the background
Thank you so much I’m happy you like it 😊
Wow thank you so much!! You make crochet look so easyy!!
That’s so sweet of you trust me when I started I was terrible 😂
What did you use for eyes and where can I get it?
How do you make it bigger lmk if you make one thats bigger
Just add more single chains upwards and across
Hi can you give any tips for plushies I’m just started
I know this isn’t much help but all you can do is practice if you practice the stitches over and over they become second nature and your speed will slowly increase ❤️
Can i make it with 4.5 mm hook?
idkw but mine become super huge but its ok loved the tutorial!!🐥❤
It’s just to do with the thickness of yarn and size of hook even the tension has an effect on it ☺️
If I don’t have plush yarn, can I still do it with acrylic or cotton yarn? (Sorry I’m a complete beginner😅)
Do I take that as a yes? 😂
I wouldn’t recommend doing this tutorial in acrylic or cotton just because it’s so small already that it might be a bit to small but I do have some other tutorials which are larger and would work well🥰
@@willowartstudio23 okz, thanks for the reply
how many mm will the eyes be
I can’t remember what I used but I think it’s 6mm
@@willowartstudio23thank youu
Hello beginner crocheter here! What is the use of the green pin ur putting throughout the video?
Hi it’s called a stitch marker it’s optional to use but I recommend too
Hello, I try to read the free pattern, but the site registration not working.
i just finished this and it is SOOO cute!!!
I’m glad it worked out 🥰
Hi! Can I ask what ply of yarn is this? Thank you!
Hi this is chunky yarn and the particular brand is James c Brett flutterby chunky yarn❤️
@@willowartstudio23and can i ask, what size of yarn did you use?
Can i use a different sized hook?
It just depends on your size of yarn so yes I recommend a 5mm with plush yarns though😊
And im gonna need to slow this down
what is the exact form of the words sc and inc? i asking because my english not very well so i dont this words
Sc is single crochet and inc is increase:D
@@willowartstudio23 thanksss
How many mm is the safety eyes? 🙏🙏🙏
Also is this not rlly recommendable for 4ply yarns? Mine become a derby birb 😂
Hi it’s 6mm and I would recommend chunky yarn as it’s already really small ❤️
I asked my mom to make a the magic cirkle and she didn’t know if she done it right and now I don’t know what to do!
I have a tutorial for it in my channel if that’s any help 😊
@@willowartstudio23 i saw it I didn’t help im stuck on the magic ring😭but help when i will know how i will make the chick
I’m here because of the lady from tiktok 💀🤣
Oh my god I know I just seen her video before 😭
I want to see it. Send me the link pls
If ur selling at what rate you would like to sell? Thinking about small business..
It really just depends on what you think it should sell for as materials cost different and it takes people different times ❤️
For a mini or small crotchet I would say abt £4 to 6£ for a medium crotchet probs £10 and a big one £15 to £20 I thing that would be perfect for pricing but its up to you ❤
@@Duolingo12312 oh thQ so much.
name off the yarn??
i dont really get it because its so fast and i am a beginner so this is kinda very confusing and i also dont really get the stuff on the top left corner so if u could help that would be great! Thanks!
To make the speed slower, change the playback speed, it will help. Sc = single crochet, dec = decrease and inc = increase. The rows should be self explanatory. The numbers just tell you how many times to do each stitch. Hope this helped a bit, im not the best at explaining.
@@birdahicalana ty but im still a beginner but every piece of advice helps thank you!
@@lyssaurs no problem. I think that you should start by making a ball since most animals involve a ball for the head or body. The main stitches to learn are increase, decrease and single crochet. I started crocheting about 2 months ago and, as soon as I figured out how to make a ball, I started making other animals. A tip that I have is, don’t unravel your animal if you have less stitches then the one in the video. Eg. when single crocheting, you should have 18 stitches, but having 16 stitches as a beginner isn’t going to change the animal that much. Hope this is helpful.
@@birdahicalana i started on using one of the woobles crochet kit! And im so excited to make new things!!!
what does it mean row 4 to. 7-18 sc?
Do u have to use plush yarn
I but it would have to be a chunky yarn otherwise it would be too small❤️
I’ll come back when
I’ ve finished all 4 rows
I don’t have safety eyes is there anything else I can use??
You can use felt or embroider eyes 🥰
@@willowartstudio23sry for asking but is there anything else I can use I’m sry I can’t let go of this tutorial
@Happy-uh8fs You can sew on buttons, or make eyes out of scrap material, or if you're feeling super crafty you can make some out of clay
Yall know how to weave in the ends? Sorry im completely new😅
Fun fact: a magic ring is actually a losen chain
Can you use normal yarn instead of plush yarn?
You can it’ll just turn out a little different❤️
Lmao i definitely made my eyes too far apart
Is it OK if I use a different kind of yarn?
I would only recommend using plush yarn/chunky yarn or larger as anything smaller would come out tiny😊❤️
How many grams of yarn did u use :)
Definitely under 50 but I never way my yarn just go off how it looks ❤️
If this is too fast for anyone you can change the speed of the video in settings! Hope it helps ☺
How so cuteeee!!!
Hi I'm from Korea :)
Can I make and sell the result of chick using your crochet design?
Thank you so much to share your video to us
Happy day!
Hi yes you can sell the finished plush as long as you tag the pattern creator in the description. I’m so glad you liked the video thank you for watching 😊❤️
Im stuck on the first step
Hai I'm a new subscriber and can u make a stitch marker with a clip ,it's okay if you can't do it
And can I use any size of safety eyes
Hi yes you can you use a safety clip and other things for stitch markers I would recommend size 6mm for the eyes😊
following this tutorial i managed to crochet a mini hat for a fairy by row 3
I did mine but it’s so small!
Thank you I love it! May I make it and giveaway?
Ok I’m sorry but I just don’t understand what ch1 or all that stuff means so I would say it’s not really a vid for beginners
Ch means chain, the most basic thing. Mr means magic ring, you have to know how to do this if you want to make amigurumi, slst is slip stitch, sc is single crochet, inc is increase, dec i decrease.😊
There's a difference between being a beginner and your first time holding a hook. If you don't know how to make a chain you've never made a single thing unless you are a magician and learned to make a Ring before a chain. Going off your standards nothing is beginner friendly unless they have an hour long tutorial showing every single type of stitch worked. Don't stress the content creators they are fine calling this beginner. You have to learn the stitches before reading a pattern. That's like trying to read a book without knowing English first. Even a children's "beginner" book wouldn't be "for beginners" if you don't know how to read. Otherwise all children's books would have to teach you what letters are and how they sound.
Ch 1 means chain one. Like you make a chain stitch.
Is this a no sew chick
No sorry I’m going to make one soon though❤️
