I'll be releasing a video on my whole 1k pts D.Guard Army painted in 30 days, and there's a faster way to do it without ruining the quality of the bases
Low and behold, when batch painting 40 bases for the Death Guard Army, quick spoiler before I release a video on it. Airbrush white on all the bases, tackle every base with Grey and Black, Gold Detail, and self drying Still Water Resin on all the bases. The cheapest and fastest way to do it. Not as neat as UV Resin, but it did the job trying to paint 1k points in 30days
It really is however you're feeling and what kind of marble you're using as a reference, big advocate of having fun when working through the steps of painting!
I've seen lots and lots of marble tutorials and this one is TOP! Idea of putting UV resin is GOAT. Can't thank you enough, it's looks so unique and so realistic.
@@lumchop_miniatures Are you going to make some more videos? I am truly impressed! Btw. is UV resin breakable? I am thinking about breaking it with hammer to make ruined marble floor.
Aw jeese! I've found a more convenient way to do it since completing the entire Marble Based Death Guard Army, so I hope this new version makes you just as happy. (It's more just for time-saving, it will all be explained in the Death Guard Army video I'm hoping to release this month)
That’s really really cool man. Thanks for this chill tutorial, I like the vibe. A lot of bigger UA-camrs suffer from the “you have to do it this way” of thinking, but yea this is a silly little hobby. Glad UA-cam recommendations were random for once
Aw jeese, these comments are warming my heart. I can't tell anyone "you have to do it this way" when I'm only less than a year into the hobby, and still don't know what I'm doing xD
I'll try to sort out my discord so that I can see everyone's results! Thanks for the watch and I can't wait to see the Blades of Khaine LT on those bases!
Have you considered sanding the bases to get that polish texture? I've been doing that for a bit and I haven't tried your resin method yet, so I'd like to do a comparison. I love how shiny your bases are! I gotta get some of that resin. For context, I've been making marble bases for my Emperor's Children. I also throw in some pink as the underlayer, but I've just been using clear coat from the rattle can. The effect you've got going is way more of what I'm looking for. I love to see these kinds of videos that give me an idea to implement in my next step of progress.
Heyo! Sanding the base is definitely a step that could be added. But recently, since making this video, I've purchased "Still Water Resin" as the cost is better than UV resin, but the drying time is alot longer than the instant UV. Due to the drying time taking so long, I've been happy that I didn't sand the bases, because the Still Water Resin now has something rough to stick to. If my bases were perfectly smooth before applying the Resin, it might run off the edges (I accidently tilted one of the bases that was drying and it started to run everywhere xD)
great tutorial. will def use this for some kingdom death minis and maybe a hombrew chapter as colour scheme. would ardcoat be enough for the gloss effect, or is uv resin the only way? also, upload somenew stuff dude. this is bette quality advice and painting skill than 90% of whats on yt. i am serious , your ability to explain is king. upload some more!
@SwampOnaMountain for starters.. thank you 😊 we arr currently in the process of buying our first house and organising our wedding for 2025, so since this upload, it has been go-go-go 😆 I will try my best to come up with some more content! I used AK Still Water Self curing resin for an entire 1200 point D.G army. Much more cost effective and dries overnight! But ardcoat might work. Trial and error I suppose 😆 my return might be testing different finishes for other styles of marble colours and designs
The UV resin, I'm curious if you could instead use a gloss coat. Or is the elevation the UV gives part of the effect? I'd like to try this method not for a base but for the "stone" body on a Necrosphinx.
@christiangardner8420 I ended up using self drying AK Interactive Still Water Resin for the whole army. But be careful on bigger bases. I left the BlightHauler and Mortarion bases dry overnight, but didn't realise it wasn't a level surface, so the surface tension broke overnight and spilled 😢
I have just superglued all the models to the bases last night for the entry to 40k40days. I'll let you know once I'm home today if there's been any changes on the bases. Thank you for pointing this out!!@
This is way better than the dryer sheet technique. Takes more work, but the results are fantastic.

@@lumchop_miniatures I need to see this!
not to over-simplify but... paint and uv cure resin? that's... really nice.
I think I may have figured out my Custodes Kill Team bases

Absolutely sick! thank you! the technique is much simpler than it looks, and that's the beauty of it!
