Thank you for the info. It's getting harder to get striker rod at most places. When you find them they are usually in a package with a knife. Have a blessed week.

Wow. These are $16 to $32 thru Amazon plus shipping (I'm not a member). They are about $8 thru Ebay. Plus I never buy ferro rods at local stores. Ebay still stocks them at really good prices. I just can't see how special this particular brand is.

Great info in your video, if you train, and learn to use an inferior or cheap ferro rod in the beginning to hone your skills in fire starting, when you do buy a top of the line rod like an Überleben, you can learn to use less of the rod, I have 2 Überleben ferro rods and I can ignite all the tinder I use, using only the first 1/4" of the rod.

The best striker is the back spine of any of my opine knives

Agreed those things are awesome. I have found that the saw that comes on some Leatherman multi tools work as well too.

I really like the size and the fat little handle is a plus IMO.

Thanks, I had those for a while (They are reproductions off Amazon) and kept meaning to redo the background. It was filthy on the wall behind the stickers (which I moved to the side) so I re-painted and put those up. Much better to shoot video against, not as many colors and less distracting, plus a cool subject :) I was not even born when there was an active civil defense in the country, think I was in kindergarten when I did my last duck and cover drill in the 70s... but I always found the concept of it kind of interesting.

@@Iridium242 I have a fallout shelter placard from a building that was being raised . Would love to have an original CD. I was obsessed with nucler war after watching the day after. Monsters never scared me,that did. I was 8 and could tell adults about all the different delivery vehicles, yields war head count, ranges, time till impact, blast radius and predicted fallout patterns. To say the least my teachers and parents friends thought I was creepy. Good times.

I have a project video coming up soon that might interest you. Fire starter and fire all in one package :) Should be neat to see how it works.. so far the tests of it have been pretty good.

Yeah in the real world I would just use the spine of my knife, but I wanted to demo the whole thing working :)

For years I would use a scraper I bought from Firesteel.com and it works on every ferro rod, mag bar/ferro rod combo that I tried. Then once I started getting knives with 90 degree spines I stopped using that scraper. About 5 months ago I bought a five pack of Bayite scrapers that look like my Firesteel scraper and while kind of pricey on Amazon those scrapers work just as well as my Firesteel scraper and now I can retire my Firesteel one because I would be upset if it got lost since I've had it so long.
