I first tuned in just now, after waking up 2.5 hours earlier than usual, and I thought this guy's a goof, however, I'm the goof because this guy did in fact do what he said he would do, keeping ones word is an increasingly scarce quality these days, and by doing this he showed integrity, filling in his holes, as a metal detectorist who's all about the ethics and honesty of the hobby (ok ok I admit, it's an obsession more than a hobby), I take a lot of pride in A, leaving no trace, B, being fair to the landowners and honest, whereas some of my compatriots don't understand showing the land owner a $250 value Indian head or a $750 value seated liberty dime, where they're afraid the homeowner will try to keep it. Well, I've never, not one single time had anyone try to keep the coins I've found. Because from the get go, I explain anything of significant value gets split between digger and landowner/permission giver, any family oriented relics go straight to the family, no questions asked, and I've always conducted myself with integrity, and I'm still surprised at the speed at which landowners trust me, about 95% of the time when detecting areas that have a lot of land, I often am told I can come back, and about 75% invite me to come whether they are home or not, some ask that I send a message or call to let them know when I'd like to come, others just say come back anytime. Because I put about 10% of my time when arriving into cleaning up road litter, you know trash that's blown in from the roads, etc, I pick up fallen tree limbs any size that one would hesitate to run a lawn mower over. On the extreme sides however, I've edged many sidewalks, repaired gutters, small stuff for me but to folks who can't afford to pay someone for said repairs it means a lot to them. I've met so many people that in my town of about 25000 people, I get people daily that come up to me and are all smiles and I just can't remember them all, their names, their faces, but the one thing they all have in common when approaching me that tells me I know them is the smile they carry as they approach, restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, stopped beside me at red lights even, my intent isn't to brag or boast on myself, it's too brag and boast on the people and the respect they show when a stranger shows them the proper respect, this guy seems like my kind of dude, he mentions filling in his holes numerous times, always has a bit of a relaxed laugh and only mentions drama one time and doesn't go into any real detail to embarrass or dehumanize the deputy, despite the deputy seemingly doing him that way. What I'm really getting at is the climate of distrust and dishonor and division is disgusting, it's just not the same place we all knew 20 years ago, it's not, we need more people like this guy. I never would've thought he was even doing any damage to the creek had he not brought it up, and really he's not because after every single medium sized storm the surge of water does way more than he's doing, it reroutes entire rivers over a couple decades, and flattens out anything his little shovel is gonna lift out of the water, he's making a bit of money doing it and it seems that he's not out there every single day taking the land with TNT or water canons. It also seems that digging in the banks is seriously frowned upon if not illegal and he's careful to mention he doesn't do that either. Okay, I'm done, lol, good job Jeremy, whether you know it or not, some of us still take notice when someone conducts themselves the way you are, at least based on this video. I'll watch more from you, stay safe.
Well said. I am 62 and used to hike these fields and creeks for fun, always asked permission. Always took as trash bag to pick up all trash while I was on my forays. I just loved doing it. I was a young woman then and thought it was good for my boys ( one hates to hike to this day and the other cant get enough). I miss the Ohio I grew up in, and my sons grew up in. Now I am an old lady that can't afford the repairs.. We need more people like you.

I'm in southwest Ohio and I've found good gold in just about every creek I've tried. I just use a shovel, bucket and a pan. I do look for black sand and bends in the creek. Large rocks, bedrock, cracks and any place that looks like it might trap gold. Just about every pan has flour gold and small flakes. People look at me like I'm crazy when they see me panning, but I don't care. 😂

To me, knowing Ohio was the drop point for some of the largest glaciers in North America, it makes total sense that we have lots of gold flake. The idea that clay "balls" rolled along by them might be packed full, doesn't surprise me either. I'm 60 and missing a foot, otherwise this could be a fun hobby for me as well. LOL

Just found your channel, and I love it ❤ I explore the woods of Ohio, mostly along the Conneaut Creek. I’ve talked to some historians, and several of them think that there is gold to be found in this creek. I don’t know anything about where you can search. And I love doing the camping out in the woods as well. If you get the opportunity, would love to see what you could find in the Conneaut Creek and Ashtabula River. I think you might have a lot of success there.
Dont forget to check your tailings real good. The real money is in the Gems. Yes we have Brown diamonds, Topaz, Pink diamonds. Lots of arrowheads and spear points and other relics. ❤ Stay safe , I'm on the Auglaize river in Oakwood.

Very avid crystal digger here from Ohio and NEVER seen or heard of topaz,brown diamonds, ect here in Ohio. Only fossils and arrowheads. Love to be proven wrong though so where in Ohio do you think you found diamonds and topaz. They only form from extreme heat from volcanic activity underground volcanic fissures. Never knew ohio had a volcano of any kind past or present...

Arrowheads in OH? Just walk around in a freshly plowed field almost anywhere. I live in Wayne Co, they almost litter the ground in places. There's some creeks in Richland and Ashland Co that I've always wondered if they'd be worth panning. A guy I know found a sizable nugget somewhere in Ashland Co, he won't say where of course.

hey guy, its all good, spending time out doors and enjoying nature, while doing a hobby you like. i was a little tripped up with the four tanks of gas for the generator though, that costs a bit but i like the set up, panning would also be fun and cheaper and quicker to do spots though and with no costs and hauling gear around. enjoy and good mining to ya.
@@johnmichaeltracy9050 in these spots you have to move a lot of material to find a little bit of gold and I only get like an hour and 20 minutes or so out of a tank of gas for each fill up 😆 it's a very small tank 1-in pump but I still never went through an entire gallon of gas set the gas that it cost me to run it was only like$3.80 that's it 🤘⛏️🇺🇸

Those flakes are nice. BUT what is that amount worth? A lot of work to get a 'smile' of gold flakes. And don't worry about the stream. Digging holes isn't going to do much, the stream has only been there 10,000 years or so! Haha!
ive always wanted to pan for gold , just for fun. but didnt know any was here in ohio.. i live right next to cuyahoga river, and be nelson ledges state park which was created by the glaciers... i always thought their might be some there cause of the high pressures that formed them

What are you one of those guys that lives in a big gold district I don't live anywhere near any of those places unless I drove 700 to 800 mi away so I'm fine with a little bit of gold and only having to drive a couple hours this is what I do for a hobby not a living

@@shawncole180 so tell me this if you lived in Ohio yourself and that's the only place you can prospect you wouldn't go prospecting I would love to be in a big gold area but that's not where I live where I live is in a non gold-bearing state that actually has glacial bearing gold which means that our gold is deposited by glaciers they're still possibilities of finding a picker and sometimes Little Nugget no big nuggets but little nuggets in the same place that I am digging in people have pulled out pickers so it can be worth it if you put in the time and effort I just get so heated in a moment because I've dealt with thousands of you guys I've heard everything how is it worth it you're wasting your time I've heard it all

I'm in southwest Ohio and I've found good gold in just about every creek I've tried. I just use a shovel, bucket and a pan. I do look for black sand and bends in the creek. Large rocks, bedrock, cracks and any place that looks like it might trap gold. Just about every pan has flour gold and small flakes. People look at me like I'm crazy when they see me panning, but I don't care. 😂

To me, knowing Ohio was the drop point for some of the largest glaciers in North America, it makes total sense that we have lots of gold flake.
The idea that clay "balls" rolled along by them might be packed full, doesn't surprise me either. I'm 60 and missing a foot, otherwise this could be a fun hobby for me as well. LOL

I’ve talked to some historians, and several of them think that there is gold to be found in this creek. I don’t know anything about where you can search. And I love doing the camping out in the woods as well. If you get the opportunity, would love to see what you could find in the Conneaut Creek and Ashtabula River. I think you might have a lot of success there.

Love to be proven wrong though so where in Ohio do you think you found diamonds and topaz. They only form from extreme heat from volcanic activity underground volcanic fissures. Arrowheads in OH? Just walk around in a freshly plowed field almost anywhere. I live in Wayne Co, they almost litter the ground in places.
There's some creeks in Richland and Ashland Co that I've always wondered if they'd be worth panning. A guy I know found a sizable nugget somewhere in Ashland Co, he won't say where of course.

@@andrewkruse8131 the blue Clay is at the bottom gold sitting on top of that but the clay above that is that orange Rusty clay and has an oatmeal like consistency but like you poured a bunch of water on it lol 🤣 I'm not allowed to dig in the banks at all but I get accused of it on a constant basis even though I make videos of every hole that I've ever done lol

hey guy, its all good, spending time out doors and enjoying nature, while doing a hobby you like. i was a little tripped up with the four tanks of gas for the generator though, that costs a bit but i like the set up, panning would also be fun and cheaper and quicker to do spots though and with no costs and hauling gear around. enjoy and good mining to ya.
@@johnmichaeltracy9050 in these spots you have to move a lot of material to find a little bit of gold and I only get like an hour and 20 minutes or so out of a tank of gas for each fill up 😆 it's a very small tank 1-in pump but I still never went through an entire gallon of gas set the gas that it cost me to run it was only like$3.80 that's it 🤘⛏️🇺🇸

@@scottindestin heck yeah it does I do leave part of the holes open for a little bit but then soon as I'm done with them I have to fill them in landowners rules but there are some good catfish on this Creek there's some really deep spots too about neck deep 🤘⛏️🇺🇸
Those flakes are nice. BUT what is that amount worth? A lot of work to get a 'smile' of gold flakes. And don't worry about the stream. Digging holes isn't going to do much, the stream has only been there 10,000 years or so! Haha!
The gold's probably about $15 maybe but I made $47 off of just The views alone so not bad lol 🤣

@@derekmanning8831 I live in Ashtabula county but I go all over the place most of my videos are done in Mid-Ohio yeah up around me is all clay and shale and sometimes it's possible to find a little bit of gold in the cracks in the shale but not much it takes a long time to find a few specs where I live but that's why I travel all over Ohio 🤘⛏️🇺🇸

What are you one of those guys that lives in a big gold district I don't live anywhere near any of those places unless I drove 700 to 800 mi away so I'm fine with a little bit of gold and only having to drive a couple hours this is what I do for a hobby not a living

@@shawncole180 when something is your passion and your hobby and you love doing it you don't care if you make any money at it I don't I don't do it for the money and it sure beats having to drive 8 to 900 me to a bigger Gold district and have the possibility of not finding anything when I can drive to one of the GPAA claims or one of the areas in my area and get a decent little smile that's worth it all to me

@@shawncole180 so tell me this if you lived in Ohio yourself and that's the only place you can prospect you wouldn't go prospecting I would love to be in a big gold area but that's not where I live where I live is in a non gold-bearing state that actually has glacial bearing gold which means that our gold is deposited by glaciers they're still possibilities of finding a picker and sometimes Little Nugget no big nuggets but little nuggets in the same place that I am digging in people have pulled out pickers so it can be worth it if you put in the time and effort I just get so heated in a moment because I've dealt with thousands of you guys I've heard everything how is it worth it you're wasting your time I've heard it all
