Excellent review. Thank you. Your composition examples really let EWC shine. This was one of the 1st Spitfire Libraries I purchased. I'm still discovering how versatile it is.

I've always wanted this. It's now on sale for a mad price but in the meantime i got myself the choir from Orchestral Tools "Tallin". Not sure now whether buying this too would make sense.

True, they are somewhat similar actually. Whitacre has s little bit more modern sound

Have it too…it’s a beautiful library. Not for all styles but, very useful. Of course for more epic stuff, I go for Lacrimosa or the choirs in Metropolis Ark 1 or 5.

I want this so so bad but it is insanely expensive at around 599usd. I just bought BBCSO Core but now i wish i had bought this Choir instead. Now i'm stuck! :(. This is exactly what i need in my workflow as im a choir person myself. it's on sale right now for 369usd at the time i'm writing this but it's still very expensive. Gonna have to wait some years now before i can get it. ugh!! Thanks for the review sam! we appreciate it.

I feel you. Enjoy the core. It is great and much more versatile. 🙂

There's Originals Epic Choir with 29 £€$. You can do the same with a few tracks and effects, except legatos. And it has syllabes, opposite to this library ! The randomise is too complicated. The important thing missing in Spitfire choir libraries is singers breathing. It's less important when you pay 29 than when you pay 599, but I don't understand how it could have been "forgotten " ( really ? ).

Are you having trouble with samples loading in the evo plugin? Play something in, save it with the plugin closed, then close your DAW and open the project and see if the samples will play. Spitfire are aware of the problem and admit it's a fault at their end, but are reluctant to address the situation. The samples will load if you save and open with the evo plugin open. Great review by the way.

I'm trying to write an ethereal choral piece and EW hollywood choirs is just not doing it for me. This is expensive but I do get the 30% student discount. I'm actually astonished by the depth, texture, and customizability of this plugin. No amount of modulation and processing will let me create these kinds of detailed sounds from other libraries. RIP party money, I'm coming Eric!

This choir is better for what you are trying to do for sure. Hollywoods party piece is the word builder, but struggles with other things.

It sounds beautiful, but it's always been on the expensive side (even when on sale). I probably won't be picking this up unless they do a deep (>60%) discount.

      It's a little pricey yes

Well, it’s 60% off in the Pro Bundle, but you’d have to buy other things too.
On the other hand, you could get 40% off the Originals Choir, or get the free LABS Choir.
8Dio have been doing big discounts on their choirs over the last few weeks, but I don’t know if those discounts will come round again.

I am sorry, but except legatos, you can do the same with Originals Epic Choir with a few tracks and effects. The price of this "small" library is 29 £€$ ( with syllabes ) not 599 crazy price ! The randomise is too complicated by definition, so not interesting for me. The important thing missing in Spitfire choirs libraries is singers breathing. How can it have been forgotten ? 😡😡😡

I bought this library because of your review.
It's a good review except it strangely leave out one of the most important things, there are no sustained patches that respond to keyboard velocity. To not mention that is......disturbing.
To me this makes the library unplayable. If playing is something you rely on this library makes any polyphonic playing with individual amplitude voicing or voicing cords with your fingers impossible. It's so musicaly limiting.
I can't understand why you left that out.
Im now holding my breath to se If I can get a refund.......................

Sustains are controlled by modulation and expression, and normally do not respond to velocity. Velocity controls shorts. Some libraries have subtle attack difference depending on velocity in their sustains, but that's not the norm. There are plenty of articulations in this library to cover most use cases. But it's not an epic sounding library. Are you sure you're using the library correctly?

@@SecondTierSound Thanks for answering but have you read what I wrote?
Just to mention.....I started with sampling in 1985 with AKAI 612, used VSL with Gigasampler (that's a long time ago) and own/have access to hundreds of acoustic instrument libraries from VSL, Cinesample, Orchestral tools, Kontakt and others. This is the first ever library, I have used, that dont give you access to keyboard velocity (on sustained patches). Yes in some , or even most of them, you have to enable velocity as stock they are set up for CC controlling volume. Spitfire dont have that possibility of velocity on most patches and that is a huge problem for us who like to play/improvise when we compose/perform. I think that this is well worth mentioning.
I should have catch that because playing Palestrina type og music is the only thing you can play on this library with sort of proper interpretation.......
I do like your channel and I actually like the EWC rewiev. Its one of the best on YT, but not mention the ultra stupid Spitfire desition to eliminate Keyboard velocity was not, in my opinion, ........good. They do that in all libraries. Huge mistake! Other YTC dont mention this either (as far as I have seen). But your review is so much better then all others so my comment was a way of trying to improv it. :-) ....
I have never used Spitfire Audio before and I will not use it in the feature. EWC is a beautiful sounding library and I do think that Spitfire has a number of libraries the sound really really good but ,PLAYING music, polyphonic music, AND especially, voicing cords when playing, is essential to me even if I mostly do programming..... 🙂 Play first and then edit 🙂
      Excluding Keyboard velocity........what!
There is also a couple of other tings you left out and I think well worth mentioning, one is particularly strange, the large difference in volume between legato patches and Long patches. On the sopranos it's 15 dB.........
There some sloppy programming in this library that should have been addressed a long time ago, like why has legato and long patches different release time ? Not very useful.
