    They landed in Philadelphia. They traveled to Boston.
    That should have taken days.
    Hell, In 1789, it took George Washington a week to get from his home near where DC would be built to New York to be inaugurated president.
    Even today, getting between Philly and Boston in less than six hours you’re ether lucky or breaking the speed limit the entire way.
    Secondly, I don’t think the person who made comic this understood what the Boston Tea Party was about, since he makes it sound like getting rid of the tea would be a problem, when tossing it in the harbor, destroying it, in protest was the point.

    Okay, what? The whole POINT of the Boston "Tea Party" was to get RID of the tea to protest the taxes! By saving it, the Kool-Aid Man and those stupid kids ALTERED history!
    Now this is making me think that our timeline required the Thirsties to go back and pilfer the tea, and thus they were the true heroes all along.

    11:42 Also FYI: Paul Revere was one of several riders that night, and contrary to what the Longfellow poem would have you believe, he didn't make it; He was stopped by the British at a checkpoint. It was a man named Samuel Prescott who was able to warn the colonials at Lexington and Concord about the British attack. Not only that, he never said "The British are coming!" Rather, his warning was that "the regulars are moving out!" because "regulars" was a colloquial term used for British grunts at the time.

    The comic implies that the Boston Tea Party was an actual party. And that by destroying all the tea beforehand, the Thirsties ruin it. Despite the fact doing just that would simply be completing the act of organized protest early. It's... really stupid. In reality, the Thirsties should've been handing out tea to everyone for free but that run countermand to their mandate and this comic is stupid.

    • @RaphBlade7
      @RaphBlade7 Рік тому

      Actually, the Boston Tea Party was the result of the British government's attempts to counter smuggling of cheap Dutch tea into the American colonies! This lead to the Tea Act, which received the assent of King George on May 10, 1773. This act restored the East India Company's full refund on the duty for importing tea into Britain, and also permitted the company, for the first time, to export tea to the colonies on its own account. This would allow the company to reduce costs by eliminating the middlemen who bought the tea at wholesale auctions in London. Instead of selling to middlemen, the company now appointed colonial merchants to receive the tea on consignment; the consignees would in turn sell the tea for a commission. In July 1773, tea consignees were selected in New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and Charleston. The Tea Act in 1773 authorized the shipment of 5,000 chests of tea (250 tons) to the American colonies. There would be a tax of £1,750 (equal to £237,993 today) to be paid by the importers when the cargo landed. The act granted the EIC a monopoly on the sale of tea that was cheaper than smuggled tea; its hidden purpose was to force the colonists to pay a tax of 3 pennies on every pound of tea. Additionally, several of the protesters were colonial merchants (
      including some smugglers)! Because the Tea Act made legally imported tea cheaper, it threatened to put smugglers of Dutch tea out of business. Legitimate tea importers who had not been named as consignees by the East India Company were also threatened with financial ruin by the Tea Act. Another major concern for merchants was that the Tea Act gave the East India Company a monopoly on the tea trade, and it was feared that this government-created monopoly might be extended in the future to include other goods.

      @Bauglir100 6 років тому +2

      But the intentions were different. When the Boston Tea Party got rid of the tea, it was as a message of protest to the British regarding their taxes. When the Thirsties tried it, it was just to be assholes. Since the Thirsties are a third party in all of this (not affiliated with the colonists in any way), the impact their actions would've had wouldn't have affected those taxes in any way and the British would've just sent even more tea to Boston, but with tighter security, stopping any further incidents from happening.

    Okay after watching this a few times. I think I know why Benjamin Franklin didn't freak out at seeing the Kool-aid Man. As Linkara points out at the end of the episode, this could very well be the Marvel Universe. Given the insanity that is the Marvel Universe, and probably the huge amount of time travel plots that have sent various heroes back to the American Revolution...I think the Kool-aid Man might very well NOT be the weirdest things the founding fathers have ever encountered in their time.

    Not just Godzilla neither. The Hyborian Age from Conan the Barbarian is a canon part of the history of the Marvel Universe (even though I'm pretty sure they don't own the license to him anymore), and since Robert E. Howard and H.P. Lovecraft mutually agreed at some point that their stories took place in the same shared universe, that means that not only the entire Conan series but the entire Cthulhu Mythos takes place in the Marvel Universe. Now, I'm not saying the Kool-Aid Man is an avatar of Nyarlathotep, but...

    So... A lot of people rightly pointing out that the Boston Tea Party was a protest in which they destroyed the tea and didn't drink it. Less of them who realize that actually *dumping* the tea was the entire point. It was a protest against the East India Trading Co. getting special treatment by the British government and entirely designed to be a giant middle finger to them by trashing their product. If the Thirsties just steal it, the protest doesn't happen. It's the difference between stealing a bunch of controversial books as a protest and hiding them and stealing said books then filming yourself setting fire to them. Sure, the first is annoying, but, if anything, it just makes the company think people *really* wanted that book. The second sends a much clearer message.

    Comic book logic: Guy invents a time machine, and instead of being showered with Nobel Prizes, and revolutionizing science and society to its very core, and getting to the front cover of every magazine, publication and newspaper in existence, and TV talking about him 24/7... he instead just casually keeps it in his back yard and shows it to kids.
    OTOH, this is also par for the course for Disney comics, so it's not like it's unprecedented.

    In your defense, on my Blu Ray Player where I watched this, once the video starts, title moves to the top, so either one works. 😉 Thought I remembered mum and dad having more than 1 Kool-Aid Man comic, and I somewhat remember reading this when I was a little girl. Also, nice horror references in the second story. 👍 And yeah, Godzilla VS Kool-Aid Man would be quite the comic. Anyways, thank you.

    One of my favorite episodes finally gets a sequel!
    The Doctor regenerated into the Kool Aid Man. That's the one thing that would explain it....but also make thing make even LESS sense
    6:03
    To quote Phelous and Lupa "IT'S A TIME MACHINE!"
    Why would a Time machine have such specific years in control? Why those years in particular?
    10:15 Oh my god. This panel exists. This comic exists.
    THE BOSTON TEA PARTY WASN'T A DECISIVE EVENT! IT WAS ONE INCIDENT IN A LOOOOONG SERIES OF RIOTS AGAINST THE SHIPPING DUTIES AND THE EIC'S MONOPOLY! IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FOURTH OF JULY! HOW ABOUT HAVING THE THIRSTIES, I DON'T KNOW, MAKE IT TOO HOT FOR PEOPLE TO SIGN THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE OR MAKE THOMAS JEFFERSON PASS OUT FROM DEHYDRATION?!! "♫Somebody open up a window! ♫"
    How does that horse support the weight of the Kool-Aid man, anyway? If he has a mass strong enough to burst through a-oh forget it....
    12:29 That's brilliant
    LOL Good call remembering that this was in December. Forgot about it.
    Wait, if the Thirsties also stole the EIC tea, doesn't that mean they also PERPETUATED the Boston Tea Party?
    All the drinks in Boston are gone? That sounds like a job for SAMUEL ADAMS! But that beverage company isn't sponsoring this comic.
    Just hit me-two teams in each comic....this is like Youngblood!
    LOL Jason Vorhees

    While I hate to give this comic any credit... at 10:35 you point out it might've just been a hot day and Benjamin Franklin was thirsty... but you later mentioned that the Boston Tea Party happened in December, so if this is at the time of the Boston Tea Party, the day being really hot would be an indicator of the Thirsties presence. It'd also explain why the kids aren't freezing in summer clothes.
