Just got a 945 black for my birthday it's my edc, after selling a large Case collection, went to a benchmade dealer for my first a Grey Mini bugout, well now with the mini Osborne I'm at 16 benchmade knives in 6 months 12 folders, 3 autos and my new Osborne. I'm hooked on the butterflies, I dream benchmade, don't laugh my friends, the struggle is real.
I agree. the 940 is probably the modern classic knife. I have several non knife friends with the 940 in their pockets. For non enthusiasts it's probably the modern Buck 110. So I guess that makes this one the modern Buck 112 lol
Just got this today. As soon as I saw it I wanted it. Way smaller in hand than I thought when looking on line. My big hands swallow it up. Feels great in hand and in my pocket. Already got bit flipping it closed. It’s mine forever now.
This is now my main EDC. The 940 has always been my favorite but it was just a hair too long in the pocket sometimes, especially with the deep carry clip. I’m a light user in an urban environment.. there probably isn’t a better choice I can think of. I previously carried the para 3 lightweight and the plastic scales just got to me after awhile. I really welcome the smooth G10.. it’s the best handle material IMO.
I bought a 940 and the omega spring did break, just one of them. I constantly played with it for like 4-5 months. Amd guess what? I sent it back and they replaced it for free, gave me a mini pocket clip, and touched up the edge for me! Dont worry about anything breaking with regular use (I'm surprised the spring lasted as long as it did for how much I messed with it), and if it does break: benchmade has it covered.
I don't care for the split arrow clip either (all of my other 10 Benchmades have had it replaced), but I'm keeping it on this one as an homage to Osborne who designed it.
I really love this knife. It has been in my pocket since I got it and nothing else seems like it is going to replace it. The size, weight, and length are just perfect for edc.
Gotta love the Mini Osborne! The history and design of this knife are classic! Yes we all have to support the 940 for the Benchmade Custom Knife Builder! This mini split arrow clip works well and is an Osborne design! Glad they launched it in Black/Blue!! Thanks for sharing your review!!
Please do an entire review in the ask/answer format, I think it would go triple platinum.😉 Is the blade 2.9 inches? Yes....Is the pocket clip deep carry? No.
I have always liked the 940 but large knives seem to push out of my pocket ( when sitting) in the truck is one thing but ,on the tractor is another story. Lost 2 big knives before I figured out what happened. Since going with a smaller version ( and keeping a machete on the tractor has worked well. I picked up this knife last week at SMKW. I have to say mine is no here as smooth as this me or my mini griptillion. Now I can send in the Mimi grip. To get it serviced. Good review thanks
I'm a Benchmade fan so ordered this as soon as it was released and I love just about everything about it (minus the pocket clip), just as much as I love my 940 and 943 😍! In the Custom shop? Oh yeah, please!
My friend got me the 940 in S90V carbon fiber a few years ago as a Christmas gift. It's easy in the pocket, useful and great edge retention. Aesthetically not my kind of knife, geometry of the total knife isn't to my liking, and I'm not the biggest fan of carbon fiber, or even Benchmade knives themselves. This Christmas I got the same friend who gave me the 940 the same knife because I knew how much he really appreciated it's specific materials and geometry. Also I got my other friend this 945 and I personally was very impressed with it that I had to buy myself one. I much prefer the look, the size, the G10 handle, and the overall feel of the knife. The 940 just feels to much of a slender knife and it's ergo's aren't to my liking. The 945 to me just feels more proportionate and appropriate to it's own overall geometry. I really like this little knife. Also, the edge that was put on the 945 was much better on the one I bought myself and my friend, than both the 940 I own and the 940 I gave my other friend. Both 940 that was manufactured in 2017 was very unevenly sharpened as well as the 2020 manufactured version. Maybe it's the difficulty of the S90V, but you're a knife manufacturer-Benchmade should be able to sharpen their own products correctly. Or as Nick Shabazz says, "Maybe it was 3:30 on a Friday and they just wanted to get outta there." 945, solid knife, I've gotta carry my custom Blacked Out Bugout more to decide which is my favorite Benchmade.
10 days with this and clip side spring broke. But I had ordered spares from EDCacord in Etsy. Stronger spring. Hard for me to get the Benchmade warranty, will take too long being in Malaysia. That said this has become my go to edc knife. And I will get the plain 945 and the og 940
I ordered mine directly from Benchmade and it was stiff to open. Had to open and close a lot to loosen it up. But it’s still not easy to flick it open. Really good looking knife and feels really high quality except for the stiff opening. It’s just way to small for my hands. I’m going to sell it
Another great video. I kinda wanted this mini Osbourne already, but now i really want it. I have small hands (small to medium sized gloves) so this should work much better for me than the full size one. And the black with blue accents looks really good. This channel is awesome, I’ve only recently discovered it but have been watching all of the old videos. Thanks for all the great content, def one of my new favorites.
My bugout spring broke; but i’m not mad. Carried it for a 14 months and open and closed it atleast a 1000 times. I’m going to retire it and buy the S90V/CF version.
Great Video and yeah my old 940 has been through Hell lol and still almost perfect. I like that little Knife.. I think people should understand if a Benchmade Omega Spring you can still use your Knife lol it just becomes a fixed blade with a tiny piece of wood etc.. not many knives you can use if your Lock breaks..
And it has 2 springs... still works with one, just not as smooth. Btw, I know that not because one broke, but because I removed one on purpose, for science.
Ive carry a full size grip in 154cm for about 8 years now. So far only problem ive had is im missing 1 body screw n 1 pocket screw. N this thing get the hell beat out of it almost daily. Cuttin stuff shouldnt cut, pryin in small amounts, people not catchin it wen tossed to them. It fell 20 feet ontop concrete and didnt even scratch it. Love that thing. However have recents just up graded to the super freak. Hopefully it proves to be as good as the grip
Just picked one up from BHQ for $119, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have pulled the trigger on one even though I was intrigued. Now that I have it, idk what to think about it. Same model, same exact quality of the one you reviewed except the blade centering is off just a tad to the left. Normally I probably wouldn’t care, but it’s a Benchmade so I do, if that makes sense. Anyway, I like it, and I’m not sure about it. I’d love to see a video of someone who’s really carried and used this knife daily
My favorite clip is the USA clip in the 940-1. I thought I'd like the bugout clip but I can't brace my fingers along it correctly or something just feels off. I've had a lot of Benchmades and never broke a spring either.
I just broke my original Osborne green aluminum today at work. I used that thing so much. Ita fixable but I am looking for another I don't wanna use the BHQ excusive yet I am leaning towards this one or the CF s90v
My guess is that Benchmade has had too many 940 exclusives and limited editions to be able to put it into the custom shop. The combinations would be very limited so you don't customize yourself an exclusive version. It's a good reason not to do exclusives and limited editions.
I just got mine so I can't so how it will wear but I like to wear mine cliped to my pants with the handle touching my underwear and I don't even feel it with my pants tight and sitting down. Obviously not cut off circulation tight but they aren't falling down. The clip is strong enough however, to pull up my pants (empty pockets) without moving the knife at all. If I wanted to pull it off its still easy. First knife I have ever purchased so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
My 945 has blue thumb studs to match the barrel spacers. And an mxg clip the finish has already started to scratch off so I will be getting it stone washed by a friend soon
I’m glad I got one early and have enjoyed carrying it but no it’s not better and arguably not even as good as a 940 or other 940-dash-whatevs. I continuously select one of my small Sebenzas, Mnundi and even Para 3 LW to carry over the mini 940. Good vid as always.
Wish the fit and finish made its way to my CF-Elite Bugout. Knife blade is bent out of the box! Thought it was just a centering thing, put flytanium scales on it (voiding warranty). Found out wasn't a centering issue... NICE!
Put the stock scales back on and send it in. I've never had warranty issues with them and I take them apart so I don't think they'd know or care. In the end, it's still their flaw out of the box so I wouldn't feel bad do that.
@@jesseadams45 I was thinking of trying that. I wasn't sure whether they would somehow figure it out. I've had it for a while so I said F-it and changed out more hardware (replaced pivot and other hardware with TI sets). @@Paa375 I would say yes unless you get the carbon fiber/blue accents bugout with s90v. It’s called the 535-3 and I would say that knife is worth the money for sure.
OMEGA SPRINGS DO BREAK! Maybe it’s because I am constantly fidgeting and flipping my knives all throughout the day but the omega springs in every single one of the benchmade knives I own (535, 535-3, 940-1, 556) have broken before I’ve even owned any of them for two months! I think benchmade must be doing something really wrong when making their omega springs lately because Idk how I can be that unlucky. I know I flip the axis locks hundreds of times a day but that’s still no excuse for these shite omega springs when I’m paying hundreds of dollars for these knives. I expect the springs to last a lot longer than one flipping month! I was always a fan of benchmade knives before i actually owned any but they have let me down more and more with every omega spring that fails. Shoulda gone with the spider on manix 2!
In a word no. Making a knife smaller and falling into this "mini" "edc" tiny knife trend it the worst thing that can happen to any design. The 940, the Adamas, especially don't need this change for any reason. In fact a larger 3.75 inch 940 would have been a better idea.

@@metal_complex yes I did. I never think about those poor people that have such limits. Was just referring to everyone else I suppose.
@@metal_complex to be honest the fact that it has a lock still makes it ilegal to carry in alot of countries even though it is less than 3" . We can still have it as an edc knife around the house but for that price i think i prefer the original 940.
