My God does this bring me back to my 1972 H1 disk brake model. Both horrifying and ridiculously satisfying in some crazy mishmash of engineering unbalanced lunacy. The bike personified my youth, terror, joy, fear, terror, joy, horror, wonder, giggles, etc, etc, etc. All the emotions in a matter of minutes, deeply ingrained in my memory. Thank you for sharing all that luscious cylinder fin rattling experience once again for those who knew the madness and sometimes splendor of the H1. Ciao.
Damn I miss these bikes. I was a Kawasaki tech back in the day and owned five of these. Two 1969's, two 1975's and a 1976. I modified them all, ported, 34 mm carbs, Denco open chambers and lots of careful tuning. God the acceleration and wheelies were fantastic and the fact that I weighed 120 pounds at the time helped. Drag raced one of the 1975's for several years, best time 11.54 at 117.33mph.

A wag once said Kawasaki’s H series were chainsaws with wheels; it’s up for grabs whether that description is disparaging or a complement. All I know is that I wish I could ride one for more than the ten minutes I had back in ‘71 . . .
i agree but kawaski dealers do not want to work on this model anymore. i was a person who owned many of these bikes back in the mid 80's, back then a mid level port and polish was 19 dollars per cylnder, in 1991 i was told by the kawi dealer that for that service it would "cost me nothing but money". i dont know of anyone who still makes after market parts, i can rebuild these motors damm near with a blindfold on but the things needed to make these bikes monsters are no longer avialable to the faint of wallet. sad but true.
I agree they don't want them anymore. Back in 1980 I took a 72 H2 to Kawasaki of St Pete in Fla. and they screwed it up bad. Never ran right after the port and polish. My point was to bring back a new line. I don't care if it's Yamaha or Suzuki. Just fun 2 stroke action. Thanks Noel.
In reality these make about the same as a 500cc motorcross bike, around 60 hp. There is much room for improvement on these if you have the means and skill to improve them..
Dr. Hugo G. Hackenbush no disrespect intended, but these are over 50 years old, can you imagine getting off your 305 super hawk or xlch and hopping on a rocket like this in 1969 ? I still have mine, and JeezLouise what a rush it still is! A word of caution never armour all the seat!

I had the 1972 350 S2 triple, and I still have it to this day. Great bike, and lots of power and torque for a 350.
The Kawasaki Mach 3 has a unique sound - induction roar plus exhaust howl. Fantastic!

Had a H1 in 74' was my first street bike as a 15 year old. Was a ton fun ! Regret selling it to this day!
