  • Daniel struggles to survive in a post-apocalyptic world, while coping with the loss of everything he once knew and loved.
    - (PLEASE READ *POSSIBLE SPOILERS*) We worked on this film as high school seniors with the intent of it being our very first feature length film back in 2011. It was made with a non existent budget, and we did what we could with what we had. Several times the production came to a halt and then picked back up once again, until it finally came to an end completely. We didn't get to shoot roughly 1/3 of the film, but I was able to salvage what we had shot in order to create it into what you see here. Some scenes had to be moved around, while some were never finished and had to be cut. So if you notice some inconsistencies or continuity errors that's most likely why, but we figured it was better to make due with what we had shot instead of the project going to waste completely.
Many have been asking about the ending, what truly happened, and whether or not there will be a sequel. Unfortunately, the answer is no. At least not with the same cast due to the main actor moving and losing contact with him. We may one day try to rework the script and reshoot it but I do not wish to make any false promises. We are currently working on a post-apocalyptic series that may share some similarities with this film due to us not thinking this was ever going to see the light of day at the beginning of shooting. We wish to have some of it release by summers end, so if you would like to see that please consider subscribing.
As for the ending, we realize now that the ending can be and has been taken many different ways by many people, which is totally fine with us.

Mark, I'd like to congratulate you on "Year Six" If for no other reason, just getting it done. I started making Super 8 films in the 6th grade, and I've worked professionally as an actor, comic, and writer in films and TV since 1988, and I wanted to let you know, watching your film actually inspired me. Keep up the good work, and don't ever think you need to come out here to Hollywood to "make it!" because you've already done more at your age than most of the so-called professionals in LA. More than anything, I give you credit for getting it made - THATS the hardest thing to do. I've personally failed at as many projects as I've succeeded at, and I'm only talking about actually getting them finished. People who sit out there doing nothing but talking will never know how it feels to accomplish something like this - You do. Keep slugging away, good luck, and keep up the good work! :)

I spent the first 15 minutes thinking this was a properly financed and professional film piece.

This production just goes to show that it doesn't take overpaid and famous actors and ludicrous hollyweird budgets to create a wonderful film. Truly entertaining. WELL DONE ALL OF YOU!

Nobody is going to say that Timothy Chivallete did a good job... so I'm here to say Timothy Chivalette did a great job. He showed more actual emotion than everyone else in the film. Good job by everyone.

Been watching a lot of these short films on here and I must say that they put Hollywood to shame. With no budget and they turn out a short movie that you want to see more of whereas Hollywood turn out a film that has a budget of millions and is a disgrace. Keep up the good work people

This is an absolutely amazing movie and the best post apocalyptic movie that I have ever seen. The camera angles, pacing, cinematography, editing, acting, sequencing and background music are excellent. For High Schoolers to independently produce a film of such high quality is a remarkable feat. I hope this film crew sticks together. They could have a bright future.

I thought this was pretty good even for a larger production company and then I read high school kids made this.

Disregard the negatives and the "I know better" types. I enjoyed your movie and appreciated everything the entire crew did to make it a success. I remember back in my high school days using a super 8 camera and you guys have so much more equipment (and talent) to work with. I hope and pray you go along way in your life and whatever ambitions you follow for a career. Anyone who can make a production like this will have a lot of possibilities for their life.

The availability of low cost HD filming has the potential to completely redefine and break the barriers of traditional movie making. It's a great step forward

I must say, excellent film. I thought you did a great job. The cinematography and locations were perfect and really amplified the mood. The lo-fi minimalist indie music really fit well. Kind of the way John Carpenter used constant finger snaps or low drum beats in the background throughout his films. Like an ever present anticipation build up for something that never happens and leaves you nervous. You found a balance of action and introspective down time. Constant action is the ruin of many films that have much better potential. The slower, more realistic scenes give the viewer time to ponder what life would really be like in a world like you portrayed and how brutal it would actually be. An hour well spent. Thank you so much.

Cinematography framing and composition balance of characters and background elements is excellent, often beautiful. I can immediately think of another director - that had this rare "artist's eye" for the pictorial aspect of a story. That person was Stanley Kubrick.
