Love this interview! In addition to all of the insights Dr. Stein shared, I really appreciate what she said about predisposition not being the final word on illness. One of the many things that has surprised me so far in my recovery is that at some point I realized I wasn't getting many migraines anymore. I used to get them all the time and never tried to do anything about it because they run in my family so I thought I was just stuck with them, but it seems that the work I'm doing to recover from ME has inadvertently reduced my migraines dramatically. It's amazing what can happen when you have the tools and resources you need to take good care of your body.

This was one of my most enlightening interviews. My own recovery story shares multiple similarities with hers. I also learned so much from Dr. Stein about the history of ME/CFS and ME/CFS research, and loved what she said about the healing cycle and the layers of healing. I included timestamps in the description and how to reach Dr. Stein. She is retired from medical practice, but has wonderful resources to help others heal. I hope people watching this learn stuff and are given hope. Sending lots of warm wishes this holiday season and for the new year.

What a great interview! I am a big fan of Dr. Stein - who makes important points about:
Leaky gut (I am so fed up of hearing Doctors dismiss this condition, that I had!)
    Management
The need for an integrated approach.
And you ask great questions Liz! Thanks to you both for the work you do to bring hope to people with these conditions.

So much excellent information here!! As it’s been about the same length of time for me too it’s great to hear that Eleanor is now living such a great life.
Very impressed you stayed off chocolate so long Liz 😳😳
Find it terribly disappointing that a practitioner would charge $10, 000 to see them , they should be ashamed of themselves 😬
Excellent interview, thank you ladies 🥳

On the adrenals, in addition to HPA axis issues, a 1999 study showed ME patients had adrenal glands that have shrunk by 50%. That might cause lowered output also. (Study is called 'smaller adrenal glands in chronic fatigue syndrome' Scott et al.
Anyway, this is a great interview and I really appreciated hearing Stein's story. I had thought from a previous interview that she was a pure carnivore though rather than AIP.

I have followed Dr Steins work for a while - and done her Pathways of Improvement course, and it is great, I learned a lot. She is very knowledgable, and you feel safe - she does not recommend things that is unsafe. I was so great to hear her story. Very helpful and so inspiering! Thank you Liz 💚

They now have a Vitamin D3/K2 transdermal patch and with IBS, that is a game changer for people like me who live in dark latitudes. Also, I wonder about this Carnivore diet...it seems people have healed from CFS on that...and fairly quickly like 6 months or less for some, longer for others. One woman healed from MS without the veggies or fruit, just meat.

Do it.. id transition from not to low carb tapering carbs. Then clean keto. Upping salt as you taper. I took 6g sodium, 6 g potassium and 200mg magnesium a day and felt my best. Learned a lot about my low blood pressure and how much i was under salting. Meat heavy is important regardless of diet but ketosis sure is special if you get the salt right.
If you need to llse weight you can play around with amount of fat you intake. Switching to animal based fats 95% of the time is a huge help. So is grain free especially gluten.
It really helps my joints and i have hypermobile ehlers danlos syndrome and have a lot of joint pain. Lowering fatty liver helps reduce joint pain as it reduces an enzyme that removes the lining of joints (cant get it back). Would really encourage 2 videos by dr paul mason- lectins and the 2nd is on fiber. Low carb down under is a great resource. Dr ken berry, carb addiction doc.. theyre all keto friendly but all carnivores themselves.
Dr ben bikman is a phd that studies fat metabolism and all his info is great.
Go for it but taper and salt, salt baby!!❤❤❤

It's hard to find anyone who can answer questions but I thought I'd ask. I have a lot of issues/illnesses but wanted to ask, is self-loathing a part of limbic system impairment for some people? I have been sick for 15 years (but, of course, realize the its have been going on a longer time).

I think it is Lisa - looking for faults seems related to being in fight-or-flight, but I think the root has to do with childhood experiences and our coping mechanisms. Hoping you can find some self-compassion or external things/people that bring you support. Give yourself permission to love yourself the way you are now in this moment. And let yourself fully allow love in from a higher power and/or loved one/friends.

I find it interesting that Dr Stein is selling neuroplasticity courses and talks about unconscious thinking when she demonstrated so many cognitive distortions in this talk. Even her concern about jinxing her recovery by talking positively about it shows a lack of understanding of the power of the mind body connection. Some self awareness would go a long way towards healing the remaining issues.

    • @HealwithLiz
      @HealwithLiz  9 місяців тому +2

I think this talk shows her cognitive flexibility, as someone from a medical and science-based background. She has both a neuroplasticity course and a general recovery / lifestyle course. Her programs are more a fit for analytical people who want to see the science, rather than intuitive spiritual types, but contain a wealth of knowledge and tools. I think none of us are perfect, and we are all human, but I'm so impressed at Dr. Eleanor Stein's recovery from ME/CFS (no more PEM), MCS, and FM and her rich expertise. I know she still has the skin stuff triggered by the "buffalo goo", but in my opinion trajectory, open mindedness, and consistency are the recipes for the most robust health rather than just the neurolinguistic stuff, though yes that is helpful for many like me too. Sending good vibes.

Nice one, watching my hives inflammation fade day after day until they completely vanished was such a relief, I went with what I pointed out and within the first 10 days or so the urticaria was barely visible! I just go'ogled the latest by Shane Zormander and after 20 days my skin has never been healthier!
