I feel like the best part about watching robbie's videos, is that when he's talking to the camera he makes it feel like he's talking TO you, not at you. Super charismatic. Keep up the great work!
I customize Hot wheels and I was wondering if you want one I could literally copy your BRZ and make it into a Hot wheels if you want one just answer this . Stay committed
I'm sure someone has commented already but, the 4.8 has same cylinder bore, with a shorter stroke. In theory this makes it possible to rev it to higher rpms
the 4.8/5.3 block share the same bore size, the difference in displacement comes from a different stroke on the rotating assembly! 4.8 is just a de-stroked 5.3 block in simple terms
Another LS. I did mine right. Using a 1969 350 block, bored .030 over, I built my own engine. The block is pretty much the only GM part on/in it. Everything else is aftermarket. Forged 400 crank with 350 journals= 383ci. Forged rods. 100% carbureted. It's got a mild cam in it, gives it that wonderful sound, but still completely street drivable. Roller cam, roller lifters, lots of money. Done a little bit at the time.
The 5.3 isn't bored out its just a different rotating assembly with a smaller stroke. Both engines have the same potential and it really doesn't matter if you have a 4.8 or a 5.3. Thanks robbie keep doing what you're doing 👍
Just use a cd009 and you’ll need to get a fbody water pump and spacers and a different alternator bracket if you’re wanting to use the stock crank pulley Jegs has the brake you need.
Yoooo! that idea of a diy campervan would be cool to watch, that's exactly what i would want to do at somepoint in life. i've been watching SO many campervan vids, but most of them are old slideshow type vids, a full on series (that ofcourse ends in a "maiden voyage special") would be sick! #committedcrew
you can still go manual. there is a company called fab bots that makes a kit that allows you to bolt the colorado manual trans to an ls based engine. another youtuber built a colorado and it did 500whp on that trans. they are cheap as well. could be worth taking a look into if you want a manual.
Ive been waiting for you to drop and ls swap this truck for years! Im excited for ya man!! Since your back on the east coast hopefully i will get to see ya at a car show some time
Even thought we have very different cars just watching your videos is super inspiring to get me working on mine man. And watching your channel grow has been so much fun. Can't wait to keep watching you grow dude!
Robbie you have inspired me to follow my dreams I have a 1997 Chevy 1500 pick up truck that I’m putting the same motor in an from watching you makes me wanna work on it
4.8 and 5.3 have the same 3.78in bore, while the 5.3 has a longer stroke (3.268in vs 3.622in). Ultimately it doesn't matter, just about all of the iron blocks can make STUPID power, like 700hp+ reliably stock bottom end. What does matter is making sure you got the ring gap right. Get good heads, a good cam, and gap them rings, and you'll have a good time. Also, whatever trans you get, avoid the auto 4L60e. Can't take big power like an 80e or other transmissions can, or so I've been told. Regardless of what you do, I'm excited to see what's to come for the S10, as well as the EK and the rest of the fleet!
The 4.8 is the same bore as an lm7 5.3. The 5.3 is just a stroked out 4.8. The 4.8 revs higher and is more of a top end monster and the 5.3 is more of a low end torque monster for pulling. But you are right about the 4.8 loving to be forced induction.
If you want it to be a fun truck it has to be manual, maybe not the 4 spd you have but definitely not an auto. Get a tr6060 ideally or even a t5 or t56. Maybe even get a sequential shifter
I’ve missed you so much Robbie, I haven’t been on UA-cam for a while now cus I went trough some deep deep depression stages and other stuff but I’m finally back and super motivated to work on my mk4 gti !! I think if I remember correctly the last video I watched was painting the genesis so I have a lot to catch up on but just wanted to let you know I’m staying committed this time !!!
I have a mk4 GTI. From one Dubber to another, Stay Committed and rock that Committed Crew sticker your car as a reminder that if you Stay Committed you can overcome your depression !
if you want a manual might want to look at an AR5 from a colorado. They out perform torque rating and 5 speed will be better or find a 700R4 auto which fit right up as they were in the 89+ S10
Yea the 4.8 has thicker cylinder walls compared to the 5.3 or 6.0 but imagine how much more boost and increased cylinder pressure you have to run to make similar power.
i love to hear that excitement in ur voice when u talked about ur merch and then the engine good luck bro and stay safe come visit minnesota if u do a van lol
One thing about the s10 first upgrade the brakes/tires first because you must be able to stop properly before you make it fast (I hope this is common sense for everyone).
I dont know if anybody has said it but that 4.8 you have is the same block for the 5.3, the cylinder walls have nothing to do with it, to make it a 5.3 is just thr crank, longer stroke same bore as 4.8
The 4.8 and 5.3 have the same cylinders. The 4.8 just has a shorter stroke. The bore is the same, and people saying it isn't is a common misconception. The crank is the major difference.
School buses are unreliable, they’re not meant to be driven long distances either, stick with a van. If you want a cheaper option go with the Ram Pro-master but make sure to get the high roof
@@codygeisser5028 I'm pretty sure buses have to be reliable considering how much they're driven... I've been riding the same school bus since kindergarten, which I took twice now. I'm 17 and a junior in high school and I still ride that same bus. It's definitely got some miles on it if that's the case lol
The 4.8 and the 5.3 are almoat identical engines. The only difference is the 4.8 has flat top pistions where a 5.3 are dished and the stroke of the crank is diffrrant. All parts are inter changeable because the boar is identical

FACTS, love the content!
Finally I can explain to my buddies that one thing that I could never put to words and why I love his content. Stay Committed🤘
most always do that
This. So much this.
Facts!!
Same bore size just a different stroke between the 4.8/5.3
Robbie please see ☝️☝️this comment
Also 4.8 have flat top pistons as compared to dish from 5.3
Gotta admit, as a video shooter and editor myself, Robbies's cinematography has drastically improved in these recent videos. You're killing it dude.

That’s really cool!!
I hope he sees this, because that sounds amazing
He will want it
Just do it mate and send it to him he will freak out
I’m trying to do that rn with a 1:32 scale and I’m widebodying it as well
I'm sure someone has commented already but, the 4.8 has same cylinder bore, with a shorter stroke. In theory this makes it possible to rev it to higher rpms
Great video man! Super stoked to see this mini-home/camper build, especially to see what Robbie twists you come up with for it!
Didn’t even know a vid was dropping today. So excited
I agree :)

Bolt on a 6 speed t56!! Came in camaros vettes ctsv gto, basically all GM!
I made the same suggestion 😂🇺🇸
It came in the CTSV? Didnt know they had manual CTSV's.
So true, I'm constantly driving from Ottawa to Toronto to get parts. Can't find anything local when you need it....
Yes!!!!! I'm also doing a s10 ls swap!!!! This is so awesome!!!!
I have an 84 S-10 that has a 307 and TH350 auto trans out of a 78 Olds Delta 88 in it.

Get an ar5 oit of a Colorado and then get an ls adapter kit from fabot. 5 speed with goid gear ratioes and will hold 800hp stock
Is a 350z trans, they can hold a lot of power stock. Taylor Ray used one in his drift LS Miata
if you want a manual might want to look at an AR5 from a colorado. They out perform torque rating and 5 speed will be better or find a 700R4 auto which fit right up as they were in the 89+ S10

Damn robbie upping the production quality
You should do red crinkle paint the value covers on the ls
One thing about the s10 first upgrade the brakes/tires first because you must be able to stop properly before you make it fast (I hope this is common sense for everyone).
The difference between 4.8/5.3 is the stroke I believe. The bore is the same
Good time to take a break. Just applied some bondo, now gotta let it dry. Perfect timing👌🏾

Try to find a vw vanagan. Unique, different for you, has a stove built in and I think an expandable roof
A vid from Robbie for my birthday? Hell yes!
the first video i've seen was the video ofvthe opel manta where robbie said i HAVE TO SUBSCRIBE and now i love this vids
Always a good day when Robbie drops a vid
Robbie’s really brave wearing that white hoodie workin on cars. Goals
Maybe I'm wrong but isn´t it possible to put the banner on the inside of the window? So it isn't affected by the weather.
You forever need to park the s10 near the Silverado. Together they look pretty dope.
What bolts or screws did you use for the widebody kit on the honda? Luv the videos🔥

Robbie, I have a brand new in box LS2 intake manifold. Came for my old Trailblazer SS 6.0L 2006, if you want it let me know

The intake on the iron blocks is better than the ls1 intake
manualized 4l80e (basically a sequential without a clutch) then get a ratchet shifter for it

I just got a 1986 chevy s10 short bed .these trucks are geting hard to find

Toss the battery in the cab under the seat for the S10 man. Keeps it out of the elements and will clean up the engine bag a ton
Holley efi that LS and do a Holley high ram! Intake!
Love the s10 project I got a 85’ I’ve been thinkin of swap it too. V8 or LS?
very excited about the beanies!
Where is the aftermarket headlights from the old s10
Corvette intake and valve cover covers.
I miss my s10 so much my first trust when I was in highschool
Just waiting for it
defiently good choice in saving the ls and not selling it
robbie before: this civic gonna be my last "old car" build
also robbie: i want an s chassis
Dropped right as my class started
You might be able to bring that manual transmission to life with a good gear ratio in the rear end.
Is there a reason for turning the air filter housing lid to be upside down? being completely honest I have no clue
Love the videos !! Would you sell that intake manifold you have right now ? Do you have the fuel rails to it too ?
Didn't you used the paint on your doors the same you used on your truck?
LS fan right here 💪
Let’s go Robbie 💙
No to the auto trans, just change the gearing or get a different manual trans and adapt it.

Robbie, u said underneath your compresser and back in the garage and stuff like that. Did you own that house or what?
ooo im excited now man
Get a corvette trans if it’ll mount up?

You should put a supercharger on it, just for fun and because supercharger gives more power on lower rpm. It would be torque monster ;)
It would be really fire if you would start a lot of engine builds
Did you go with a 4" front 5" rear drop ?
I might be wrong but I thought 4.8s and 5.3 blocks were the same but just had different rods and pistons
Not first but im very stoked
Keep up the good work 💪💪
