Looking forward to hearing what your friend will say about being in Thailand long term. Im in Canada and itching to get out!! Please do share your findings...Also, how is the air quality in Chiang Mai? Apparently it is burning season..
The burning season starts in mid to late February. The weather is decent from early December to mid February but after that it gets messy. The air quality is not good during the burning season. But once you are in South East Asia, it is so cheap to fly to the other countries in that region in case the weather/air quality is bad in Thailand.
There are over 300 temples in and around Chiang Mai. I do not recall having to buy a ticket at all the temples I visited. These temples are the main attractions of Chiang Mai and are known for their magnificent architecture, design, and history. It helps to plan ahead which of these temples you plan to visit. About wearing short pants, Thailand can get very, very hot, especially in the summer, which poses a problem when entering temples that require long pants. Throughout Thailand they sell very inexpensive, light long pants for men/women which you can buy practically anywhere which you can put over your shorts. That is why you will see many people wearing the same pair of long pants! And, yes -- you can stay in Thailand for a long-term. There are several types of long-stay visas available in Thailand. I highly recommend you talk to an immigration lawyer if you are seriously planning to stay in Thailand for several months.
Thank you so much for all this great information. I saw those light long pants and they look so cool. I actually like them. The weather is already hot for me this season and I can’t imagine how I can handle the weather if it gets hotter. This is why I chose to visit Thailand around this time. As far as the visa free entry, it would be nice if they give 90 days visa vs 30 days. I heard the government is planning to change the visa rules soon to encourage tourists to stay longer to boost the economy.
@@WandererBell - The length of stay for tourists in Thailand depends on their nationality and visa status. Visitors from countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and most of Europe can enter Thailand without a visa and stay for up to 30 days. The 30-day visa exemption can be extended for another 30 days by visiting the nearest immigration office in Thailand. For a tourist visa, the permitted length of stay is up to 60 days from the date of arrival in Thailand. The tourist visa must generally be used within 90 days from the date of issue and allows an initial stay of 60 days. After arrival in Thailand, a tourist visa may be extended at the discretion of an immigration officer once for an additional 30 days with the total period of stay no longer than 90 days. Again, check with your nearest immigration office in Thailand and/or immigration lawyer if you plan to stay longer. While you are at it, you may also want to check short-term furnished apartment rentals in Chiang Mai or wherever you chose as your base of operations in Thailand. As I recall, you can find some very reasonably priced ones. For details, talk to a local real estate agent. Regardless of what you decide, do your research. Don't rely [entirely] on word of mouth or hear-say. Be careful and good luck!
They exceeded my expectations. Thai temples indeed have stunning architecture. It is a testament to the rich cultural and historical heritage of Thailand.
Queen Margrethe II abdicates Sunday. So the tv cover the abdication the whole week. On Sunday Frederik will become the 10. And Mary his Queen. She is from Tasmania, Australia.
You can see she needs the walking stick even if she has been operated several times in her lower back. I guess she has difficulty to sail with her royal ship to the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Every dane showed great love for her. There were some Faroe Islanders and Greenlanders that expressed their wish to leave the danish commonwealth. Some expressed extreme satisfaction with the queen

This is so helpful. Thank you so much. I am glad they allow an extension for another 30 days for the 30-day visa exemption.
