    Great document, thank you! For someone can be strange to buy private room in sleeper for not sleep but making video all night long. But the result is fantastic, you help many people to create journey like that. For me only lack of anything about border controls - is still in Kapikule necessary to go to station building with documents etc?
    Those trains are much more than just economic way of travel, they are some symbol of relationships between all those countries. Even if this was last year of realise sleeping car by CFR, still TCDD carry this connection by sending (half june to half october) 1 (yes, one!) couchette car to Bucharest. I'm affraid that new timetable (in 2020 start from Buc.Nord at 11:00 - night train...) can kill this route, but specially Turks believe that finish of great railway modernization in Istanbul together with ready new tracks in Bulgaria can keep it alive. I hope so ;)

  • @jfmezei
    @jfmezei 3 роки тому +2

    Have trains returned to Istanbul Sirkeci or was the stop at Haklali made permanent? As of 2021, Google satellite still shows tracks going to the station.
    Also, was there a restaurant car on the train? Did you bring snacks on board for journey, or buy from stations along the route during stops?
    Also, I know this is far back, but was the bridge over the danube between Romania and Bulgaria electrified? The track on the Romanian side doesn't seem to be heavily used. Yet, Google Street view of the bridge shows a LOT of truck traffic. As a main route between Europe and Turkey (and eventually China), I would have expected the rail lines to be of much higher quality and capacity.

    I have tried the Bosfors express several times in 2012, 2013 & 2014. The connections between Instanbul Sirkeci (train station) and Halkali is by a bus. I had to endure many hours of travel in a bus while paying for a train 'Boshors train' (2012, 2013, 2014). All of the Bosphors train express departing at 10pm from Sirkeci station (Istanbul) is a bus and not a train. Very disappointing.

    • @barvdw
      @barvdw 5 років тому

      Yeah, but it should be somewhere this year the line is restored. And taking a bus from Halkalı is already more reasonable than from Çerkezköy, as they've done, too. At a certain moment, because of engineering in Bulgaria, you had to take a bus there, too. Buy a sleeper ticket, travelling in said sleeper between Bucharest an Gorna Oryahovica and having to take a bus transfer to Dimitrovgrad, again some hours of train to the border where you're ordered to get off in the middle of the night, boarding again, but not for too long, because still in the middle of the night, you have to transfer to a bus again in Çerkezköy...

    hey you guys,Andreea Giambrone she is right.voi habar nu aveti despre ce vorbiti.Un maratonist pensionat,i-ar fii dat 4 ore avans trenului si fara prea mare efort,ar fi ajuns cu doua ore inainte.voi habar nu aveti cum sunt trenurile in Europa.Cel putin in Italia si Franta,merg ca la zidul mortii.La fel de adevarat este si faptul ca sunt bine intretinute,atat trenurile cat si terasamentele.Are dreptate Andreea,nici in 3050,n-o sa fie Romania in Europa,asta daca nu va baga gringos la inaintare,impotriva rusilor.Dar nu mi-e frica.Romanii au mana buna.I-au tradat ei pe nemti si uite ce s-au ales.Frunte ninsa,mana intinsa.

      It's quite popular in the height of Summer, with lots of youngsters wit Interrail passes taking this train, but this train is not running in Winter because of that.

    Has anyone asked you for your passport while you were waiting in Kapikule??
    Is there anyone who maybe checks the train every now and then,?? i'd really like to know
    thank you so much for your help...

    • @doc7austin
      @doc7austin  6 років тому +1

      +SyBoys you need to get out of the train at Kapikule to get your passport checked by Turkish immigration; shortly before the train leaves, border guards will come through the train and check the entry stamps

    • @barvdw
      @barvdw 6 років тому +2

      That border check is brutal, having to get up in the middle of the night... And the return journey is hardly better. Why don't they leave a little earlier, as to have the border check at a decent hour? Also too bad the train doesn't go to Sirkeci anymore...

      There are upgrades for commuter rail between Halkalı and Kazlıçeşme. This train will again come to İstanbul proper later.

      +Erkin i miss the old 8000 series trains of the Istanbul Commuter Railway, it used to be a nice easy minibus ride from Avcilar to Kucukcekmece, then a pleasant train ride into Sirkeci watching the kids hanging out the doors of the carriages, and the random people comming onboard selling random goods like torches, tissues, matches that you can relight over and over again.
      Ahh i miss those days so much, every time i watch an old Yesilcam film with those trains in the movie, it brings a tear to my eye.

      > easy minibus ride from Avcilar to Kucukcekmece
      this is replaced by a crowded BRT trip.
      > the kids hanging out the doors of the carriages
      impossible with E23000 and E32000 trainsets.

    This year is turning point for railway in Turkey, the Marmaray project will complete by the end of this year, which means the train from Europe will terminate in Sirkeci again and off course from Sirkeci, you can catch up to Pendik station with Marmaray on Asian side of Istanbul and riding the Turkish high speed train to Ankara, from there you can have a great experience by riding the doğu ekspres train to Kars, and then you can transfer to a train ride from Kars, to Tbilisi in Georgia, and then to Baku in Azerbaijan. I hope you can do my suggestion, good luck.

      Will the line between Halkali and Sirkeci be operational by the end of this year? I am asking, because I failed to notice any construction on that line; the line looked being in despaired conditions

    • @Alan--ho4gq

      doc7austin Halkalı is in Küçükçekmece, the engineering process in this area is started in November 2017, you can see the video of the construction on UA-cam, there are several videos showing the engineering process. Currently they're working on track laying and targeted to complete on August this year, then signaling and electrification process on September and test run would be take place on November or December this year, it would be open to public in December or at least before spring 2019.

      doc7austin the Haydarpaşa station also in restoration process for high speed train station in Istanbul, and the Marmaray tunnel under the Bosphorus soon Will not only for the Marmaray train, but freight train also will use this tunnel, but perhaps the high speed train will never use this tunnel, because the TCDD (Turkish state railway company) stated that high speed train will be go to Europe through the Yavuz Sultan Selim bridge to the 3rd airport of Istanbul and then to Halkalı, after that, perhaps they can start the high speed train throughout Europe. Because we know Turkey, Russia and Findland are the only country in Eastern Europe that have high speed train
