- This is a part of the famous TV Series "Dilli Ka Zayka" anchored by Vindo Dua. The episode was aired on Dec. 17th, 2011 on NDTV India and depicts a few Mathur Families of Civil Lines, Delhi. The episode portrays various Mathur Cuisines, their rituals and their inclinations.
Was looking for Vinod Dua U tube video and found this treasure .
Loosing Vinod Dua is like end of an era .
RIP does not seems to fit this fearless brilliant man . One can't imagine him to be resting in peace but such is life . RIP ,🌼

I cud feel a sense of pride in Vinod Dua's voice. After all he too is a resident of civil lines. Introducing his own residential colony or para/pada (any bengali like me wud say) is no small deal. Delhi has so many beautiful heritage buildings which fill me with pride. But certain people, cases & incidents have really dented the image of many beloved city. Wish I could cleanse and bring back the old charm of Delhi..
It was a beautiful episode by Mr.Dua, it's wonderful to watch again on the UA-cam.

Delhi mathurs and Rajasthan mathurs have different lifestyles, customs and Values from each other. Majority of Rajasthan Mathurs are vegetarian and do not consume alcohol. As per the 1779 AD letter of council of Pandits of Benaras to the Brahmin Peshwa Darbar regarding varna status of various Kayastha subgroups, the Chitraguptavanshi Kayastha are Brahmins (Kayastha Brahmin/ Brahma Kayastha) while the CKP are Kshatriya

Thanks for informing us about this NDTV special telecast which we had missed here in USA. We R Specially happy to see U with Nishaji & d.in law Prerna.etc. Have known several renowned MATHURS but never knew about these speciality dishes .
My eldest daughter did her B,A, and MBA staying at I P College Hostel in early 19Sixties It was nice visiting the campus again after 4 decades. Thanks again ..

the strict categorisation into srivastava , saxena , mathur , karn etc in kayastha has actually harmed the influence and expansion of the community , we don't see brahmins differentiating so much as upadhyaya , mishra , pandey etc , they easily marry amongst themselves .
Agreed. But now our people are breaking this.
I and many others feel the categorisation is correct because there are cultural differences. For example, some of these subcasts believe in dowry.

@@vaibhav286 Dowry is equally prevelant in all sub-castes. It is intact in other indian religions also. It is a Indian phenomenon.

Mr. Mathur & Mr. Bahadur, I loved the episode. Thank u for allowing NDTV to film it and for letting us know u a liitle better. The food spread looked delectable and fit for royalty. For once I'm jealous of Vinodji. Sir(s), is there a cookbook that has been written exclusively on the kayastha community, which covers both veg & non veg. food? Since I collect cookbooks I'd love to add one more to my evergrowing collection.

PRASHANT KUMAR Kayastha Dwij hote hai ... Brahmin + Kshatriya mix ... janeu or Talwar dono dharan kar sakte hai ... plus origin Kurd hai ... Kurdistan ki Kaya tribe se origin hai
