quick summarization which may be useful to some of you 1. Have a positive mindset 2. read ahead, try to learn the material before lecture 3. understand whats being taught rather then just copying it 4. practise questions you've seen the solution to again without looking at the solutions to see if you can recall them in an exam like environment 5. go to office hours 6. study with people who have similar goals to you 7. use online free lectures, these often explain the material in a different way from what might have been taught in your lecture which can help you understand
i agree with redo-ing questions in general for when i did maths (a level) too!! love how clearly you explained everything and how well structured the video is hehe :)
Practicing questions, proving the formulae and understanding the definitions definitely helps in the long run but I found that it can be time consuming to rewrite or copy notes as the number of modules increases yearly so I am definitely looking for a different approach towards writing similar number of pages compared to what my lecture notes show me. The youtube videos, websites for specific units or even lecture notes from other Universities can be really helpful too!
Very nice comment about re-trying a question that you couldn't do before and that you already saw the solution of - it would probably really help when having tp regurgitate a method quickly during exam!
Thank you Claire for the great tips. I believe and can relate to all those tips. I have been struggling especially with complex analysis and such stuff.
I've just finished my 2nd year, I found on moodle that the 3rd year content is still uploaded (I just searched the module code) and literally saved everything I'll be doing next year including lectures, worksheets and solutions, that gives me 5 months advanced to prepare
This is nearly the end of my first week, first year in maths, feels like im behind so much, barely understand all the theory and notation and then there's so many problem sheets to do...
hello Claire, I am a university student who just finished the freshman year, I got an excellent grade in physics but my math is not good. Thanks for your advice, I'll try to improve myself.
Hi Claire my name is Sophia I wanted to say thank you for making the that I just watched now that is very helpful because I have my Maths exam on Monday 4th of July and your tips are very important for me to know before I do my exam
I’m also a math student, these are exactly the tips that I conclude during my math studying. Office hour is really important, but I also didn’t got to any office hour for the first year lol. Luckily that I realized its importance in the second year. But for my algebra class this year it neither has typed lectures notes nor lecture recording which is so bad!!
I am doing PhD in calculus and I had never seen anyone who was explaining anyone about maths so much at University level it was very good to see that u r giving your worth time❤️👍
I had a positive mind set, studied, understood the material but got a 50% and since I’m not doing great I’m 99.9% failing the class😭 plzz explain. I expected at least a 90% from the unit test but for a 50% back😣
University is hard, everyone's grades look like that at first so don't let it get you down! You have to persevere with it, and maybe ask to see your marked test or get feedback so you don't lose marks for the same reason next time :)
I use Hitfilm Express 4 which is a *FREE LITE* version, whereas Hitfilm Pro is a paid version (cheaper than Adobe Premier). Hitfilm Express is *free* and *plentiful* for your video editing needs. See tutorials in UA-cam. Hitfilm Pro is for professional filmmakers who want more features like VFX, many you won’t need. fxhome.com/hitfilm-express *EASIER* than Hitfilm is Screencast-o-matic. I love this one for recording works on monitor and video editing. It is inexpensive. I love this more than OBS (free screencasting software). screencast-o-matic.com If you want overlays of funky fonts for video clips, get a free open source software Inkscape. Export files to format png (with transparent backgrounds). Drop that inside your Screencast-o-matic or Hitfilm Express. For Inkscape tutorials, see those by Derek Banas.
As you reach 2nd or 3rd year during this time where online studying is a major thing, a laptop is integral to your learning. Especially if you want to download the specialist softwares to work on instead of using a browser, remote desktop, vpn.
A good tip most people don’t do is stay up to date with the work. I used to miss every lecture in the semester and learn everything a week before the exams. Learning and cramming everything last minute is completely doable. I’ve done this for my first 2 years. But staying up to date allows you to get practice which really makes the exam soo much easier.

Good luck for your masters! :)
It’s silly how helpful this is 😁😁
You're an absolute angel. Great video!
Very nice comment about re-trying a question that you couldn't do before and that you already saw the solution of - it would probably really help when having tp regurgitate a method quickly during exam!

Love this!! Thank you for making it 😊
No problem! ❤️
You know the problem is not that math is hard the problem is that I'm stadyin with a all new language and that's soo hard for Mee .. wish me luck 🙃🌸🌸

Wow I took the same A-Levels except further maths! I will definitely try to put these tips to good use :)
Great video, thank you a lot
Much love from Germany
Thanks! :)
'you often dont know what you dont know' - the story of my life
Yep, understanding is key. Copying might work for geography, it doesn’t work for maths
Im in first year and struggling a little too much 😅
Please can I get tips on simple mathematical tricks which makes calculations easier
You're such a diva queen x
fab tips!😌✨
Thanks Georgia!

A PhD in calculus? What? That's nonsense

what kind of tip can you give a student who's studying Bsc maths online?
and what kind of approach do you need to possess to grasp algebra completely?
Could you maybe link an example of the youtube chanel of the lectures you’ve watched for studying☺️
Of course, I've updated the description box to include links to those lectures! :)
Thank you so muchh☺️❤️
This is amazzzingg, I am going to vlog my masters year too, what editing software do you use?
I use Final Cut Pro X (I'm not sure if they still do but when I got it they did a student discount), but iMovie is similar & free!

Did take note help what do you think?
Super😀😀😀😀😀
How do you do, my fellow college homies?
thanks
Ok
Do u need a laptop for math in university?
