- Argentina has no good relations with the U.K(USA Aly/vasal) and USA aly countries consist of more than 50% of the world economy.
- Japan has a good relations with the USA which is current superpower with no doubts and also their people are generous and hardworking.
You don't get a big economy by being an exporter of primary products. There's also a lot of other reasons, to list just a few of them the rich families throughout it's history consistently hindered industrialization to keep the profits from farming etc which they monopolised. Also like every Latin American country Argentina struggled immensely with political instability (thanks to the USA/CIA). Lastly in recent years other profucers for primary produce became stronger thus the dominant economies of the world (especially Western ones) buy less from Argentina which shows why just exporting primary produce is a bad buisiness model. There's some other minor reasons but those are the main ones I'm aware of.

Fun fact : Argentina's geography is good but not the best because it is situated in the corner of the world and it's very far from europe and asia so it's hard for them to trade.
It has access to large trees and the sea. Short trip wise yes, trades challenging. Large quanti though. It's just a matter of getting over that first hurdle of amount vs distance. They got natural access to the atlantic and the pacific through the southern ocean.

I was returned from a 4 month visit to Buenos Aires, and the exchange rate was 400 Argentina pesos to the US dollars. In the whole 18 years Argentina has changed very little. If you visit Argentina today, you won't feel like you are in a country in chaos 😉.
