@joan s: Perhaps that was why he sounded so terse, he felt like everyone should already be aware of Russia's position on the Ukraine-NATO thing. What he missed was that the message had not been passed on to ordinary people in the West, who were being groomed by their own governments and media to be in a state of ignorance, and thus more easily whipped into compliant rage when Russia eventually felt forced into a military response.
I remember the 1962 Cuban crisis. Cuba, a sovereign state , agreed to host Soviet IRBMs and America almost started WW3 to prevent what was actually a legal move.
But to date, we are the only nation to ever use nukes. We began the nuclear arms race in earnest with Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And since then, every nation with the capacity to do so - has begun to develop nuclear weapons.
Certainly reminiscent of the Cuba missile crisis but remember that the Soviet Union placed missiles in Cuba in response to the US placing missiles in Turkey which is on Russia's doorsteps and would allow for no warning of an attack on Moscow. Also, the Cuba missile crisis was ended by the US agreeing to pull out the missiles from Turkey. The Soviet Union got what they wanted from that crisis and it was the US that blinked. The allusion to the missile crisis is just to distract from whatever his goals may be. There are no missiles going into the Ukraine other than the Russian missiles that shot down the Malaysian air liner and it's just that the Ukraine wants to join NATO which would've made the green soldiers activities in Crimea difficult to do without NATO opposition. Even the concern of the Ukraine joining NATO is superfluous as Turkey is a member of NATO and on Russia's door step, having Ukraine join would be little different. Putin just wants his citizens to blame everything on the US.

I'm frustrated that my Congress, Executive branch and state department don't seem to realize the cold war ended decades ago, and that they seem to think we are the only nation worthy of a sphere of influence. America is not NATO. Most of Europe is NATO. And Russians deployed missiles and troops on our borders for decades. More, they actually invaded crimea and eastern Ucrania. THEY get closer to our borders, dozens of km at a time. This is just total BS.
Putin twists everything. Putin was the first to invade Ukraine and seize Crimea. This time around he was the first to place his troops on the Ukraine border, and he encouraged Belarus to invite immigrants and then dump them on the Polish border.
The translation from 1:55 is not correct, the president said: "кто создал Украину?" who created Ukraine? And answered: " Lenin when in 1922 created USSR...", and interpreter used instead of "created Ukraine" used the word "who started crisis"... It is not good to distort the words of truth!

I can certainly understand Putin’s concern. Maybe it’s time we become concerned with just our homeland. Seems like we’re always trying to get into everybody’s business.
Mr Putin talked many times about Russian security issues long before the war started. America didn't care because they follow their own hegemonial agenda which at some point Russia couldn't tolerate any more. It seems as if Ukraine is used to oppose Russia in a very direct way.
European politicians associate Putin with Russia. They directly say that the problem is not with Putin, the problem is with Russia as a country. Putin in their eyes is the personification of a strong Russia, so they hate him, and, for example, Yeltsin was the personification of a weak Russia, so everyone in Europe loved him, and Bill Clinton approvingly patted him on the shoulder. The West (Europe and America) has always hated and despised (and feared in their hearts, seeing it as a threat) Russia, and this has always been the case, for hundreds of years. The reason is that Russia simply has a different culture, religion, values, everyday life, food, attitude towards people than in Europe. And this cultural and civilizational gap is very large. Therefore, Europe for centuries tried to somehow weaken, and ideally destroy Russia. Both Napoleon and Hitler tried to do this. There is even a proverb in Russia: "What is good for a Russian is death for a German."

I agree with Putin that he has a point, but he is not right to go on a war, he should have put economic sanctions against US, Europe and Ukraine instead of going on a war killing innocent lives. If he had done that I would have supported him. So this is war is Putin's fault. If he had just put economic sanctions instead of showing aggression, many countries would have supported Russia.
The invasion of Ukraine is completely wrong. However Putin does have a point about 1990 and the west. The west has since expanded NATO and the US has nuclear weapons throughout Europe.
So why is it wrong? Putin has spent 22 years trying to reason with the West. His points are fair. The West is the aggressor who backed him into a corner, thinking it could control him with economic means.
Russia has violated every agreement they have entered into. Putin has place missiles into countries with puppet governments to intimidate NATO. NATO is trying to keep Putin (Russia) from attacking others. Russia is the aggressor and they just cry about being misunderstood. Don't be fooled he is giving propaganda.

For DECADES, since gorbachev/ yeltsin era
@joan s: Perhaps that was why he sounded so terse, he felt like everyone should already be aware of Russia's position on the Ukraine-NATO thing. What he missed was that the message had not been passed on to ordinary people in the West, who were being groomed by their own governments and media to be in a state of ignorance, and thus more easily whipped into compliant rage when Russia eventually felt forced into a military response.
there will be time shortly where he is tired of repeating the same thing over and over again to the crazy freaks at the NATO UN EU
I remember the 1962 Cuban crisis. Cuba, a sovereign state , agreed to host Soviet IRBMs and America almost started WW3 to prevent what was actually a legal move.
Right. I love my country but we’re gonna get served someday soon if we don’t keep our noses out of other countries affairs.
Quite so, as legal as the USA basing missiles in Turkey
The USA removed these when the Russians removed their missiles from Cuba. A tit for tat deal.
But to date, we are the only nation to ever use nukes. We began the nuclear arms race in earnest with Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And since then, every nation with the capacity to do so - has begun to develop nuclear weapons.
That's just what the USA dose best
He's been saying the same thing from last 2-3 years and yet the US dont understand. US is playing with the lives of the Ukranian people.

@@georgehollingsworth2428 Well i know they were pissed off at the sale of Javelin Anti tank weapons for a start. They be holdin live drills firing US bought missiles. The threat of Nato is too much for Russia and they'll never allow Ukraine to become an EU member.
