  • Hello UA-cam,
    We had some damage on the rear door of our 2011 Audi A4 B8. Instead of taking it to the body shop and spending a ton of cash we decided to get another door from the junkyard.
    In this video we show you step by step how to remove the door panel and take out the rear window glass. Then we walk you through the steps to remove the entire door as one assembly and swap it out with a replacement door.
    Enjoy the Video!!!
    Cheers!

    great video! my only that would make it easier to remove the door is to move the other smaller hex hidden under the plastic caps. that way you can just lift the door out of the holes vs having someone hold the door

      Thanks for the tip, we realized those existed after we already created the video. It would be even faster with no chance of paint damage using those. It's one of time those times German engineers got it right. 😎

    Great video!!- If your not swapping doors, couldn't you simply remove the 45torx bolts, and unhook the boot/wire hareness at frame? ( I'm considering replacing my a4, b9, front door speaker wire. I've unhooked the door/boot/wire plug before, and always seems to make the check engine light come on. Did you experience that on this b8 platform? Thanks in advance for answering

    • @BradleysGarage
      @BradleysGarage  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for the comments Christian, glad you enjoyed the video. We didn't have any issues with a check engine light on the B8 chassis. We did not unhook the battery when we swapped out the doors. There shouldn't be anything related to the SRS system in the door panel itself so I'm not sure what else would trigger the check engine light?
      Let us know what code comes up on the scan tool?
      Cheers!

    Looking on doing the driver side door as well as driver side rear door. Would doing this door swap need to recode the key to unlock the doors? (Touch)

      Or a airbag light?

    • @BradleysGarage
      @BradleysGarage  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks for the questions, you can always use your existing door lock module (in the door) and transfer to your new door. Then you will have no issues with the locking/unlocking functions. There should not be any airbag related things that would come up from a door swap. Just unplug the battery before starting any work and you should be good.
      Good luck on your Audi project, Cheers!

    What size is the torx you used to remove the entire door from?

    • @BradleysGarage
      @BradleysGarage  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the question, we have come across an even easier way to remove the door. You won't run the risk of scratching any paint or even need a second person. You can simply lift the door straight up after removing the two locking screws. They are covered by a small black cap so they are hidden (technically).
      Here is the video - ua-cam.com/video/85FTzPiBGjw/v-deo.html
      But the main torx that holds the door is a T45.
      Good luck on your Audi project.

    Howuch of this applies to a b9? I need to do this exact thing but cant find a guide anywhere. Have the donor door sitting waiting.

    • @BradleysGarage
      @BradleysGarage  Рік тому +1

      Hey Anonymous thanks for the question. All of the newer VW/Audi cars have an even easier way to just remove the doors. Another subscriber showed us this video which points out the E-Torx bolts that hold the door pins in. They are kind of hidden under a little black cap.
      ibb.co/Rv35TH5
      ibb.co/WWxj60v
      This method is faster and easier than what we showed.
      There will be a little black rubber cap covering the e-torx bolt head but after removing that you can remove both of those and then unplug the connector like we showed in our video. We don't have a B9 handy to look at but I imagine everything from about 2009+ utilize this new design for door removal. It is the same for front or rear they both have the little e-torx bolts.
      Here is the video - ua-cam.com/video/85FTzPiBGjw/v-deo.html
      Let us know how the repair goes, Cheers!

      Thanks. I've just went to tackle it. Can't get the glass out of the donor door. I have the same issue, need to replace trim and glass as it doesn't match donor cars. Thankfully I discovered before I took my damaged door off. Any ideas on the glass clips on a b9?

    anyone else have an impossible time with the rear doors? I did the fronts multiple times without breaking clips the day before and today it took so much force (including breaking clips) to remove. It was even warmer today (70 degrees for the high) and my car was in the sun for two hours prior and it just seemed like the clips weren't budging for some reason. I had 4 trim tools jammed in too and a few of the clips still broke... Side note, are the clips really that big a deal or is it more just to seal the sides given the 5 bolts are holding the panel in...

    • @NickBeKnowin
      @NickBeKnowin 6 місяців тому

      of course after I broke them I found this - ua-cam.com/video/WyNq6Y9ajxs/v-deo.html
      odd that the fronts weren't even close to as stubborn - they came out easy actually...

    • @BradleysGarage
      @BradleysGarage  6 місяців тому

      Hey Nick, sorry to hear about the trouble you had with the rear door clips. You can probably get away with a few broken ones for sure since the panel is held on pretty tight just from the screws.
      Thanks for sharing the video below though, it provides some insight on how the clips should work and the best method to remove them.
      Cheers!

      Hey. I have an Audi s4 b8.5 2014. I also don’t have the second hole on the right. The one to access at 3:40. Do you know why? How can I get around that? Should I just drill my own hole? The glass I pulled from a wrecked 2014 has two holes for the regulator too.

    • @BradleysGarage
      @BradleysGarage  9 місяців тому

      Hey @@Dennis-dx5qp, that is interesting that the 2014 S4 doesn't have the second hole but the regular 2014 A4 has the hole. We do not have any explanation as to why that is. If there is no other hole anywhere along the door, I cannot see how you would access that pin easily.
      It hard to believe that the Audi engineers would not have created some kind of access. The other weird thing is why would there be two different door skins? That would increase manufacturing costs and not make any sense.
      Let us know if you figure out any tips.
      Cheers!

    Any idea how to order new door from Audi A4 b9? Is this even possible for private customers?

    • @BradleysGarage
      @BradleysGarage  Рік тому

      Hey Gus, thanks for the questions. You should have no problem ordering the door from any Audi Dealer. It looks like the door skin is about $1000. Since the B9 is 2017+ it's a little tough to locate one in any junkyard. You can always try your local wrecking yards to see if they might have a wrecked car they are parting out.
      Otherwise you can check on eBay or FB Marketplace for anyone parting out a B9. Depending on how fast you need it will determine what option you might have to take. Good luck on your project, Cheers!

    • @BradleysGarage

      Absolutely CT, we showed the window removal part since our windows were tinted with a special film that wouldn't have matched the donor cars tint.
      If you are simply swapping doors and the windows are factory or have no tint, then it's a simple swap.
      Neither the door panel or window needs to be changed if your donor car door is the same as what you have now.
