Why are people even looking up a bass lesson for this song just to say it's "wrong" because he played the SAME notes in a different position?
Yeah, if it’s the same notes in the same octave, it can’t be wrong. I always prefer to play up in the neck for those notes rather than on the D and G strings. It’s also personal preference. People are stupid
It is good but it's a simplified version.
Good work, mate!!!

Then this is the wrong place as the opening is 3D 3A 1A 3D repeat.
Just look at a clip of the song and you'll see that it's played 3rd and 2nd fret most of the time throughout.
@@davidbrouwers7309 they're exactly the same notes just played in a different position.

Nice version. Not played in the same fretboard position as Entwhistle, but he gets the basic riff correct - lots of bar bands leave out the ‘hammer on’ in the basic riff, which changes the groove. (Entwhistle left out the hammer on in a couple of bars - so does this bassist.) If you don’t like playing at 8 on the fretboard like this video, simply move to the low F (fret 1 on low E string). Or pick up a five string bass and get creative. Or even change the key if you want…..
Not trying to argue with some of the other comments - but some people want to play every note just as in the original - others want to get the groove, but not do an exact copy - while some want to cover the tune and make it their own. Some change the key to fit the vocalist’s natural range. An older singer may not be able to sing in the same register as in youth. All these approaches are valid, as long as you don’t mislead the audience. Really, the whole point is to have fun, and maybe entertain…..
Who doesn’t like to play at the 8th fret? Haha. You could also play this at the F on the D (3rd fret)-That’s what it looks like Entwhistle plays. To me ear, the low F doesn’t fit. But I agree on playing that lead in note when going from F to C. I’ve been playing this up at the 8th and hit the F again before going to the C. I like how this is though with playing the open E and then hammering on the C. Might try that out. You can also get fancy and try playing some triplets like he does in that one iso live version. It’s almost a gallop like Steve Harris.
Thanks man

This is my favorite song ever and it drives me crazy thinking that Ox hated it because it was too easy and boring...
It's pretty damn easy and boring on bass. Especially so considering what Entwhistle can do.
considering i picked up the bass today and can play 90% of it, i would say that a trained musician would be very bored.
I came back here thinking we were talking about "my generation". I really, really stand by what I had said before
Very good!
Love this song, thank you
Thanx Cole!

EuBass, this is nice work. What would be the walkup and walkdown notes that would make this more like (not exactly like) Entwistle played?
Can You make the live version?

Nice, but John played F (3rd fret d) C(3rd fret A) and B flat (1st fret A)
And? It's the same notes. Notes can be played in several different positions on the bass.
@@Fireglo yeah ik but that’s how John played it
@@MysticalPhantom so? It's literally the EXACT SAME NOTE. If you're gonna be that anal why haven't you mentioned him using the "wrong" bass, the "wrong" amp, the "wrong" right hand position, the "wrong" soul etc?
Why do you play 8 and other frets while it's basically a 3 and 1 fret show for the most part?
Just look at what John Entwistle and Gary Sinise play with their bands and listen to the song. You can hear that what you play isn't correct.
what you mean by 8 is a c which is the same note as the one on the third fret of the a-string. the sound is the only difference, the pitch stays the same
The guy doing the lesson probably learned it by ear meaning he learned the same notes in a different position which has no affect on the sound whatsoever as it's the same notes.
Noo it's Fake !!!
Wait that's not how he plays that!!
It's THUNDERFINGERS dude...not some pansy ass bassist
the notes are those, I tried to emulate the thunder but in any case I can never have his touch.
Missing a few notes me thinks. And wrong position too. No offence but it’s better to play music proper as opposed to easy.
Learn the proper bass lines instead of the improper bass lines makes the bass playing 1000x better in a year. Watch isolated bass for same song.
