Call me old fashioned but I like to see what I am buying before dropping 600 dollars. Years ago I used to buy baseball wax packs but that hobby became to over saturated. I do appreciate you taking one for the team sort of speak! Give me old gold and silver every day!
There was nothing more fun than opening old Wax Packs back in the day. Fun, even if you didn't get any top cards. Just don't chew the gum, lol. I haven't done that since the 90's. I'd be afraid to even look at what they sell for now. It was certainly fun though!
This is where this fails in coins. They have to purchase these coins at market value. While cards wether they are worth 50 cents or 50k the makers makes money no matter what because it cost them 10 cents to create them. In coins this is a death business model.
From what i understand, there are so many ways for old packs to be manipulated, there's almost no chance of even getting an actual fair pack. That killed it for me. Even if there are legit ones out there, i can't tell the difference, so i called it quits
i noticed that same thing, big youtubers promoting this bs box got the red core slabs, this is going to confuse more ppl, it ain't looking good for the coin hobby.
I don't know how many unboxing videos for Vault Box are on UA-cam. However, I found 3 pretty quickly that all had a red core slab inside their box. And they only opened 1 box... Seems suspect to me.
It is interesting to see these box openings. I am no where near a conspiracy theorist, BUT those that talked about the boxes favorably in advance seem to get better boxes. I still think it is coincidence..... Yep, coincidence.
Hi, Ben. The first coin out of the second box appeared to have spots on it. Overall, I am not impressed. I would not recommend buying these boxes. This is another flash-in-the-pan gimmick. I think it will be mostly driven by YT. I bet they will be big on the late-night coin shows that attract people with little knowledge about coins and buying coins. I don't like the new NGC grading system at all. It will be too confusing. I don't collect labels. I don't collect holders. I collect coins. I will leave these boxes to the gamblers. $1,200 for two boxes??? I would rather have a mint state Flying Eagle Cent. I think 99.99% of the vault boxes will be similar to the ones you opened. SUCKA! LOL. HA HA. GET A ROPE! 👅🤣 Thanks for the warning!!! *TYU*
Hello Ben. Thanks for the legitimate box opening. I have seen other openings from You Tubers who seemed to be promoting Vaultbox and guess what? They got at least one RED CORE coin. One was a 1 ounce Platinum Eagle and the others were 1 ounce Gold Eagles. This is a "THREE COIN MONTY" at best. One time out of ten you may get a winner but in the end you'll lose! Gamblers only tell you how much they have won, not how much they lost. This is not good for the hobby anymore than the Lottery is good for society!
That has to be the worst idea ever invented for the coin hobby. I think you would get a better deal from Mike Mezak on the Home Shopping Network! And the idea is silly collecting labels, not the coin. I would bet a generic MS68 Eagle is ten times rarer than a 70.
I watched Blueridge's interview w/ the creator of the "Vault Box" and he repeatedly mentioned that this was an attempt to attract new coin collectors (particularly from other hobbies w/ similar gambler's packages). Except this is something of which nobody outside of numismatics/precious metal stacking knew, so nearly all of these were likely snatched up by flippers. It turns out the "Vault Box" is what I thought it would be: the "loot crate" of coin collecting (and w/ all the hype from the prominent collector/stacker YT channels that it entails), except at least the items w/in have intrinsic value, so none are a complete waste of money.
I initially liked the idea of gambling on a box that might yield something nice, but the fact that 1) these are unremarkable silver eagles and 2) the value doesn't even come close to what was paid is really, really sketchy. The boxes above look like they are curated to be terrible. Then to be sold out within two days and scooped up by scalpers is just awful.
@@tomtalley2192 hi im 23 but i been collecting for 10 years since i was 13 am I considered a newbe?? Lol btw this is always going to be my main hobby always
@@tomtalley2192 Not necessarily. If these are people accustomed to buying and searching boxes of sports cards, comics, etc., then they're probably accustomed to the feeling of "lucking out". To buy something like this and at least get almost 50% of the value back, rather than nothing, is a small consolation.
@@jamesg872 To your point of curated boxes: I think it's a little conspicuous that Blueridge himself found a 1oz. platinum eagle from his box (after interviewing the creator, no less); and another prominent collector channel found a proof 1oz. gold eagle in their box... but how many other people found similar coins in their boxes, but will never make a video about it?
Nicely done. Its an interesting approach, because while it is purely gambling, you never walk away with nothing. From what I can tell from other posts, you will “get back” around $250 no matter what. I think that is going to keep people coming back, human nature being what it is.
That's a cool concept, but for the price of those boxes seems a little slimy to me. I understand you have to pay for the grand prize even if you don't win, but that's a lot of money to lose on some pretty mediocre coins.
About $500 give or take. It's a scam to sell slabbed bullion at inflated prices. Honestly just plain Ole slabbed bullion is a scam if you ask me. I'm not paying a $20 tax for a piece of plastic some schmuck put his opinion on. I have my own opinions for free.

Ben you're very nice not to call this out for what it actually is , basically a scam. It's just a new spin on the unsearched rolls, grab bags etc where they show pictures of some rare coins that you might find. As a kid when I had first started collecting I would buy those from the back of coin magazines ,of course I always got junk. 😛
I'm to old school. The premium is way to high for what you get. MS 69 and 70 and PR 69 and 70 are very common, and they are bullion coins. Yes these are minted by the Government but really. For $600.00 wouldn't you be happier with a really nice 1914d Lincoln or a 1931s, 1924d MS+ Lincoln Cent or Three Morgan's in MS 63 or 64. Maybe I'm just getting to old to see it. Love the videos. Cool video and concept but being I'm not into modern see Vault Box won't be for me. Thanks for making and sharing this video! It was still very interesting.
Less to me. They are garish and detract fron the coins' beauty, the red ones in particular. The 10 point scale is asinine. Having them in a collection would seem to be bragging that you like to get screwed over and too ignorant to understand that 70=perfect. I'll actively avoid them.
Hmm, every single other vault box unboxing that Ive seen on youtube had a red holder so far up until your video came out. Really makes you wonder if there are really juicing these boxes up for other youtubers to hype the product up.
I always have and still do think the 70 grade is a gimmick. I have looked at hundreds of “perfect” coins and in almost every case I can find at least one blemish or imperfection. Beyond that, for those that I can’t find one, there’s always the chance spotting whether it’s milk spots carbon spots etc will develop over time To me anyway there’s just no way any coin can be absolutely perfect and therefore 69 should be the top grade I’ve been submitting coins for 20 years and trust me when I tell you getting any classic business strike coin to grade above 66, is an extremely daunting task I’ve sent in bulk orders of hand picked cherry red 1940s-1970s Lincoln cents that have deep creamy original mint red luster with all but mark free surfaces and full strikes and I max out at 66. Same for Wash quarters Franklin halves and Morgan’s. I’ve gotten many 66 grades back on all of the above. Some of the 66 grades coins actually have better luster than a lot of the moderns graded 69 or 79 imho Great video Ben. The vault is Not for me, but awesome video as always !
This feels so QVC. Plus with the weights being so telling, I could see unscrupulous people reselling sealed boxes that they know were almost certainly losers.
I do not see the NGCX grading scale taking off when it's so easy to equate 10s with 70s, 9.9s with 69s, etc. True collectors will steer clear of these boxes, although it's useful for content creators like you to demonstrate to others what they can expect to get. Always best to pay for a specific coin(s), and leave paying for the 'experience' to those who frequent casinos.
They probably made one box worth more than the purchase price and the CEO got it. These gimmicks are designed to separate fools from money. I'd say I lost a little respect for NGC but I've never put any value on TPG's. They are a cancer on the hobby
4 boxes $2400 if a random customer walks in to your shop to sell those 12 coins would you pay even $1200 For all of them Probably not.. That is what will discourage alot of people from ever wanting to buy coins again. MY #1 Suggestion to anyone considering buying these instead of buying this box, would be to walk in to your local coin shop and give the dealer $600 And ask him to pick out 3 to 5 graded coins for you or to put together a small mystery box. You will get way more value for the money better coins and im sure the dealer will be more than happy to do so
Also being old fashion and seeing all the other coin youtuber's showing the NGCX Red Box openings. One would wonder if this will be going the way of the baseball cards? Saturated beyound collecting needs and values. And simple fact, buying in the blind from companys that are in the business of makinng money would tend some of us to believe that it clearly shows just how over price the coin market is on certain coins. I do, however, like the 10 point grading scale.
I really wanted one, though I was unsuccessful, in no small part because I wanted to support the new NGCX grading scale. Pretending the 70pt Sheldon scale isn't a hurdle to bringing in new collectors (of graded coins) is asinine. I wish nothing but success for both Vaultbox & NGCX.
These are going for $1099 on Ebay. Where is the Kaboom and parallelogram labels? That 2002 1/10th oz gold eagle 9.9 looked off center and had soft corners. Ben your suppose to wear trendy clothes with a hat on sideways...then jump around like a maniac when you reveal the coins....then go crazy when you reveal the gold coins..... LOL
I think you showed a 2015 number 10 I'm just wondering if that was a Philadelphia 2015 2015 P being the rarest of all silver eagles. Approximately only 5,000 known ms70
Idk how to feel about vault box.. it's not how I would collect but that's okay. I just have too many coins I'm trying to find to spend 600 on a gamble that will only get me modern stuff. Not for me but as long as people understand they might LOSE money that's fine imo.
Ben, I sorry but what is the point? These coins have been put into a holder with an appropriate description but they choose what I get at a price That I would not pay ICC for. At least with them I get to pick my own coins!!
I watched your video and then I watched "First Finest" who apparently opened the first ever Vault Box to be released. In my opinion, it's a scam. He just happened to open the very first one and got a "hit" after pumping up the product for several minutes. And guess what? Comments on the video are disabled. It smells very fishy to me. Like they know which boxes are not the common core products and shipped them out to people they knew would promote the product. This is all just my opinion but I'm gonna say buyer beware until I see one of my trusted sources like The Coin Geek or Coin Help U legit open a hit on camera. I think seeing a hit on just my second video to watch by someone apparently in the knows just sours my trust immensely!
Every box is guaranteed to have one low tiered coin, one mid tier coin and one high tier coin. No box will be loaded with 3 great coins so you’re basically rolling the dice for what one of the three coins will be. If you’re an advanced collector this probably is not for you unless you really like to gamble. The lowest value of a 3 coin box is supposed to be $270, which Vault box will buy back from you. So you could sell the coins back and be left with a nice red storage box for $400. 🤷 There’s only around 150 total red core coins going in these boxes so out of the 2400 coins being packed, less than 7% of them have the special red core which will probably be collectible in itself. Will this bridge the gap for non-coin collectors? I really don’t know. It’ll be interesting to watch. People spend thousands on sports card boxes now to chase special cards. We’ll have to see how this plays out.
The stuff in the box should come close to equal to the amount spent. A bunch of people Getting undervalued and taking a hit in the pocket book so a few can be successful is kinda lame. I don't think they played favorites I don't they they cheated. I think they were on the up and up about not knowing what was in the boxes because of how it was done. I think it's a very great idea that just needs a few tweaks just to make it fair.... Like the fact that it's a limited amount of boxes available and the people being greedy and buying more than one box should be a nono so more people can play!!!! Greed sucks and is a part of the problem... Hifive
LOL, You said it yourself, "it's a great way to loose money gambling". So now how do you and the engineer feel that you both have lost $600.00 each? Bet you feel ripped-off right? Well what do you expect from someone who is in your own words "Not smart enough to open a box". As P. T. Barnum said "A fool and his money are soon departed"! I'm so glad I didn't fall for that SCAM!!!
These have been being sold on Whatnot now for weeks. Vault box provided the boxes to the larger Whatnot sellers on the condition that they be opened live at the point of sale. I have watched dozens of them sold and opened live during the auctions. On the Whatnot auctions most have sold for at least $1000 and I have seen more than a few go for over $1500. In my opinion, the Vault Box series is a complete rip off even at the $700 price. Don't waste your money on these. The hype will end and the prices will drop.
Talk about a rip. Looks as though NGC is unloading as many recent Eagles as possible. A bunch of ASE's a pair 10th Au ... Looks like NGC's decided to unload mediocre and play on the natural gambling instinct of coin addicts. Sad state of affairs. Money grubbers.
This concept might work for cards, but it simply can't work well for coins. For the card manufacturing companies, producing expensive cards (big hits) doesn't cost much more than producing common cards. With coins, the people packing the boxes have to pay market price for the material. Busting boxes of cards is a bad idea, but buying these coin boxes is a REALLY bad idea!
Half? I didn't see 1,200 in value. Most of it was bullion ASE's. Slabbed or not it's bullion, nothing more. I wouldn't pay more than 600 for all 4 boxes
Anyone else just totally turned off by all these gimmicks? I can't wait until we can return to there being some sanity in this market and collectors stick with quality coins and ignore the hype. Stuff like this, gambling essentially. Old holders. Green stickers. Odd shapes. Colorization. Reverse proof. Limited proof set. Sold out at the mint.

I hate everything about it, down to the residue that the tape leaves on the boxes.
Great video
I’ve already got the silver bug! If that ain't addicting enough...!
Break on through to the other side....the Lizard King lives!
LOL
Can you crack out one of the ones graded 9.9 and resubmit trying for a 10?
what for? to loose more money?
Awesome...
Damn so a $1200 loss instantly. That sucks.
Is there any regulatory process that can verify the seller's claims? Like a slot machine would be regulated? Looks like potential for shenanigans.
Saying "the residue is shiny" is more interesting than the coins within.
I think you showed a 2015 number 10 I'm just wondering if that was a Philadelphia 2015
2015 P being the rarest of all silver eagles. Approximately only 5,000 known ms70
LOL bunch of modern high priced junk
Ouch. Sorry gonna pass on that
Skunked
Okay, who exactly is the Engineer?😁
Mystery coins go hard on Whatnot
WOW Graded us mint bullion That is some expensive plastic
Idk how to feel about vault box.. it's not how I would collect but that's okay. I just have too many coins I'm trying to find to spend 600 on a gamble that will only get me modern stuff. Not for me but as long as people understand they might LOSE money that's fine imo.
Lol funniest video I seen in a long time makes me want to run out and buy one
Ben, I sorry but what is the point? These coins have been put into a holder with an appropriate description but they choose what I get at a price That I would not pay ICC for. At least with them I get to pick my own coins!!
i hope you dont mind me asking but are you the tall guy that works in HARRYS coin and bullion shop
I own old Pueblo coin in Tucson Arizona
@@TheCoinGeek sorry sir
Why not just buy the coin you actually want, instead of this mystery grab bag?
Ooooof! Out $600 on both boxes! Both boxes only worth ~600 together, not $600/ea!
There’s only around 150 total red core coins going in these boxes so out of the 2400 coins being packed, less than 7% of them have the special red core which will probably be collectible in itself.
Hifive
“Ouch” is my only comment.
You have a 1 in 8 chance in receiving a vaultbox with a red coin.
Do we really need this?
Seems like an expensive gamble and isn't it a scam that they're offering to buy them back at inflated prices?
People should just buy the coins they like , I think you got ripped off 😞
Talk about a rip. Looks as though NGC is unloading as many recent Eagles as possible. A bunch of ASE's a pair 10th Au ... Looks like NGC's decided to unload mediocre and play on the natural gambling instinct of coin addicts. Sad state of affairs. Money grubbers.
Pretty pricey
Hmmm - 600 lottery tickets instead?
Hellz no!!
Just like today's hiped up advertisement, to me a collector will loose money on selling these is what I think.
Hi, Bandit. I wouldn't touch these boxes with a ten-foot pole.
Your 4 boxes ended up like ours… hmmmm 🤔
This concept might work for cards, but it simply can't work well for coins. For the card manufacturing companies, producing expensive cards (big hits) doesn't cost much more than producing common cards. With coins, the people packing the boxes have to pay market price for the material. Busting boxes of cards is a bad idea, but buying these coin boxes is a REALLY bad idea!
I’m so upset I could not get 1
Or 1 2
Don't be upset. I think you are lucky.
I can already see people keeping these unopened for ten years and selling them for many multiples of what they paid for them.
Wow, this is worse than 7k Metals!
Gambling is right! Unless VaultBox makes money on the boxes they sell they will not be in business very long.
You’ve lost exactly half your money. Hope there’s an exotic market for it. And to think the majority of the boxes are like that
Half? I didn't see 1,200 in value. Most of it was bullion ASE's. Slabbed or not it's bullion, nothing more. I wouldn't pay more than 600 for all 4 boxes
I call it a rip-off 😂
Legalized Gambling.
They may not even be legal. 😂
Thanks for showing this... But boy I really really dislike this vaultcoin thing. Way too gimmicky for what should be a serious hobby.
Its seems like too many of the coins identified as rare are not rare in my opinion.
Weigh the whole box and coins
So much for buy the coin not the holder.....now it is buy the box.
Not numismatics, just pure gambling for the thrill. The results seem poor, but people will do it for how it makes them feel.
Fun, but scammy!
Asmr sir
I am definitely not a gambler. Can't see every buying this.
