- Take Me Back To The Good Old Days:
An original song by Denny Carlson
performed by Denny Carlson and Josie Meyer
*NOTE this song is a satirical response to a comment made by a conservative friend complaining about "liberals changing everything in America". We often talk about going back to the good old days, but what does that really mean for women, LGBT+, and racial minorities?
Chorus:
Take me back to the good old days,
I long for the good old ways,
I do have a mind to go back in time,
Take me back to the good old days.
1
It was our finest hour,
When the white man had the power,
The white man ran the show, He was always in control
Take me back to the good old days.
Chorus
2
When the black man knew his place,
He was never in your face,
He never made a fuss, And sat in the back of the bus,
Take me back to the good old days.
Chorus
3
When the women got the vote,
You know that's all she wrote,
'Cause then they started bitchin', We couldn't keep them in the kitchen,
Take me back to the good old days.
Chorus
4
When the gays were much more quiet,
They didn't have too much to say,
They hid in the closet, Tried to pray the gay away,
Take me back to the good old days.
Chorus
Isn’t it marvels how you can play an instrument and not even look at the strings . You can even be blind and still play a tune perfect. Keep up the good playing.
Excellent song and a narrative that I do find intriguing. I say this as a man born during the great depression. Better run of the mill folks back then. Genuine.
Wow ! take me back..to the good old days, as I recall my grandmother, aunties & uncles were so kind and loving to the children who stopped by the house/yard.to put some food in a Badoo leaf to eat with their fingers, that's in the country..the simple love & kindness. My my my.
i like it !
Mandolin playing very nice!
Great singing 🎶 and music 🎶 🎵 👌.
So ooooh beautiful...
Is it the blacks at the back of the bus, women voting or gays staying in the closet that you found beautiful in this song? 😂
Take me back to the 60s
She played the mandolin the way I like it. Great show, thanks.
Great song and voice, Keep it going both of you. Mick
Excellent song and performance. Josie is talented and beautiful. jus sayen ;-) Thanks for posting your song!
Very beautiful. Good performance
I don't come from quite that far back, I became of age the year the Vietnam came to an end, but for me there are as many good things about my younger years on the planet as there are today. Great job by both, great song and even though you meant it as a jab at we conservatives I got a good chuckle out of it just the same. I suspect there are as many people that agree with me as there are with you....but that's what makes the world go 'round.
How is this song a jab at conservatives? Don’t get me wrong I can’t believe how hilarious this song is. It’s so holy-inappropriate that it’s hilarious. But I get the feeling he is vibing with these lyrics a little too well! 😂 As though they represent his current way of thinking. ? LoL
What part of our Conservative party vibes with blacks in the back of the bus, women better off in the kitchen than voting and gays that should stay in the closet? 😂 Did you hear the lyrics at all?
You both are very good. Keep up the good videos. 🇺🇸👍
Blessings from Ireland, you are very talented,Fiona
Yes. Good point.
Good one I appreciate this
Great song 🎵
Which part specifically do you find great? Blacks at the back of the bus, women voting or gays staying in the closet? 😂
Great job
Very well said
This is funny!
Underbar röst en skön låt

You asked it as a rhetorical question, but there actually are conservatives who wouldn’t mind a rewind to the 1850’s.
…rewind to the 1850s as it pertains to this song or just in general?
@@CopperTop24 As it pertains to that decade predating the 13-15th amendments.
Wow! It is mind numbingly shocking that any living person would prefer to return to a time where slavery was legal, a movement to help women’s suffrage had yet to begin, they could not vote and were generally oppressed and gays were as good as dead. We live in crazy challenging times where sin and corruption seems to be at its worst, ever. At the same time we live in a time where the ability for positive Christian messaging is more available to the entire world, resources to help the suffering are growing and more and more help are reaching the distant, and ALL Gods people (ALL colors, backgrounds etc…) are experiencing more freedom, less suffering and more equality more closely resembling what God intended. In all of modern day life that is truly terrible today, we have come a long way from SLAVERY, women’s suffrage and the open killing of people based on their way of life. Surely no living human is so out of touch.
@@CopperTop24 I don’t think there are large numbers of them, but I have met a few. The common thread is fear. They’ve been manipulated by people telling them that they’re “losing their country”, like Tucker Carlson’s great replacement theory. Victims of the Angertainment industry.
Im not quite sure if he is joking 😂
It's satire- as explained in the verbal introduction as well as the description.
This song they get them kicked off of UA-cam I hope not
This decade really stinks, Take me back to the good old days.......at least 1946 and no further 1963.
I don't recall slavery being the good ol days. I remember the good ol days of front porch sitting, with family and friends. When all was equal for all. Somewhere around the 80s or so. He saying when the black sit at the back of the bus. LMAO. Listen to the song people. Not that good of a song.
Sounds a lot racist, the ggooood old days weren’t good for everyone!
Exactly. It is a satirical response to a conservative friend complaining that the liberals want to change everything. If we did not grow and evolve as a society where would we be?
Politically incorrect! Love it! LOL
