Just a few more months until my second novel “ The Victorian Vigilante” is out!! Don’t forget to add it to your Goodreads account!
    SYNOPSIS:
    LONDON, 1884.
Una Egerton is a woman adrift in a world dominated by man’s corruption and crisis. Riddled with a dark side herself, when night falls Una cloaks her feminine appearance and becomes the fighter known in the London Underground as the Silver-Haired Devil. But just as Una finally has a grip on her abnormal condition, the body of a woman is found floating in the Thames River in an oddly familiar way to that which claimed the life of her mother a decade ago. This murder sets off a series of events that fall one after another. Her alter ego is rapidly labeled a person of interest and the mysterious death toll continues to climb. A secret society hidden in the shadows begins to emerge having her question everything she thought she held dear.
Una must set aside her convictions and become the detective her city desperately needs. With themes of sacrifice and personal virtue, The Victorian Vigilante is a grounded take on vigilantism with an elaborate plot canvasing Ancient Egypt and the London underbelly known as the East End.

Out of all of UA-cam theres like a single digit amount of people who actually journal and talk about actual real writing. This is helpful because the space is just an art space honestly which is great but not applicable to most. Thanks for being a real one!

Great video! It never occurred to me how much of a drag it would be literally as a left handed writer. Hey super cool about reviewing Matthew. I have pretty much the same notebook and I'm working off of lecture notes from Dr. Tim McGrew (who is awesome) about the reliability of scripture. So my travel notebook right now is all about apologetics.

It’s funny but I keep coming back to the standard size of the TCo as it’s great for lists and the narrower profile makes it easier when you’re out and about trying to write on your lap or at a small table. And a4 or letter size folds easily into 3rds to stash anything you need to carry in it.
I took mine to our writers group and someone approached me afterwards to ask about it, it’s definitely a simple, beautiful style that catches the eye.
Thank you for your review. I really enjoyed it. It’s good to see more people going back to fountain pens too.

15:11 you don't have to buy their notebooks. I make them myself from paper (fold in half), and a card stock (fold in half), and then cut it all together. Easy peasy. I don't even bind the notebook, because the string is holding it

Such a great and super informative video, Alexander, thank you for sharing! You don’t need to apologize, these notes of yours are so important and I would want to know all the little details before buying something new, so I really appreciate those remarks from you, a knowledge that comes from experience and not from guessing.By the way, I love the brown leather, it is so pretty! I am so surprised (in a good sense) about the brown passport leather, it looks so wonderful. Can’t wait to see how it ages! Please note that the pen loop will make a mark on the leather. I have it in one of my covers, but I don’t mind it. If you do mind having the leather “used” (which I don’t think you do), just know that the pen loop will make a mark (I can send you a picture of it). Also, I really love the fact that you did a comparison between the two browns, I don’t think I ever saw a video like that, so thank you! I actually used the passport (I have in black) as my wallet for more than a year and decided it was too small for me (hahah), but it was such a great experience, to have a wallet and a planner all in one. Back then, I used the two inserts (weekly+monthly) for planning and it was great! Like you, I love the idea of refills too! In both journals and pens. I love that I can journal inside an insert, finish it and then add a new insert but keep everything else as usual. I love how simple and easy the system is and I love the most that the inserts are in the same size and can all be archived together in a box. It is so great. I wish they would have had more pages inside an insert, if you journal on a daily basis, these tend to end fast! Besides that, I love the Traveler’s Notebook system and I really enoyed your video! I would love to hear from you more about your daily life as an author and how are you planning your upcoming vacation (when you do, of course). I really enjoy this video and thank you so much for mentioning me, that is very sweet of you! Talking about journaling is such a fun thing to have and I truly appreciate your thoughts about it.

    • @alexanderwrites_
      @alexanderwrites_  Місяць тому +1

Thank you! I’m not sure what style you’d consider it. It’s part cursive, block letter and print. So it’s something unique to me I guess. I usually write in cursive but I developed this handwriting as an alternative to my normal handwriting. The letter “R” “G” and “d” tend to be the letters I use block for regardless of case. Plus, as a cursive writer my letters tend to flow together naturally.

You should use Retro 51 Rollerballs or pens that take Parker or Pilot refills! I purchase my TNs from various stationery shops around the U.S. that also offer e-commerce (because there are no stationer's shops near me, and I try to avoid using Amazon.) I just purchased the Traveler's Diner release because my husband and I plan on doing an Old Route 66 tour by RV soon, and I bought a passport cover because they have Route 66 Passport books to find highlights and collect "stamps" (and freebies) along the way! I love the flexibility of having multiple little notebooks instead of journals because you can write as little or as much as you want and can dedicate notebooks to specific topics without having a lot of empty unused pages when you are ready to move on to something else. Good luck with your writing and I hope you have a great trip to Europe!

No apology necessary. I’m happy to have found a fluid description of the use of a traveler’s notebook, and love the simplicity of the system. I’ve only known about it for a little over a month. And, I immediately saw beyond the distractions of, sometimes, well-intended content creators. I’ll just leave it at that. I knew I’d eventually come across those who actually use it for its intended purposes. I have a brown leather standard and camel suede passport, though I’m not a fan of the latter. The suede finish seems to be the current stock, however 😢. Great video. And my ears really perked up when I heard you reference the book of Matthew.

I just watched Brian Goulet's 10 year old video on these notebooks. He's been using one for a long timeThey have not changed anything about them, which says "if it ain't broke...".
Ordered a Passport-size Traveler's Notebook in dark blue (and the extra bands and the zipper-pouch thingy). I've been eyeing these for a long time, but they did/do seem a bit expensive. I'm just at the point where I need this little system on my person at all times. I feel like it will be worth it in the long run.
It is so refreshing to hear you talk about your personal thoughts. I'm all here for the great spiritual alchemist that is Jesus. I'm studying the KJV Bible on my own. So hard to understand the exact meanings of the old English(?) speech sometimes. I have found it helps me to read some Shakespearian literature to get in the swing of that sort of English usage. Peace be with you!

It can be a struggle absolutely. For me, using fountain pens and being left handed has taught me to slow down and be patient with myself when I journal. It’s natural for us all to rifle through it so we can move on with our days, but the above factors simply won’t allow that. I think I’ve found peace in the inconvenience of it all.

So glad to have found you! Connecting with other followers is such a blessing!
I think the traveler’s notebook is a wonderful way to have multiple things in one leather book. It’s modular so you can move things around and take things out when you’re finished with them. Plus, the cover only gets better with age! And it’s super customizable. There’s plenty of variations on the same concept so you can always hunt for something more to your liking.
As for a pen, if you enjoy fountain pens, the Lamy Safari is inexpensive and one that I’ve used for years. The only downside is that writing in a Bible doesn’t work very well. And in that sense you’d want to stick to a ballpoint pen instead.
Hopefully that answers your question or at least gives you a starting point!

You can comfortably put 4-5 notebooks in at one time. So that gives you room for multiple inserts whether it be a journal, calendar, prayer list, drawing, etc. As far as fountain pens, I would give it a go. I’m left handed so it was a bit of a pain to get used to but I prefer them over regular pens. I have a video on my channel with every fountain pen I own! I recommend watching it if you’re looking for a series of beginner pens. And for ballpoint, I’ve only ever used the disposable ones you’d find at an office or one offered by Ferris Wheel press that I won in a giveaway. My knowledge of those is somewhat limited. Hope that helps!

Really, please don't take offense at this, but it always annoys me when I hear anyone say "these ones". It's even worse when a writer says it, and much worse when it finds its way into a manuscript. I'm not sure where or when this started, but I can recall having to edit it out of a manuscript only on very rare occasion during the last couple of stints as an editor.. I was not only a writer, but also worked as an editor several times, all but once helping overloaded editors I knew. Iy seemed to be purely regional then.
The problem, of course, is primarily that "these" means exactly the same things as "these ones". Removes "ones" in any such statement, and you have a better, correct composition. There is one other problem with it, but it doesn't matter, so I won't go into it.
I'm old, and I assume this is just become modern phraseology, perhaps spread far and wide by UA-cam. Anyway, modern phraseology or not, it still grates on my editorial nerves.
Sorry about that. I really, really don't mean any offense. Long retired or not, old or not, I still think like a writer and an editor.
As for the paper and hand oil problem, I wear the same kind of glove when writing as I do when drawing. Only the side of my hand and my little finger are covered, This is a very common thing with graphite. pastel, and charcoal artists. I wear one on each hand because I often have to hold a notebook down so it will lie flat enough to write on. I know artists who use a thin, full glove on one or both hands, and with some paper that's probably wise.
I really wish Traveler's worked for me. It seems perfect, but it just doesn't work for me. The problem is most likely that I've used Oxford brand Black n' Red A4 casebound notebooks as my journal for fifty years, and the smaller size, which is supposed to be A5 but is a full inch wider, as my all-purpose notebooks. I also carry a 3.5 x 5.5 hardcover notebook in a pocket for those times when I can't actually carry anything around, including my messenger bag or backpack. I have a photographer's jacket and a nice fishing vest, but at times these aren't appropriate, either.

Excellent point regarding 'these ones'. I also abhor 'take and...' prior to saying another verb eg Well, first ya wanna take and get yer booklets...' which really hurts. And how about 'gotten'? 'I've gotten bunch of inserts' sounds wrong to these elderly ears. Anything else? One last rantette: 'gifted' as a verb eg 'I gifted this booklet to a friend'. Why not, 'I gave this...' or 'I gave my friend these...' ? Ah well, minor inconveniences. And, thank you again for your point.
