These beds are wonderful! I still prefer the Stryker inTouch beds, in the Critical Care Unit, because they have a wider variety of patient friendly features, but the fact that these beds perform the TRUE chair position, that's what's unique about Hill-Rom beds. The patient's feed touch the floor. In other critical care beds, the patient can be sat up, however, they're still essentially in their bed, because their feet are not touching the floor. That's the only thing that other manufacturers could change, because when a patient is on a ventilator, now only does sitting in a chair bennifit them physically, but it bennifits them emotionally, because it gives the patients a more sense of Normalcy, of "Hey, I may be sick, but I'm sitting in a chair to watch TV, or see my family." Cause ventilator patients like to watch TV too. Other great things about these beds are the CLRT, and P&V therapies. P&V being Percussion & Vibration, and CLRT, being the Continuous Lateral Rotation Therapy!

As a Housekeeper I thought this was a Great presentation, this looks like a great bed, the hospital I work in has many patients that would like the chair position this bed has. Overall a great bed from my perspective.

In ICU's we tend to move patients - wether ventilated or not - out of bed to 'sit up'. But with this bed, we are able to set the bed in a chairposition. Is there any evidence / research that moving a patient out of bed is always better that staying in bed, or is the very upright possition as good?

There is the 40 inch version of this bed called the Total Care Bariatric bed.
And yes, you can get a corded patient pendant for bed controls. I have the part number if you need it, with and without nurse call options.
