I've seen this car up front. It is cleaner than a new one. The restore job is insane. Photos and video doesn't do it any justice. It's cool to see it preserved.
A bit uncertain here.... She did not even know it existed? Well, I guess you have to splurge on something if you have too much, might as well be a Falcon. And no doubt about it, this one is a piece of art.
Not even sure you could say it's going tobe looked after correctly, an art investor isn't a car collector, but the new owner is happy to show it by the sounds of it. Better than being locked away so no one gets to see it.
If i had won the millions from lottery and bought a Gt phase 3 id make it my daily driver. id drive that thing everyday to work and to the supermarket and clock 1000s of miles on it.
Totally love what JUDITH NEILSON has done with the FORD FALCON GTHO as it is a piece or Australian art indeed I get a rush just looking at it. Thank you Judith it’s in safe hands now
Aussie muscle car works of art. There are a few more you could Add to this and make a collection. A9X for a start. R/T Charger ETC ETC. Now you just need someone to keep 'em RUNNING, or they will rot!!!
That is the ultimate piece or art, a lady with good taste, I wonder if she's married, I would love a wife that came home with the most desirable car in the world, At least no idiot will crash into it.
Yeah true mate, we used to give the Valiants a hard time, they were what we thought POS in the day, turns out they were brilliant cars and not given the credit they so richly deserved....
I think a GT with the 3.9 optional diff dropped it into the 13s ? A silver RT would be very welcome in my garage. $1m is just bullshit really for any old Ford/Holden/valiant
The Bolwell Nagari fitted with the Ford 351V8 was actually the fastest Aussie muscle car, 1/4 mile in the 13's. It was known as 'Australia's Corvette', beautiful car - check it out.
they all overheated, full stop, simple due to the water jackets were not big enough, till you put a 5 core radiator cross flow, then she was fine and also a different temp thermostat, which helped keep it cool, plus back then the coolant was 33% and not 50% glycol, also inhibitors were made different to current versions, like new coolants work so much better in protection and cooling? Also the oils used were not as good as what we have now days?
The overheating problem was due to the fact that the Cleveland 351 engine was designed with a water bypass inside the thermostat housing which would supposedly eliminate heat pockets in the heads while the engine was heating up..Once the engine came up to temp the thermostat would come down and block off the bypass hole..In a lot of cases it did not close completely and some coolant would go straight back into the engine without going round the radiator so the temperature would build up especially at the lights..
Not really interested in carsales They really need to update the app. You can't find half the cars you are looking for. Nice to see Aussie muscle go to a good home.
horrible shame to see someone who doesn't even care about the whole motoring history associated with the HO or motoring in general. this should be in the hands of a motoring or motorsport tragic who might enjoy it as more than a piece of art but a car that is meant to driven, price tag or not!!! even if i had paid this much i would at least want to give a drive every now and then. maybe even open the secondaries. lol.
The GTHO and cars of that ilk are mostly bought by investors who don't drive them anyway so nothing will be different with an art collector being the new owner.
such a shame that its going to sit in a corner, locked away, for someone who has zero interest in not only its history but motoring history in general here in Oz. And to put in a contemporary Chinese art area! it clearly doesnt belong. looks completely out of place. It'd be like locking a wild lion in a small enclosure, not being able to get out and stretch its legs. so sad 😢😢
I dont know history of this car...but too many people have been ripped off with fakes..rebodies..restamped etc..the whole muscle car scene is as dirty as.. and certain dealers have a lot to answer to..
A woman with too much money buys something of real significance to the Australian motoring community and at her age knew absolutely nothing about it nor it’s existence What a shame for that car.
Idiot, GTO? I wrote mine off driving through Scone in 1981, a beautiful Gold modified GTHO phade 3, It cost me 8k, and I cry when I think how much it would be worth now.
Looks like it’s gone to the worst possible owner, doesn’t know what it is, won’t drive it, displays it amongst things totally unrelated to it, will never see a car show or a cruise again, until she croaks and her estate sells it to someone who actually appreciates it for what is, not because it looks ok alongside hipster art!
Doesn't appreciate it, has literally no idea what this car is and doesn't care (she admitted to this), and is clearly using it as a literal prop to draw people into her shtty art gallery 🤣
Yeah who's gonna pay that much for a car that woman probably is scared to drive it, and with the drums of WW beating, we don't even have oil reserves in Australia anymore, so how is she going to be able to get fuel. Sounds like more money than 🧠 to me, keeping up appearances, oh yes, goodie oh, why not let it be Onslow's bicycle
That is not the case. Very many important changes like differently tempered steel on gear splines that all lead to increased performance and durability
"Nothing special " WTF!!! Doesn't the fact that it just sold for over one million dollars prove that it is indeed VERY special. What a silly comment to make, you sound like you have been raised on a diet of Hyundai's and Kia's
@@smartliving4464 nope, money doesn't make a car or human any better. underneath its paint and stripes it still a old XY falcon. my dad could easily turn his original patina xy ute into a V8 with a 351 cleveland and 4 speed Xb Gt gearbox make it go the same speed as a phase 3. for less then 15k. he bought his Ute for $4500 less then 15 years ago. tell me what's special about an XY phase 3 to you
Wow this bloke knows his stuff..GTO Phase 3? They’re very rare...even rarer than the mighty GTHO’s.
😂😂🤣🤣
🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣🤣
Was my thoughts exactly 😂🤣😂

Forget Santa & his ho ho ho. This is the real phase 3 GT HO HO HO. LEGENDARY.

Too right 👍👍
Funny looking GTO
Rare Pontiac
Should be driven not hidden!!! Sell it back to an enthusiast who will do the right thing with it!!....
Totally agree most these owners are the reason y they are so rare
Totally love what JUDITH NEILSON has done with the FORD FALCON GTHO as it is a piece or Australian art indeed I get a rush just looking at it. Thank you Judith it’s in safe hands now
I can guarantee you it doesn’t say 17340 km on the odometer at all. It says 10774 miles.

Why pay a million $ for Australia's 2nd fastest muscle car ,the Aussie VALIANT CHARGER E49 was the quickest over the 1/4 mile !!

F.b.s.
Wouldnt have paid that much even if i had the money. She knows f&$:all about cars and just has far too much money.
I agree. yeah they are rare but i wouldnt be paying that kinda money 100k seems fair,.
Yeah but atleast it won't be thrashed and abused

I think I've found the koolest Australian lady ever. Judith Nelson.

The only thing missing is the Dunlop Aqua Jets.
Contemporary Chinese Art.....Ummmmmmm
No, no home for a car like that I'm afraid, did she say when she is putting it up for sale?
Are you serious...They guy talking about it knows nothing about cars and neither does the woman who bought it.
Some people have a lot of money to spend.
In there with Chinese Art?
It's a Four Door Falcon 500 with a few extras The bloody thing's didn't have Rear Wheel Disc Brakes or decent wheel's etc.
I know who wants to know about it….the naughty boys
Not really interested in carsales

Just a tax write-off. Well at least we know it won't be getting many more miles on it 🙄

GT HO, Not GTO...
🥰🥰🥰💯🇦🇺🥳

Yes & The South African "GT Fairmont" had the Kilometre spedo....
Please, get someone with a knowlegde of these cars at least! GTO.....come on.
It's not a Pontiac!
Fastest 4 dr production car in Australia...Not the world
A woman with too much money buys something of real significance to the Australian motoring community and at her age knew absolutely nothing about it nor it’s existence

I am more interested in the "chinese" art next to it. China is the future......I think that's the purpose of the display
Is this woman single?
I'm availalble......YESTERDAY!!
Sad

Lovely car, but I prefer the Charger.
I'd forgive one mention of the 'GTO' as a slip of the tongue. But this clown did it repeatedly.
Motoring journalism aint what it used to be.

Mr Millenial, you need to know and say GTHO not Gto...FFS another newbie prattling on pretending to know.....
What a nappy boy presenter, has no idea what he is talking about. Pontiac made a GTO model, the car in the story is a Ford GTHO.
Is she single?

Good God what a waste of a Car. A travesty.
Overpriced family 4 door piece of rubbish with a big donk.
The R/T and Toranas much better cars.
Nice but not good enough to spend 1million no way. Nothing special about it except it's genuine mile's other then that its a basic ford falcon V8
