@@svchineeljunk-riggedschoon4038 The roadstead off Cabo San Lucas during the hurricane. Totally open to the east west and south. Normally a good anchorage but you need to be ready to leave at any time.
@@svchineeljunk-riggedschoon4038 I don’t know why he didn’t go to la Paz when they first heard about the hurricane even in the area although I’ve had it take five days under sail before. Like I said, if there’s even a chance of a storm you must leave Cabo immediately. He knew better. Perhaps he wasn’t aboard at the time.
@@svchineeljunk-riggedschoon4038 He didn’t sell it in Cabo. It washed ashore in the storm, was all but a total loss, so he gave it to my Swiss brother in law, Reto Filli. Reto joined forces with my other brother in law, Joe Daubenberger, and they salvaged the boat off the beach with Bernard’s blessing, sailed it to San Diego for a refit and eventually back home to Port Townsend, in the Pacific Northwest, where it remained for some time. I sailed on it there many times.
Everytime I see him or Joshua I feel like a total beginner. Respect.. He is my Idol.
Even after he abandoned his family?
My idol would be the one who stuck with it and then donating his winnings to the family of a competitor who committed suicide during the event.
