    I guess, you could conservatively, grind on the inner welds of the exhaust flange ports, of the bbk headers. Unity motorsports garage did a video, of his mixed up boss. Just, silicon squeezed out in his intake port gaskets, costs him 10-12 h.p., on the dyno. It is naturally asperated. It would be interesting to see, dyno results, in stock bbk 1-5/8 headers, to the welds being ground down.

    Coudnl't afford a fuelie 302 when they came out in 1986 because I just got my license. So I dropped in a 351 into an 81 body. Unfortunately the donor car had an inline six so the engine mount on the K memenber wasn't compatible. Torched it off and made the engine solid mount. There were no parts for this swap in 1986. Longtubes didn't fit and we had to create a nice long dimple to clear the steering shaft and the starter was a PITA expecially when mine failed after the engine was dropped in.
    There were no manual transmissions that would have liked that much torque so I used a C4 with a shift kit. It had a 2.73 gear in it, but the cam and intake was setup for higher RPM. It would keep up with an 86-87 Mustang until I hit about 2800 RPM and then I was gone.
    Without a shint new car and being 17 , I'd get races galore. They started it and I finished it. Everybody was scared of the 1987 Buick Grand National. I had a Vanilla Ice sized stereo in the back, gave one a three car start and by the top of first, I think it was obvious he picked on the wrong car. That night (just another for me) I had about 8 guys from high school with me and they weren't expecting that so I went from being a guy that POTENTIALLY had a fast car to God status overnight.
    Next year I would bring a 460cu big block Fox to school that would paint black stripes on the highway at speed. That engine REALLY didn't fit well. There were no parts for it. There was no traction for it. It was a very dangerous car. The 460 engine was $125 delivered to my buddies garage, where we stripped it down and did a lot of stuff in the junkyard 351 vid because that's all we knew how to do.

    Whats funny is when your video randomly came on i was test fitting headers for my twin turbo 5.0 build for my 93 lx .. lol .. so you know i enjoyed your video .

      Hello my name is Eric I found a 2003 mustang I have a 351 w that was in a mustang and the guy son whole had it passed away so can u give me some info on installing this in that car along with stuff I need to buy . Ihe car is a V6 5 speed so if I had to get another tranny what all would I need to make this engine work. What headers clutch everything

    Cant wait to hear how it sounds. I know its more work but i would of loved to hear how it would of sounded with standard fox exhaust setup (catback midpipe) Its pretty sad a company like BBK and even Flowtech are not selling a large tube midlength header for 351w fox swaps. But they offer forward facing headers. MAC atleast had 1 3/4 shorties back in the day.

    Think the 302 header on the passenger side would interfere with the starter due to the 351’s increased deck height.
    Either way, excited to hear that baddie run!

    I would have used the turbo headers and made some quick forward facing exhaust before spending $350 on tiny shorties. It was cool to see the fitment though for anyone looking to do the swap

      Ya i didnt want to spend it but ill have use for them another day im sure. Plus the fitament thing was a cool video to do for the community. Either way its a win.

    Mac exhaust was always my go to. Just never liked the bbk. It's basically all we got for affordable stuff now though

    Appreciate you keeping these stick shift push rod units alive! Saw ya at the swap meet and wanted to say hey but you had people talking your ear off. It keeps getting smaller every year. Hopefully we can find a way to keep it alive

    i put a set of BBK truck headers on my 302 Pickup years ago. they were supposed to be for the 302 truck. they Fit real Shitty! After my experience with them i will never buy another Set of Short headers when they are not any better to fit than a long Tube. The ones i bought were equal length and the Bolt holes were imposable to line up. They should have had a one piece flange. Individual flanges are ok on a long tube, on a Shorty there is no room to flex the pipe to fit.

      I just ran into this headache on the individual flanges after a few years they just dont line up anymore especially when they sit on the shelf not bolted up!

    I bought BBK 1- 3/4" for mine long tube, but have yet to instal becouse i have to figure out the h-pipe

    I have a AOD and I’m having trouble fitting my bbk swap shorty headers on the driver side. Will changing my worn out engine mounts help with that?

    What wiring did you use? Is it stock 302 foxbody? just wondering in case the Anderson terminator wiring kit works on a 351 as well

    Make the jump! A 351w! It will handle so much more power at 1000 less rpm! Been there, done that! Screw a 347! Build 393 if you want a cheap stroker! 500 idiots will be disagree, but, Noone believes that's a 306! 😂😂😂
