Just wondering how i can connect my camera to my laptop to use it as an external monitor (like a view finder). Been having a look at ways to do it, but nothing is working. Please help

I want to start a UA-cam Channel and make some vlogs, just me talking to the camera in my room. I got that camera about 6 years ago and it is pretty much all I have, no budget to buy a new DSLR. Do you think i can make a good vlog with this SX510 HS? I mean, besides creating a scenario and some lights, i have no idea what to do to have a good result.

You can totally make a good vlog with the SX510 HS. Don't be discouraged if this is all you have to make videos. Some basic tips I used is being in a quiet place (for better audio), make sure your have good lighting (Window light is your friend when you have no money), and have a point to your video. Whether if it's to teach someone a new skill, share your thoughts on a topic, or even provide an encouraging message.
Also don't be discouraged if your video doesn't turn out the way you envisioned in your head. We all have to start somewhere.
Also I was planning on making a complete guide on making videos with this camera. Would that be something you'd be interested in?
@@DillonProductions Yes, please, that would be really useful. i have no experience whatsoever with videomaking. As i said, we got that camera about 6 years ago, but mainly used it for photos. I saw your other videos on the SX510 HS and they were very helpful. Any tips you have on it i would be very grateful.

In my opinion Canon SX510HS is a camera where you need to configure a lot to achieve cinematic quality remembering it is just my opinion.
I also think that I will use it to do my ARG

I dont know why canon app does not let me control the camera using the phone, it only let me download pictures :_

Can I use this camera as a webcam?
Thanks for your informative videos. I am struggling to find where and or how to see if the Image/Video Stabilization is on? I am particularly concerned with video. My videos are rather shaky. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
You're welcome!
After you turn your camera on, press the menu button. In the menu, scroll down until you see "IS Settings" press the "FUNT./SET" button to access it. On IS mode, press the right of the scroll wheel to turn IS on or off. To adjust the intensity of IS, scroll down then press left or on either 1 or 2 to get more or less Image Stabilization.
In my experience, the IS is very minimal though. I recommend getting a tripod no matter what you shoot.

@@EvanOutdoors Yes. It doesn't have to be a big tripod. Just something to get rid of the micro jitters of hand-holding your camera.
what if i don’t have all that equipment to have audio can i just get a microphone and an adapter for the a/v imput?
You can try but It may not work because the "a/v" is an output. Meaning a signal is being sent from the camera into whatever is plugged into it. You can always get creative and use a phone w/ a voice recorder app as another cheap option.

Hi there!
Unfortunately not. Based on my research, this camera allows you to view photos and video on a TV and you can download them to your phone via wifi. However you can't control your camera in "live view" like you can on a typical DSLR due to the limitations of this type of camera. Thank you for your question!

Hey! I have a question, how can i restart the cemera? The lens is stuck and it needs to be restarted
Does it take photos with the blurred background? 'cause I have this camera I'm struggling with that 😭
One way I've been able to achieve the "Blurred Background" is to make sure the lens is zoomed in (not digital zoom), make sure there is space between whatever your filming and the background.

How can I use this cam for my pc? For example filming my face and playing at the same time.
I haven't found a way to connect it as a "webcam" but what you can do is record it separately then add it in editing. The only thing to be aware of is this camera can only record at 15-17 minutes at a time. It'll be annoying if you plan on playing for hours to stop and press record again. 🤷🏾♂️

You can (For photos). It's much easier to adjust it in Manual mode using the scroll wheel!

I haven't tried this out myself. However, I ordered a capture card on amazon recently. I can test this out once it comes in to see if this is possible (and even make a video on it).

It's kind of hard to say because it mostly depends on what you plan on using the camera for & your budget.
Hey man I have this same camera the sx510 and I have no clue how to shoot cinematic footage...the settings ..and when I move to manual mode for aperture customisation it only applies in photos as soon as I start recording it goes back to normal
Yeah, manual mode doesn't work for video unfortunately. I've only been using the standard mode (The video camera icon.) although the settings are super limited.

Do you recommend this camera in 2020 to someone that just wants to take good quality pics?
It's hard to answer that question as is. It really depends on what you plan to do with the camera.
1. Do you want to use this to capture memories of your friends and family or use this as a tool to make some side income?
2. What's your budget and what are you willing to spend?

If this camera is filming at Full HD 1080p it will use 24fps as its frame rate (For the SX510 only). Unfortunately, you can't only change the frame rate without changing the quality of the video.
