  • ✅ Get my help assessing your market and strategizing your marketing plan: contractors.ad...
In this video, I discuss how my marketing agency Adapt Digital Solutions has evolved over the 6-7 years we've been in business.
We started out just building websites, but quickly realized that wasn't enough to actually get leads for our clients, so we expanded into SEO and Google Ads.
Now with the introduction of Local Service Ads, there are FOUR key areas to focus on with Google, and the right approach depends on each client's specific situation and competition.
I explain how we use an in-depth audit process to diagnose what a client needs and develop a custom game plan to help them dominate their market and achieve their growth goals.

Can you make a video on how you assess competition in an area on google, and the strategy you would choose based on low, medium, and high competition markets? Also what makes markets their level of competition as well

Google Ads = not competing on reviews
Local Service Ads = competing on reviews
Google Maps = competing on reviews
Organic Search Results (below google maps) = not competing on reviews

What is your take on Meta ads for contractors in 2024?

Google and meta both work, they are too big not to. As to which one is bette. Its neither, its how good you learn the platform.

@@toby2120 Google ads depend on your area and how competitive the market is. If you are in a large city SM ads are generally better. When in a smaller town google is better bc it’s based on search not by population

Do you think SEO is a dying effort? With AI, Local Service Leads, PPC, etc, do you think less people will scroll down to SEO listings?

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, affects 2 out of 4 of the areas of Google you can show up: Google Maps and Organic search. It used to be that Google Ads was the only other section to show up in but over the last 2 years, Google has rolled out Local Service Ads thus adding a 4th section.
It's true that organic search is being crowded out a bit but it's hasn't been impactful enough for me to say that it's not worth pursuing. It's still very lucrative to get organic leads and customers for a local service business even if it's less effective as it used to be.
The way the online marketplace is these days, you have to play the game the way it's played. Right now that means showing up on Google in as many of these 4 places as possible. How to strategize what to focus on first is what I help people do. We almost always start with organic because it's going to be the highest ROI source of business and then move into paid avenues when we're maxing that out. Some day this will surely change but for now, this is the way it is.

Hey @Stephensry I agree with Chuck in that the SEO game is changing a bit as Google rolls out new ad services and is constantly evolving. That said, I just worked with a contractor who didn't yet have an organic flow of referrals coming in and needed to quickly scale while pivoting from residential to commercial work. He'd already spent some time trying to foster a social media presence, website, and had kinda retreated to only bidding on BuildZoom and some cold phone outreach which stretched his ability to run the business.. what I found to be incredibly effective for his efforts and almost instantly had an impact was automating/batching his outreach efforts with just a touch of personalization in each message we sent out.
What I'd recommend, depending on the volume and size of contracts or jobs is to consider building out some canned email outreach templates if you haven't already, hook up Mail Merge to your email and spend just a little bit of time setting up a personalized intro line for each ideal customer you're reaching out to. For example, I'd spend the first day of the week gathering a list of clients I wanna work with (maybe 100-500), find a small detail about those clients that's easy to look up (i.e. if servicing restaurants or local businesses putting their founding date and saying something like "I noticed y'all have been in the same family owned location since 1999...." and then follow up with a canned response such as "we're about to wrap up some commercial work and looking to take on a couple local projects. Are you anticipating any upcoming remodels/construction?" Each morning during the rest of the week you can send out those messages. This probably had the most immediate ROI with multiple interested customers reaching out to us and the best part was that the tools used to do this were completely free (just be careful not to send out more than 500 emails per day on a well established business email account, honestly 15-30/day seems to work well for now.
I'm noticing in the current market climate there's a HUGE desire for the human element. Traditional marketing/digital marketing, while super effective when done well, is going to incur some significant operating costs. I personally think if you can implement cheap/free AI tools to augment your own unique personality for fostering genuine connections with people, that will end up being much more effective for whatever business you're in. I like to think of AI tools/automation as a low level employee that does all your drafting and prep work, emulates your voice, but at the end of the day leaves it to the business owner/managers to approve and hit the send button in the end.
Hope this helps! Also, apologies if I covered things you're already well aware of. It took about 6 months of trial and error before achieving some great results and realizing there are definitely cheaper, easier ways to do marketing than SEO, PPC etc. and definitely want to cut that learning curve for others when I can!
