    Thank you for this video! May I ask where the 365-days or 1-year eligibility is sourced from? I don't see this timeframe anywhere as standardized. Is this a federal standard? Or is there a federal standard that hospitals must adhere to at a minimum?

      Thank you for your question. This one particular hospital’s policy. There is no Federal standard or minimum, so there is a lot of variability among charity care programs.
      Appreciate you watching.

    Thank you for the video,but what to do if I'm not citizen with low income?

      That is a good question. You would need to check with the individual hospital. Not all hospitals have a citizenship requirement. Wishing you all the best.

      Depending of the state you reside. If you are living in California then Medical pay for everything the same for Texas we’re Medicaid pays for everything. You have to be resident or citizen. There are community clinics that offer assistance to undocumented immigrants

    North Broward Hospital in Deerfield Beach, Florida tried to tell me they only offer Charity Care if I am without insurance. I have insurance (Florida Blue) but my bill is still high. The ACA seems to say that no matter what (insured or uninsured) you must be able to apply for Charity Care. What should I do please?

      It’s up to each hospital. Need to keep working your way up the chain of command within the billing department and hospital.

    Do you think this may apply also to an OBGYN doctors office or is it just for hospitals?

    • @ahealthcarez
      @ahealthcarez  3 роки тому

      This process is typically used by the hospital. Each doctor's office will have their own approach and policy for it. Thank you for your question!

      Most OBGYN doctors work under hospitals networks so they are under the umbrella of the financial assistance from the hospital

    question. Is there a funding source that would help cover some of the loss from this charity care?

      Great question. There is an organization called RIP Medical Debt that might be able to help.

    When my spouse passed away, he had a life INS policy...,. Meant for me to lean on ..... I don't make much in ss, and have to dip into it every month. Is my savings taken into consideration for charity care?

    • @ahealthcarez

    Are you eligible for financial assistance for the delivery of a baby, specifically a repeat c-section ?

    • @ahealthcarez
      @ahealthcarez  3 роки тому +2

      Great question. The type of delivery should not impact eligibility for financial assistance. All hospitals have charity care programs. You can call the hospital billing office and ask to speak with a financial counselor and then ask that person about the charity care application process... that will cover the hospital bill.
      However, you still need to take care of the Ob/Gyn Bill... You can talk to your Ob/Gyn directly about what type of charity care or payment options they have for the pre-natal visits and for the delivery.
      Hope that helps a little.

    Hello! I was in a bad accident about 8 months ago. I was approved for Financial assistance on 200k in med bills for the emergency with proof of receipt but the charges still exist in full after I was approved. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated!

      May need to continue following up with the hospital billing department. They are large organizations that tend to be disorganized.

    What do you do when the hospital knows you don’t have insurance and doesn’t tell you about charity care? I was treated for covid and billed $2700, now this bill is in collections

    Do the doctors still get paid? I have financial aid I'm feeling guilty going to doctors because I feel like they don't get paid.

    • @ahealthcarez
      @ahealthcarez  Рік тому

      Depends if the doctors work for the hospital or not.
      If doc paid salary from hospital, then doctor will still be paid.
      If independent, you will have to pay the doctor separately or they will likely send you to collections.
      Thank you for watching and for your question.

      @@ahealthcarez I've found that even if the provider is not on the list, you can certainly negoatiate it down by the self pay rate or the medicare fee schedule rate.
