Am I correct in assuming that a G9 with 200 2.8 will give about the same results as the S1R and 200 f4 with the 2x teleconverter on? Also slightly more mp to work with with the S1R If thats the case bang for buck still must go to the M43 system for wildlife? Actually just did the math again and the result will be better on the S1R as F8 versus f11.2 equivalence.
Right… L-Mount 70-200/4 with the 2xTC is 140-400/8. The MFT 200/2.8 is FF equivalent of 400/5.6. The 100-400/4-6.3 is FF equivalent of 200-800/8-12.6. The 50-200/2.8-4 is FF equivalent of 100-400/5.6-8. Lots of options. And don’t forget that you can hand hold the 100-400 even zoomed all the way in. The IS is insane.
Given that I sold my Leica 90-280 as I found it too heavy and unwieldy and bought the excellent 70-200 instead, for me it would not make much sense to then add weight and length to the Panasonic lens. For the very rare times I want long distance shots, I can just live with image cropping. If I was using a Panasonic S1R or Leica SL2 camera, with 47MP (I am using a Leica SL601 - 24MP), cropping would be even less of a compromise.
These will be awesome when the f/2.8 lens is released - at 400 you will be at f/5.6 an aperture perfect for birds in flight etc. So glad to see tracking work so well. Thanks for the show.
Why do I lose image stabilization when I use my 70-200 with or without the 1.4 teleconverter? The O.I.S. Lens switch is on. Yet I’m getting the red hand on LCD. Any suggestions?
Yep still far cheaper and longer reaching. Sure you can use the teleconverter and crop the S1R but you still won't get the same bang for buck @photojoseph am I correct in saying the Leica 200 2.8 and G9 will give about the same results as this lens with the 2x teleconverter and S1R but you will have a slightly more MP to play with?
The G9 w/ 100-400 is a 200-800mm full-frame-equivalent. So MASSIVELY more reach. Of course it’s slow on the long end; 400mm f/6.3. At 200mm, it’s probably about f/5.6, so that’d be 400 f/11 in FF equivalent. Compared to the S-Series combo here, you get 400mm f/8. And as Shiv pointed out, when the 70-200/2.8 comes out, you’ll have a 400mm f/5.6 with the 2x converter. And yes, it’ll weigh a ton ;-)
I made the test with the G9 and the panasonic 100-400. Yes it is more compact, yes it is cheaper, tes you have MORE reach... But I found it is not usable as soon as the sun disappears behind a cloud. For non moving subject, it is ok, but for a flying bird (for example), you really need a full sun otherwise your shutter speed won't be high enough. So now I have a S1, just waiting my 70-200 plus 2X to make some new tests
VIDEOCIEL well, I don’t that’s too much of a deal breaker since I would taking photos of wildlife in bright daylight, anyway. I’ve even come across crepuscular and, on occasion, nocturnal species popping out randomly on bright daylight. So long story short, I don’t the low light scenario will become an issue for me.
If you're a 70-200 f/4 L-Mount owner, is this something you'd buy? Or does teleconverting the aperture kill it for you?

Thanks for watching Shiv!
Thanks! Any notes about image quality? Is the 1.4x a lot better than the 2x in that regard?
Does it work on the 70-300?
Will these work with the 70-200 f2.8?
Yes. These work with both 70-200 LUMIX L-Mount lenses
thanks for your review. doe is work on Lumix 100-400mm? thanks.
Hi would either of these Teleconverters fit my 70-300? Thanks❤
I don’t recall; check the sales page for the TC and it’ll say what lenses it’s compatible with.

Make sure your Camera firmware is up to date. IIRC there was a firmware update specifically to add support for this lens.
I still want the G9 w/ 100-400 lens. It’s more compact and can reach out to wildlife just as easily.

"Not investing to dedicated lens".... there is no option... Do you know (public) plans for super telephoto?
I have SIGMA 100-400 L,feel long-focus not enough......1.4x maybe suits me better
It’s nice to get a little extra reach sometimes
L is not a lens mount.
Um… yes it is.
