A NOTE ON 11 vs 12: The point of this video is to compare the options available for replicas of the DESIGN used by the 11th Doctor. Since I only found it fair to use the latest iteration of each sonic, yes, the CO and the Wand Company were marketed as being the 12th Doctor's... But the design is the same as used by the 11th Doctor. So, please... stop telling me that these are the 12th Doctor sonics. I bloody-well know, as it was written on the box. 4 years this video has been up, and 75% of the comments are pointing this out. It's pedantic nonsense that misses the point of the video completely. Furthermore: Please don't bother telling me that the Wand Company and/or the CO are not replicas. I know this also, and say so in the video. But this is a no-win situation for me, as NOT including them would have resulted in at least as many complaints at their exclusion. Lastly: Many of you have pointed out that the power core is seen in Into the Dalek. However, it is NOT. The Doctor is seen fiddling with the end of the sonic and makes a throwing gesture. What he throws is never seen, nor is his sonic ever seen missing its pommel. Even if the core had been seen, it would not have been built into the prop, but made as a separate prop and "cheated" -- So I stand by that judgement. Even if it WERE part of the prop and were seen, the CO would still have lost that point as it was still the least accurate pommel.
Jacob Bassett Yes. There were only 2 10 Sonics made for Tennant’s run. One was gifted to Tennant and the other... disappeared. So when he came back for the 50th, they used an MFX replica. You can see that the color is completely wrong and word is that Tennant didn’t like it, either.
Hello, me again, I commented about a year ago correcting your statement of the CO and Wand Company screwdrivers being the latest versions. I noticed that you said that 'my pedantry is pointless', and you have said a similar thing in this comment, too. It is by no means pointless, as you are knocking off points for things that the ACTUAL 11th Doctor's screwdriver did have. If you wish for people to stop these comments, don't try to defend the fact that you just couldn't get the originals, and shaming people for not being able to afford the rather expensive replicas.
Alexander Roe No, I didn’t knock off a single point that would have otherwise been granted by using a different version. Nor was I unable to find previous versions... I specifically sought out the newest versions to give them the best chance at competing. The Wand Company, for example. If I used their initial version, that didn’t even extend. You’re being pedantic about something that is literally just marketing. So, unless you have a solid example of me knocking off points that I should not have, I’m just going to be content in knowing that I did this showdown in the absolute best way it could have been done.
@@PropsmithReplicas again with the use of 'pedantic'; it appears to be your favourite word. Regardless, you did knock off points for the Character Options, as it didn't have a red button, nor an aesthetically pleasing battery compartment cover. However, the previous version, which is readily available on eBay, and even Amazon if you look hard enough, has a twist-to-remove battery compartment and a red button on the bottom. This has been brought up to you in the past, so you know full well that you made an error here. Sure, you may not want to put the time into the version that is definitely going to lose either way, but you cannot then call it the ultimate replica comparison for *the 11th Doctor*.
@@blipus8711 Yeah, the word is appropriate. Because you're focusing on a minor and insignificant detail and overlooking the actual content. And, watch the video again, mate. I specifically state that Red Button and No Red Button are BOTH screen accurate, so that I won't be counting lack of a red button against any of the replicas. Right at the top, I say that. So you're making up a flaw that isn't there. Maybe what you're thinking of is my mention of the "power core" on the CO, for which a bunch of people told me that I was wrong and it WAS seen... as mentioned IN THE COMMENT YOU ARE REPLYING TO, it was never seen. It was never built into the prop... it is something that they literally shot so that you think the Doctor is pulling something off and tossing it, but that item is literally never seen. Not on the prop, not in his hand, not flying through the air to the other guy, and not in the other guy's hand. It's all pantomime. And, additionally, I didn't even put it in last place because of that, I just mentioned that as a feature, when it would have ALREADY gone in last place. There is literally not a single ranking in which any other CO version would have done better than this one. For example, even without that batter compartment, the white handle area is still: Oversized, Missing the Milling Marks, Missing the Speckles, too white, missing the grub screw, and contains seams. All of that holds true for EVERY CO version of this sonic. Additionally, the ranking for the battery-changing would likely be same, or POSSIBLY LOWER on the original CO version, because you twist and pull and then still need a screwdriver to change the battery. You're trying to justify being upset about something as inconsequential as a label on packaging, but you have literally NO leg to stand on. By using the most current version of each, I gave them all the BEST chance at performing well that I could. And literally no amount of Cherry-picking the best CO version was ever going to bring it up in the rankings. The point spread between 4th place and 3rd place was 21 points. That means that another version of the CO would have had to ranked higher in TWENTY-ONE categories to not be in last place. I could have had every edition of the CO ever put out in this lineup, and chased the best one in each category and the ranking would be UNCHANGED. So what is your argument here? What have I done wrong, other than underestimate the Internet's ability for overlook the forest for the trees?
The removable end piece of the Character Options sonic is a battery that the Doctor took out of the sonic. It was only used in the episode "Into the Dalek" which explains why it wasn't in any of the Matt Smith props, because it was Peter Capaldi's sonic prop that had it.
If you have the money, go for the CT. If you want a good somewhat accurate sonic, go for the wand company sonic. If you are a child, go for the CO. If you are a collector and want a display piece, go for the CT.
This has to be the most professional comparison of the 4 main sonic screwdriver replicas (and toy) out there. Good job. You should Do one of the 10th doctor screwdriver.
Early versions of the CO toy had the hinge on the pommel, it was only the one called the touch control 12th doctors sonic screwdriver that had the removable “ power core “
My top 4 in terms of general aesthetic look would be Wand Company, then CT, then Rubbertoe then CO because the WC version just looks so good! It might not be as accurate as the official replicas but the shininess of it just makes it look so great.
In “Into the Dalek”, The Doctor disconnects a piece of the Sonic from the end to give to one of the soldiers, which is what the CO was replicating..... Not that I’m defending that piece of shit, I’m just stating
As much as I would love to have the CT, there's no way I'm going to afford it within the next five years at least. I already have the earlier toy model I got from Think Geek, of which I gutted the spring system out so I actually have to flick it, and redecorated it to be a gold and black pattern instead of the copper and silver. Having done some research and watching all your reviews of the Matt Smith sonic replicas, the is no doubt I'll be saving up for the Wand Company's sonic. It's cool, it functions, it has everything I could ever want in a sonic. Cosplay, or otherwise. Thank you for these videos to give us some insight on the different replicas.
Being an owner of a CT , I can attest to this winning the competition ... at the time ! Remember this was 2016, a very different time for CT and Rubbertoe replicas. The quality control of CT has gone down the drain. Knurled silver sections are off on one unit I've see , emmiters being tapped badly and the sonic being too tight in some parts . Yes this sonic is very accurate to the series 5 but I think nick has nailed his series 5 sonic from what I have seen . Emmiters are gorgeous , cores are beautiful and now more durable, the sonic being screwthreaded also helps! From what I know CT has lost all passion for the show , resulting in bad Sonics, if your gonna buy a sonic buy from Rubbertoe but DO NOT toss it around like Matt Smith, Nick does not do free repairs on the Sonics for "non accidental damage " . In the end both are fantastic , be grateful we have both Nick and CT.
ALL OF THIS IS TRUE. I'm actually planning on getting one of Nick's new batch (eventually -- wait times are a year out and I can't even consider that purchase til after Covid) and doing an updated matchup... not against a new CT, but against the one in this video. Winner will get to stay in my home, loser will be sold off.
@@PropsmithReplicas From what I've seen in a head to head matchup , they're both equally as good . Although the CT had inferior cores , you were in the past able to get them nodded by Collingwood replicas to look closer to the Rubbertoe , which with my sonic is the case. Fact is which I dont think you made clear in the video (although the core was chipped on the RR ) I do not think you emphasized enough the fact that CT has almost no swirl on the cores where as RR almost always nails the cores and the emmiter :) . I myself have never seen swirl on the CT , although there is a huge trend with the CT to have pearlescent effect . None the less an updated video on these Sonics is due . I look forward to it!
GuiltyAssassin Unfortunately, for the Character Options, it is not. The 11th CO screwdriver came with a red button and a battery compartment hidden away inside the device, so that a twist of the neck and a pull would reveal it for replacement batteries. The screwdriver being reviewed is NOT the 11th screwdriver as the title states, but the 12th CO screwdriver, which doesn’t have the red button, but a ‘screwdriver core’ and an ugly external battery compartment.
Then again they are still based upon the same prop. There were no new 11th dr sonic props produced when Capaldi took up the role. They reused the same props from season 6 and 7 after they 20 were made. Character and The Wand company may brand it as Twelves but the prop was still intended for the use of Smith as there were unable to produce a new design at the time.
Seriously, I wish they would remove the spring. I get that they want to sell it by putting "Spring loaded extending action!" on it, but kids want to flick it open just like the Doctor. They need to remove the extending button and the spring and bring back the real button on the bottom of the grip and improve the overall design of the sonic.
I'm not sure if you even still look at comments on this video. But since the touch control is technically from the Peter Capaldi era. We could say that removable core could be from the episode Into The Dalek. Because the Doctor removes a core from his sonic.
Yeah, that's a thing that happened in the story, but not to the actual prop. If you watch the scene, it's all pantomime. You never see the core because no core was ever created for the prop. In a replica comparison, I have to take off points. It's worth noting that if I were reviewing it as a toy, that and the touch control would have both earned it extra points! But toy reviews aren't what I do.
@@PropsmithReplicas I don't even have the CO one myself. I actually have the Wand Company Sonic. But I really want a CT Sonic. But I never got the chance.
33:58 Chill out man. People would probably get it because they cant afford the props, everyone loves accurate props so dont be so toxic and you will get somewhere in life.
Agreed I would say the majority of fans of the show would never be able to afford any of the high quality replicas and the way he said it was kind of offensive is well he was basically saying if you buy the official merchandise from the BBC you are cheapskate and don't care about the show
@@Papai_Pai He is not saying that at all! The rubbertoe replicas IS official merchandise. He is only saying for quality and actual material wise CT is the best . Its fine if you buy a CO toy , that's your price range and that's fine . I never thought that I would get a CT sonic so just keep an open mind
the removable pommel was from a 12th doctor episode where it was used for ... something, the 11th doctor sonic didn't have that but instead a latch with a working red button
Really weird how the Wand Company Sonic seemingly disappeared from the internet for good. I bought one around the time this video came out but it broke after quite a few months of flicking it around. I then got the CT Sonic as a replacement but I'm honestly too scared to really play around with it like Matt did, even if it's really sturdy. Now, three years later, I thought about buying myself a new Wand Company Sonic to play around with every now and then and... nothing? I couldn't find anything on ebay, Amazon, thinkgeek etc. Literally nothing anywhere on the internet. The only place I found one copy of it was on the Indian Amazon, for a price of around $350 without shipping or customs. It's really odd that there are no offers for one anywhere, ususally you'd at least find stuff like this used on ebay...
Probably because they straight up stopped making them? I believe that’s the case. I’m fortunate enough to own both version 1 & 2 of 11’s universal remote sonic and version 2 has been an absolute pleasure to have. Sadly it extends insanely easily, but still incredible. I’m currently waiting on my CT to arrive.
Unfortunately, for the Character Options, the judging was not accurate.
The review was of the currently-available versions of this design of sonic screwdriver. I saw no point in reviewing a 4 year old toy that people couldn't readily get just because the box on the new one was labeled differently. Furthermore, even if you were to DOUBLE the score of the CO, it still comes in dead last. So your pedantry is pointless.
@@PropsmithReplicas mate I'm sorry but the majority of critisisms you gave any of these props were so petty, and yet you have made a mistake or innacuracy far greater than that of any of these replicas, because you used a 12th dr character options toy which is far different from the 11th dr version. Might I add that your wand company sonic screwdriver is ALSO not an 11th dr screwdriver but infact a 12th, as the wand company's 11th dr screwdriver is not able to extend at all, whereas their 12th can, which is the one that you bought, if you wanted a truly accurate review then you should have bought all 4 sonic screwdrivers that actually were officially 11th dr replicas. I find it incredibly hypocritical that you critisize Alexander Roe for his "pedantry" as in this review you have critisism for such minor and insignificant details of the props. So in reality "the Propsmith" I think that YOUR pedantry is pointless.
@@PropsmithReplicas Resorting to cheap insults, I like that, shows me what kind of a man you are. If you can't think of a good argument to retort then don't bother responding at all because all it shows me is that you know that I'm right, and that you're a coward.
@The Propsmith Well I never have been a subscriber so there's no loss there, the fact that you can't make a decent argument without being upset and using cheap insults shows your weakness, I don't care that you're tired of making the same argument for 3 years, I haven't been here for 3 years unlike you and to be quite honest it's a bit pathetic that you're still replying to these comments after such a long time when you clearly don't like them. Might I add that I was barely aggressive at all in my original comment, and infact the only reason as to why I replied was to point out the hypocrisy and rudeness of how you replied to Alexander Roe, just because you have a lot of "worthless morons" making stupid comments, doesn't mean that I am one of them, and I don't beleive it is fair to treat me or Alexander Roe as such. I'd also like to point out that while impressive, your use of british insults comes off a little strange being that you are American/Canadian (not exactly sure which one), not a complaint just an observation. Also thank you for your concern about my health however I do not "mouth breathe" despite your assumption, I think anybody with a bit of common sense can figure out that mouth breathing causes missaligned teeth and a recessed jaw, so that's not a habit that I have. Last thing I have to say here is that I did actually enjoy watching your review despite my critism, I am completely aware that it made more sense to review the sonic screwdriver versions which are most up to date however my comment of course was more of a response to the way that you replied to Alexander Roe, such cockiness and rudeness is something that I don't at all appreciate, if you'd kindly stop using vulgar language I think you'd actually be able to put up a pretty good argument however your emotions have gotten the better of you, so in future if you wan't to be on top of an argument then your best bet is to keep your cool and try a more logical approach.
1: Does being from the Capaldi era make it any less the same sonic that 11 used? 2: Did you SEE the power core? 3) Even if I were to acquiesce on those points, do you think the CO is going to fare any better against the competition, or are you just being a pedantic nitpicker?
The Propsmith The Propsmith Even though we don’t see the actual power core CO referenced it a bit, I thought it was a pretty good touch. Even though I know it’s just the lump of plastic, I thought they did below decent. But regardless you did a good job on the showdown, I actually ordered a TWD because of this video and it’s on the way. I just didn’t have the money for the CT, even though I really wanted it.
Are you making the argument that this is not the same model used by the 11th doctor? Are you making the argument that the label on the box somehow invalidates the comparison of 4 replicas based on the same design of sonic? I made a 36 minute review, which took hours and hours of work, by the way... It is the only review of its kind on UA-cam, it provides in-depth comparison from someone with more knowledge of the original props that most people... and you're going to criticize it because the BBC marketing department wanted the label changed on the box to reflect the most recent Doctor? This is why I don't post more often.
Bartholomew Hammington Rip Right, but not available to buy new at the time of the review. The point was to review products that people could purchase with trawling eBay. Not to mention that the newest iteration of a product should probably be the best version. For example, while everyone is VERY quick to point out that the CO was marketed as the 12 Doctor, everyone seems to miss that SO WAS THE TWC. Because, if I had used the older, 11th-branded TWC, it didn’t extend at all. That would have been a big downside. So I went with the most recent version. Because, if you see someone in a tweed coat and a fez brandishing any of these Sonics on a con floor, you’re not going to tell them they’re using the wrong sonic, are you?
The Propsmith firstly calm down as he is just making an innocent point about a little thing. He wasn’t having a go and btw some of your facts are actually wrong. We appreciate the video but you left the comment section on so he was giving you feedback about your review and he was just giving your a little bit of information for something u didn’t get right! No big deal. A simple thank you or a nice explanation would be more mature rather that a childish rant from you!
Well, not five months ago, things happend, the Sonic is really expensive, but, but! next Month, as well the Pocket Watch UE. The latter is already on it's way. I'm a bit impatient. So, about three weeks! I'm very excited.
The QMX would get a complete 40 points in accuracy, and is the best one for prop replica collectors. However, what makes these masterpieces utterly and completely inconsiderable, is that there are only 25 in the world, they were crazy expensive when bought new, and to top it all off, nobody will ever give up these virtually perfect replicas until you pry them from their cold, dead hands. Therefore, the CT still wins.
So, that was made by Robatto, just like the Rubbertoe. But it does seem as if he took more care with it due to the lower production run. So, it would do better than the Rubbertoe... however, I think it would do less-well than the CT in this matchup. For accuracy, they seem to have used the more geometric inner collar as seen on the Rubbertoe and the flecks appear to be missing from the white handle section. It also lacks sound and, from videos I have seen, the claws appear to be VERY wibbly-wobbly. Ever more than the Rubbertoe. Oh, also, those that purchased it were also sent a video advising against flicking too often, with the warning that it could most definitely break. It's hard to say without one in-hand, but if this were a 5-way matchup, I think the QMx would come in a close second to the CT.
The Propsmith Agreed. Although the QMX is the most accurate, the other categories are what marks it down. Also, I think the lack of flecks in the white handle section of the QMX can be attributed to lack of the owners frequently handling the replica. I would imagine, in theory, if handled enough, it would certainly yellow and acquire flecks. Frankly I don’t blame the replica owners for not frequently handling them. I wouldn’t doubt for a second that in all true Whovians’ eyes (especially fans of 11 such as myself) that the QMX is almost, if not as priceless as the screen-used props. However, since the CT has the absolute best build quality out of all of them, and that it’s nowhere near as flabbergastingly expensive as the QMX, it wins at being the best for Prop Replica Collectors. Also, I’m willing to admit that you know far more about this than I will ever have the patience to. I acknowledge our respective positions in the Dunning-Kruger Effect, and have accepted that your opinion is far more credible than mine. Frankly, I’m just satisfied that you replied to my comment. Thank you.
Maybe the CO Sonics 'power core' was accurate, even though we didn't see through Smith's era, doesn't mean it's not present in the show, I recently watched Into the Dalek and did see the Doctor pull out the power core so evidently it must've been existent on Smith's sonic, to back this up as well, Capaldi never made tweaks to the sonic. Say what you want but personally I think it's accurate.
I quite like this review! It shows me which Sonic replica I should buy in the future :) Currently, I've just got a lot of the CO toys, but I make them better by painting them accurate, and soon to be modifying them to the flickabilty of the RT/CT/WC. Again, love this review. Keep it up! :)
I have 2 CO toys, but I've collected old ones from friends. But believe me, I plan to buy the WC Sonic very soon. Birthday is coming up so I'll have the money :)
4:00 It's probably only on mine but 1 of the claws doesn't open fully and one is too open. Probably just a production error but when flicking open is seeable.
+The Propsmith the red button was used in doctor who it was in the time of angels and I believe the power core from the character options sonic was in into the dalek
Zekeram12 Eh, I think CT would win to be honest, if we’re talking about the ultimate edition then that one is the most accurate if you’ve seen HQ photos of the actual prop.
A very and comprehensive review. I was surprised at rubbertoe's poor showing, but I agree with all your assessments. The celestial toystore does remarkable work. I own their Dr.Who pocketwatch and it is a faithful and detailed prop.
Oh yeah,Just to let you know CO made a 11th screw driver that at the end had the red button,Slight detail but the one is this video is the 12th from season 8 and 9 but at the end it is made for kids
Codemaster I meant to mention in the video that I was using the most recent version available of each sonic, as it would be unfair to compare something that people would need to troll through eBay to find. Also, one would expect a product to get better with revisions (such as TWC gaining flickability, where its original release had none). Additionally, I did count both the red button version and the static version as equally accurate. The reality is that there was no version of the CO that wasn’t going to come in dead last place by a giant margin. Yes, it’s a toy, so probably didn’t even belong in the matchup, but this is UA-cam... I’d be answering a million idiotic comments for not including it if I had left it out. As it is, most of the comments are people being pedantic about it being labeled for the 12th doctor on the packaging, as if that has any bearing on this being a replica of Matt Smith’s Sonic, and people defending the CO. I suspect these of all being people who can only afford the CO and thus want to feel better about the only sonic they can afford. I have no sympathy, however. It’s a piece of shit, even for a toy, and the Wand Company is incredibly awesome without being out of the price range of anyone who really wants it, regardless of their financial situation.
The Propsmith You know what? Your comment was extremely insensitive. Not only are making fun of a ‘cheap piece of shit’ that stands at a very affordable price for anyone, but also the people who buy them. You have stated in different words, that if you own the CO version, you are poor. That is not the case, as people may not want to waste money on a prop that will collect dust or be taken to a cosplay convention once and never touched again. Do be more aware that people have feelings.
@@PropsmithReplicas imagine essentially bullying people for not being able to afford prop replicas that cost upwards of 250$. not to mention that most of these comments seem to be from kids who just want to see the cool props and give feedback about something they thought was wrong in the video. adressing the discrepansies in a pinned comment or description edit would do alot better than screaming at kids in youtube comments since they are just kids after all.
nick wooden I think you have a real loose definition of “Bullying” - and I’m not digging into the profiles of every commenter to see how old they are. I’m just saying that this is a channel about props, not toys. I only care about quality, not making someone feel better about buying a cheap thing.
You people really to cut this guy some slack here, a reason for the CO being there could be because Character Options make the sonics so when kids play with them and feel like the doctor so in that respect it is a replica and same goes for TWC one it’s just slightly more snazzy so all of you should just chill with all these complaints
Would you recommend buying the "12th" (updated 11th) doctor wand company Sonic or the 10th doctor wand company Sonic? I love both prop types and they are only 20 dollars apart in price so I'm having trouble deciding.
That's really a matter of preference. To me, they're both the same level of accuracy. But, while I didn't like it at first, the 11 sonic has really grown on me and it's just so much fun to play with because of the flicking action.
actually the hinge was used when river asked can u sonic me and he did and amy was like ooh u soniced her he held the screwdriver with both hands in back hand and preesed the button at the end
21:04 the removable endcap is actually acurate to at least 1 porp as seen in the episode, "Into the Dalek" where Capaldi is seen removing the endcap in one small scene.
Incorrect. Go watch it again. You never see anything. Ever. At any point. It’s all mimed and implied. There is nothing there. They wouldn’t change a hero prop to accommodate one quick gag, and they never even bothered to make an item to pretend was part of the sonic because, again: watch it. It’s 100% implied.
@@PropsmithReplicas please...no need for hostility. I wish I could watch the actual episode, but i have no means of doing so at the moment. But, I'll link a video from another Doctor Eho reviewer; VoteSaxon07, who did do a review of the Touch Control screwdriver, and when he started talking about the power core (at 3 minutes, 24 seconds, he plays a clip from Into the Dalek where 12 is divonnecting the core and throwing it to Ross, the male soldier helping them within the Dalek. I may be wrong that ot wasn't on an actual prop, but it is still accurate to 12's sonic screwdriver. I am sorry about arguing, but O felt this detail must be broight into the spotlight. Love the video, hope to see more. ua-cam.com/video/xxXo4GRUFxA/v-deo.html
@@ShadowCastor175 I wasn't being hostile, just concise. Sorry if it came across hostile. But if you'll go watch that clip on Saxon's video, you'll see that you never see anything there. You see the Doctor swing his arm, and you see the other guy look down at his hand (which is not in the shot). This is what I mean by implied. I've gotten this comment a LOT, so I went through that entire sequence frame-by-frame, and you never, ever see ANYTHING, I assure you. It's cool of CO to take this minor story point and create something that looks like it COULD have been there, but no such thing ever existed on the prop, nor was seen on screen, so it isn't accurate. I will cede that its EXISTENCE is accurate to the story, but that is all.
@@PropsmithReplicas Its alright. Thank you for clarifying, and I do apologise for arguing...Thank you for your time and for watching the actual clip. Ill be seeing you in your future vids.
@@PropsmithReplicas mate your hostile toward anyone with a different opinion to you, you also judge people who cant afford what you can. You are a huge snob mate.
the character options one is still nice for someone who can't drop a ton of cash on a replica. also the removable battery thing was a reference to the Capaldi episode Into the Dalek, where he at one point appears to remove a power cell from the base of the screwdriver. sure the cell may be inaccurate but it is a callback to that scene which I think is very nice and hidden.
The TWC is a fantastic option for people who can't drop a ton of cash. The CO is a good option for people who eat Ramen for dinner more than 3 times a week.
Fantastic Comparison! I decided to go for the Wand Company, however I repainted the silver sections into a brighter metallic silver, like on the prop itself, as I thought the metal used on twc Sonic looks a little dull. I also plan on adding the grub screws and replacing the rubber section with real leather, in order to get it to look more like the prop.
there are other co 11 sonics where the battery compartment isn't visible you have to take off the part that extends off by twisting it and pulling it out where there will be two screws that can be unscrewed to reveal the batteries
Yes. Discontinued ones. Not much point in reviewing something people can't go buy, now is there? Also, the only place that counted against it, it was going to come in last place anyway, so that had zero effect on the score.
@@PropsmithReplicas They can't be discontinued, just last year I bought the 12th and the twist and pull is existent on it, but I've seen other comments of yours and they look harsh.
10 used a sonic SIMILAR to 9, but which is very different when you get into the details. Also, 10 had a new IN-STORY sonic, that he got in Smith and Jones. That didn't happen with Smith/Capaldi, he just kept on using the same sonic he had before regenerating (much like 10 did for season 2, until the X-Rax machine killed it).
What about the Scene in " A Christmas Carol" In which the Sonic was bit in half? Anyway, I'm hyped, since I can order my CT Sonic in the beginning of May.
I meant the handoff from 11-12. We can reasonably say that he replaced the sonic after the shark bite, but did not do so again before regenerating, and 12 goes on using that sonic until it ends up with Davos and gets replaced by stupid sunglasses. Ug. Now you've reminded me of that. I hope you're happy.
True, the - Ughh - Glasses infuriatingly stupid and shitty. Sorry for remining you. But the new Sonic is... weird. It's so absurdly huge it's handle, there 4 random struts just look uncomfortable and idiotic. 11th was my favorite sonic and Doctor.
FNAFFAN1234 I think he might have sold his CT ultimate edition sonic. Even if he didn't, there would only be 3 to compare -Celestial Toystore Ultimate Edition -Wand Company Universal Remote -Character Options Toy
Ugh. Not even. The Rubbertoe is made by the prop fabricator for the show. The MFX was made by the creature efx team for the show. It was wrong not only dimensionally, but it was even the wrong color! As poorly as the Rubbertoe did in this matchup, I'd take it over an MFX any goddamn day.
Also you CAN access the LED but it does take a lot. Watch VS07 Reviews' Modification Madness 3 video to find out. and the power core thing at the bottom of the C.O sonic is accurate cos i think the doctor did it in Into the Dalek.
yeah. well position vertically didn't even cross my mind so I guess you're excused haha :P I got the rubbertoe and it seems I have had a fairly better experience with it rather than others. It is more random of what you will get with the RR however since Nick does everything himself while CT have a few more hands helping him.
I'm willing to bet Nick outsources parts of the process. If I recall correctly, his sister stitches the handles. I could be wrong, as that's definitely hearsay.
The reason for this was to allow the red emmiter to light up , placing a green led in the sonic is more accurate yes but would have omitted the functionality of the red emmiter :)
great review can't agree more with every think said as its all true and very honest. I agree with someone else who said about sanholo80 11th sonic but at the same time these are the most well known Sonics and get why is not added as then others will say what about this person's and this person's replica. but over all great work and that 's for another great and truthful review.
The tou sonic end cap was used in a episode, it was used in the episode when they're in the Darlek and he tells the soilder to eat something, this slightly unapposing to the final results.
I think I may have a problem. as I watching this same video all the time it's just this sonic is my second favourite - joint favourite and to see a comparison like this is amazing. I recently picked up my wand company remote and was surprised by the weight of it its got a nice heavy feels. what one is the heavy out of the C.T sonic, nick's and the want company. and what's it like to hold the C.T is it really as amazing as every one says as I'd like to one day pick it up.
He's acquiring the sonics to do so, said in a reply to someone else. A lot of the Tennant replicas have gone away since recent years, the last sonic to go out was probably C T and Sanholo80 (can't confirm that though)
alright, should I get a prop or replica? budget for Christmas is 300 pounds, so i can get a wand company, which I am at this moment, but should I get a CT or RT? I am 11 and my parents are really fussy and think props are stupid. but i got them into getting me a 10th sonic when they were gone, and now a 12th sonic universal remote.
You should get the Wand Company. No offense, but spending more than $1000 on a prop replica for an 11 year old is insane. The Wand Company is very nice and can actually be used to control stuff like a real sonic. You'll have more fun with it and your parents are more likely to let you ever touch it.
The pictures on the site are still showing the screwdriver in the prototype stages. There were a few changes made before it got to the production version.
+The Propsmith hi sorry I'm Eli Nathan just using old account, I would get the CT but with tax and currency exchange it would cost $3,000 so I was thinking the wand company would be a better option for cosplay, do you agree?
I assume you mean the accuracy of the CT with the functionality of TWC? That would be awesome. I just don't know if it's physically possible. There really isn't any room inside the CT for a whole electronics board.
Everything is weighted evenly because different things matter more to different people. To arbitrarily assign greater weight to one category or attribute takes away the objectivity and makes it a subjective review. While some aspects are, by definition, subjective, I tried to keep the overall review as objective as possible.
+Litebikeman 97 First: which is the "definitive version" is really a matter of opinion. I went with the most recent version from every manufacturer to ensure that the "latest and greatest" was being represented for every replica. Second: The touch activation was literally the only thing I found even remotely interesting or worthwhile about the CO. Third: There's no such thing as a CO that was going to end up being anything but a joke in this lineup.
Sure. I just need a Wand Company, an MFX and whatever an AZ is... Do you mean the Aztek? Because that would be the 9th Doctor Sonic and the only one of those available commercially is the CT. ...And I will definitely be getting one of those. Seriously, though, I would do the showdown, but I'm definitely not going to buy an MFx... Ever. I may see if I can get one on loan, though.
the toy versions end was accurate in a episode of Doctor who with Peter capaldi when they go into the dalek he removes it and says it's a poor core or somthing
What I think would've topped it out or made it 100% "Ultimate" was if you reviewed the SanHolo 11th Sonic replica. Goes for about $800 and I thought it would make the list or something. You know
Vito Jurado Also: he's not offering those commercially. I can't go around reviewing every joker who does sonic commissions. I don't know if you noticed, but the review's already 36 minutes long.
Hello, me again,
I commented about a year ago correcting your statement of the CO and Wand Company screwdrivers being the latest versions.
This is the only review with all 4 of the sonics AND included 'flickability' as a factor, love it
Here the Wand Company rules the day with the _loudest sound. four points_
zhubwat ?
Joke Explainer 4.0
The joke here is that the sonic was so loud that it overpowered his voice, as implied by the italics.
Haha 😂 it was extremely loud
The removable end piece of the Character Options sonic is a battery that the Doctor took out of the sonic. It was only used in the episode "Into the Dalek" which explains why it wasn't in any of the Matt Smith props, because it was Peter Capaldi's sonic prop that had it.
Yes, but he unscrewed the ENTIRE pommel.
And it was already like that anyway...so yeah
the power core was represented in season 8 the episode into the dalek...
Could you do a video like this for any 10th sonics you have
I would argue that the Wand Company sonic is the brightest, in closed mode, as it emits a flashlight like field around it when on
My top 4 in terms of general aesthetic look would be Wand Company, then CT, then Rubbertoe then CO because the WC version just looks so good!
To be fair with the CO sonic, the battery compartment is only for that specific one
I'm a Human agreed, the 12th sonic one button is better, plus the touch one is nor like what the show sonic SHOULD be as it is meant to be psychic
The Wand Company and Character options are 12th doctor’s sonics
Same thing
I think the Easter Eggs on the WC Sonic make it even cooler - in FX mode, tap the activation button 7 times, and 8 times, for secret sounds.
Already know that and i did cover that a few years ago 🙂
With the Rubbertoe, changing the batteries does NOT expose the inner workings as the white handle is secured on and won't slide off.
Damn son
I’m thinking that you’ve got a grudge against character options. CO has the best flick
CO does not have the best flicks lmao

Chill out man. People would probably get it because they cant afford the props, everyone loves accurate props so dont be so toxic and you will get somewhere in life.
He's not being toxic , He's just bring straight up about the pricing .
I know, what he said really offended me, because I can't afford anything fancy, he doesn't seem to give a fuck about his fans and it makes me sick.
@@SpeedstersUnited Yeah, he kind of came off as a dick tbh. But I'm guessing he's just joking.
Such an impressive review! Awesome work! Really make you appreciate the craftsmanship of each sonic.
Awesome work on this vid. Completely fair & I appreciate the extreme attention to detail. 4 points to you. :)
GUYS STOP CORRECTING THIS GUY ABOUT STUFF HE ALREADY FRICKING KNOWS
This is a great review because of you I am working for the ct now thanks
Theo Clement You’re what’s wrong with youtube. Please fuck right off.
Please make one for the 10th doctor screwdriver
Your CO Sonic is from Peter Capaldi’s era, and that removable Powercore was in the show, in the episode Into The Dalek. So yes, it is accurate.
0:55 i want the middle right one
Do you have a TV?
@@fuyuki_alt of course lol
Then again with the CO version, it’s meant as a toy not a model
Hey man the screwdriver that represents for CO is the 12th first sonic screwdriver and he did open the power core in the episode:”inside a Daley”
I said that because there’s 12th doctor’s single button sonic screwdriver so they do have the button one
I know but I just saying, sorry and thank you
The Propsmith firstly calm down as he is just making an innocent point about a little thing.
The CT Sonic is a goddamn beauty. I'm happy that my current planning allows me to get on of my own in two to three months :)
It's been three months; how's the plan coming along?
Well, not five months ago, things happend, the Sonic is really expensive, but, but! next Month, as well the Pocket Watch UE. The latter is already on it's way. I'm a bit impatient. So, about three weeks! I'm very excited.
Hey have you got it yet
I think the toy that you used was unfair because that is one of the few sonic toys that has a visible battery pack.
I have the universal remote and whenever I flick it then it feels like it’s gonna fly off. But I am trying to save up for a CT sonic 🤞🏻
I got the same 👍
The QMX would get a complete 40 points in accuracy, and is the best one for prop replica collectors.
Say what you want but personally I think it's accurate.
you deserve a sub for this. this probably took you some time
I quite like this review! It shows me which Sonic replica I should buy in the future :) Currently, I've just got a lot of the CO toys, but I make them better by painting them accurate, and soon to be modifying them to the flickabilty of the RT/CT/WC. Again, love this review. Keep it up! :)
A lot of the CO toys? Just remember, for the price of 3 COs, you can have a Wand Company, which is roughly 50 times better.
I have 2 CO toys, but I've collected old ones from friends. But believe me, I plan to buy the WC Sonic very soon. Birthday is coming up so I'll have the money :)
Great Review! A very enjoyable and unique video!
Also, will you do a showdown between the tenth doctor sonics?
imma just grab myself a wand company thang
for me the best is The Wand Company one
Y?
Because its his opinion dude
ejyxx did I fucking ask u
@@wanbawmcgraw shh salty ;D
4:00 It's probably only on mine but 1 of the claws doesn't open fully and one is too open. Probably just a production error but when flicking open is seeable.
This video definetly earned the title "ultimate." Fantastic job, man.
I totally agree. I enjoyed this more than Saxon's review. Much more lengthy
+Vito Jurado Well, thanks. But Saxon is THE MAN. Any professionalism in this video is literally just because I was trying to be half as good as him.
Well, you certainly went above and beyond. Saxon squeezed everything into 15 minutes. Really wished it was longer.
+Vito Jurado Saxon's video is amazing. It's a different type of review and shouldn't be longer than 15 minutes.
+The Propsmith the red button was used in doctor who it was in the time of angels and I believe the power core from the character options sonic was in into the dalek
You should do this for the 10th doctors screwdriver
Elias Stubbs Wand Company would win, no question.
Zekeram12 Eh, I think CT would win to be honest, if we’re talking about the ultimate edition then that one is the most accurate if you’ve seen HQ photos of the actual prop.
Why is the CO toy here? It’s a toy, NOT a replica
Because UA-cam is full of Assholes who would ask me why it WASN'T included if I had done the review without it.
I think it's to give something to compare the actual replicas to, so to give an idea of quality.
Or maybe he just wanted to review 4 instead of 3.
It could be because it is the most affordable and a good comparison to how amazing the other three are?
Wait, so the flicking thing was only a thing because Matt Smith made it a thing?
Yup! It was never intended to be used that way, nor ever considered in the design. But it was pretty much his first instinct when he was handed it.
The Propsmith That is just hilarious and quintessentially Matt Smith and makes it about eleven times cooler.
Daniel Petersen I see what you did there.
A very and comprehensive review. I was surprised at rubbertoe's poor showing, but I agree with all your assessments. The celestial toystore does remarkable work. I own their Dr.Who pocketwatch and it is a faithful and detailed prop.
Well here I am, watching this video for the tenth time while waiting for May... And my CT...
i like the wand company sonic
+C T your sonic is amazing if only.
great review man perfect comparison.
+ryan lee Thanks!
I feel like the CT is the best one but that’s just my opinion. Can you put a link so I can go buy it please?
celestialtoystore.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=16
you can buy it from here
The green power core from the CO sonic is based off of the episode Into the Dalek where the doctor removes something from the base of the handle
Exhaustive and highly detailed the way a comparison vid should be. Well done sir! (Any chance of a 10th Doctor Sonic Sound Off??) :-)
Oh yeah,Just to let you know CO made a 11th screw driver that at the end had the red button,Slight detail but the one is this video is the 12th from season 8 and 9 but at the end it is made for kids
@@PropsmithReplicas Are you fucking kidding me? Are you actually poor shaming people including me? Go fuck yourself.
I looked all over UA-cam Creed I have not seen anything if u could provide a tutorial video I'd really really appreciate
Ash's Kingdom what episode was that in?
+MAX-I-MAN weeping angels so time of angels and flesh and stone
You know, I really don't see the point in getting a Rubbertoe. It's completely overhyped. The CT is definitely better by far.
Nevermind, the Rubbertoe 2nd Edition is way better than the new CT sonics, especially the fact that it comes with sound as standard.
Damn, CT is like a prop maker Gladiator.
ataully the doctor has used the sonic with the claws slightly open and sometimes half extended
Ash's Kingdom Yeah but it's not exactly 'canon', I think we can all agree he would've prepared for it to have opened as it was made to
Maxeeyy
In let's kill hitler When Amy was using the sonic the claws were slightly open
And sometimes he doesn't open it fully it happens so it is canon
Excellent and fairly technical review!
+lpotr4 Thanks!
And now CT has dropped the price significantly
Can you drop a link in this comment and tell me how much American money it is
Really ?
the character options one is still nice for someone who can't drop a ton of cash on a replica. also the removable battery thing was a reference to the Capaldi episode Into the Dalek, where he at one point appears to remove a power cell from the base of the screwdriver. sure the cell may be inaccurate but it is a callback to that scene which I think is very nice and hidden.
Well, post a video! Or at least some pics! I'd love to see it.
+The Propsmith hi I love your sonic screwdriver vids
there are other co 11 sonics where the battery compartment isn't visible you have to take off the part that extends off by twisting it and pulling it out where there will be two screws that can be unscrewed to reveal the batteries
Yes. Discontinued ones. Not much point in reviewing something people can't go buy, now is there? Also, the only place that counted against it, it was going to come in last place anyway, so that had zero effect on the score.
@@PropsmithReplicas They can't be discontinued, just last year I bought the 12th and the twist and pull is existent on it, but I've seen other comments of yours and they look harsh.
remeber that argument we had about the 11/12 sonic now it kind of reminds me of 9/10 sonic because 10 used some sonic as 10 and 12 used 11 sonic
Bitmarck surprisingly comfy... if you hold the prop itself!
Flickability. That damn georgeus category. ...AND I HAVE A 11TH DOCTOR'S SONIC WHAT DOESN'T FLICK! WHY??!!!
Anselm The Weird0, BECAUSE IT SUCKS BIG DAMN COCKS
Do you have the one's made by the BBC? Those are buttoned
Anselm The Weird0 Yeah, you'll need the twelfth's remote for that
Maxeeyy I'm a poor guy... Not enough money to get the New one... ):
Can you do the same thing with David tennets
Yes please
FNAFFAN1234 I think he might have sold his CT ultimate edition sonic. Even if he didn't, there would only be 3 to compare
-Celestial Toystore Ultimate Edition
-Wand Company Universal Remote
-Character Options Toy
Ok maybe not many we could find a substitute I mean that tried to make a rubber toe but it was all wrong!
Think you're forgetting the MFX Replica! Which would be the Tennant equivalent of the Rubbertoe!
Ugh. Not even. The Rubbertoe is made by the prop fabricator for the show. The MFX was made by the creature efx team for the show. It was wrong not only dimensionally, but it was even the wrong color! As poorly as the Rubbertoe did in this matchup, I'd take it over an MFX any goddamn day.
The rubber toe plus the wand would be perfect
The Rubbertoe is so far from perfect that it's not even funny.
Also you CAN access the LED but it does take a lot. Watch VS07 Reviews' Modification Madness 3 video to find out. and the power core thing at the bottom of the C.O sonic is accurate cos i think the doctor did it in Into the Dalek.
Yeah, but that's quite literally breaking not unscrewing screws to get to it
My money is on the CT sonic
EDIT: I was right
nice video. I just wanted to say that there is no correct grub screw placement on the white handle. it constantly moves around during the series
There's correct placement vertically, but rotationally it does change, yes.
+The Propsmith ah that's ehat you ment. sorry haha
+Okami Kodoku no worries. I always welcome corrections, and I could have been more specific.
yeah. well position vertically didn't even cross my mind so I guess you're excused haha :P I got the rubbertoe and it seems I have had a fairly better experience with it rather than others. It is more random of what you will get with the RR however since Nick does everything himself while CT have a few more hands helping him.
I'm willing to bet Nick outsources parts of the process. If I recall correctly, his sister stitches the handles. I could be wrong, as that's definitely hearsay.
in uk, 12th doctor universal remote is £70
The Whovian Wizard I’m in the uk AND WTF IS THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY SERIOUSLY THATS RIDICULOUS
TheRainbowCatsYT forbidden planet prices
The Whovian Wizard fair enough
No offence to Capaldi, but his sonic isn't as cool as Matt's.
Anyone else think that the light on the CT sucks it looks blue and doesn’t look bright at all! Other than that it’s perfect
+The Doctor I knew that the pictures were prototypes, but he could've kept it the same, but there still a good design, I just prefer the others more
The tou sonic end cap was used in a episode, it was used in the episode when they're in the Darlek and he tells the soilder to eat something, this slightly unapposing to the final results.
I think I may have a problem. as I watching this same video all the time it's just this sonic is my second favourite - joint favourite and to see a comparison like this is amazing. I recently picked up my wand company remote and was surprised by the weight of it its got a nice heavy feels. what one is the heavy out of the C.T sonic, nick's and the want company. and what's it like to hold the C.T is it really as amazing as every one says as I'd like to one day pick it up.
are you going to do this with the tenth doctors sonic screwdriver
after owning the wand company 12th version, would you say it flicks open easier now since the mechanism is loose or getting weaker?
THanks
ELi
You should do 10th doctors sonic screwdriver comparison
He's acquiring the sonics to do so, said in a reply to someone else. A lot of the Tennant replicas have gone away since recent years, the last sonic to go out was probably C T and Sanholo80 (can't confirm that though)
The last sonics to go out was the Wand Company's. SanHolo80's doesn't count and he's a prick anyway.
alright, should I get a prop or replica? budget for Christmas is 300 pounds, so i can get a wand company, which I am at this moment, but should I get a CT or RT? I am 11 and my parents are really fussy and think props are stupid. but i got them into getting me a 10th sonic when they were gone, and now a 12th sonic universal remote.
You should get the Wand Company. No offense, but spending more than $1000 on a prop replica for an 11 year old is insane. The Wand Company is very nice and can actually be used to control stuff like a real sonic. You'll have more fun with it and your parents are more likely to let you ever touch it.
GridCodeGamer Wand Company.
why did CT change his claw design? really, the ones on the site are different if you look closely
The pictures on the site are still showing the screwdriver in the prototype stages. There were a few changes made before it got to the production version.
should i get the 10th wand company or the 12th?
thanks for the video
+Eli Nathan They're both great... just depends on which version of the sonic and/or which Doctor you prefer.
+The Propsmith hi sorry I'm Eli Nathan just using old account, I would get the CT but with tax and currency exchange it would cost $3,000 so I was thinking the wand company would be a better option for cosplay, do you agree?
I wish the CT and the Wand company would come together to make an average of the two.
I assume you mean the accuracy of the CT with the functionality of TWC? That would be awesome. I just don't know if it's physically possible. There really isn't any room inside the CT for a whole electronics board.
I thing there should be much more points for price
Everything is weighted evenly because different things matter more to different people. To arbitrarily assign greater weight to one category or attribute takes away the objectivity and makes it a subjective review. While some aspects are, by definition, subjective, I tried to keep the overall review as objective as possible.
@@PropsmithReplicas Personally, the Wand Company one is far cheaper and because of that I don't mind it not being 100% accurate.
The one button version is really the definitive CO toy and should've been used instead of the touch version
Third: There's no such thing as a CO that was going to end up being anything but a joke in this lineup.
flick in that one comment I meant sprang out which newer ones can't so I prefer the old CO 11th/12ths Sonics
Can you do another episode like this but for the 10th doctor sonic screwdrivers? WC, CT, MFX, AZ? thx
The Propsmith thanks bro! (and yes I meant aztec xD)
I'm about to get my CT sonic, but can't decide if I should make a review
+Rassilon65 Why not? Everyone else is doing it.
At the very least, do a write-up and post it on the Celestial Toystore review page.
17:02 “a molded depression” is accurate to the whole CO could’ve ended there.
Could you do one for the 10th sonics? Like rubbertoe wandcompany celestialtoystore and characteroptions?
Rubbertoe never made a 10th Sonic, MFX did.
The character options 11th and 12th Sonic its the only one you can bay today . the others cost $2000 . This is madness
The ct is a little under $700 now
the toy versions end was accurate in a episode of Doctor who with Peter capaldi when they go into the dalek he removes it and says it's a poor core or somthing
It was a power cell but that doesn't make the end accurate unless you can verify its appearance.
What I think would've topped it out or made it 100% "Ultimate" was if you reviewed the SanHolo 11th Sonic replica. Goes for about $800 and I thought it would make the list or something. You know
+Vito Jurado Well, I never heard of it. I'll look into it.
Oh really? Interesting. His channel name is SanHolo80. Great bloke himself. Great props too. And no access to screen used props. Just reference.
Looks like he's handy, though. Not bad work if he's getting reference from those two. You'd expect much worse.
Vito Jurado Also: he's not offering those commercially. I can't go around reviewing every joker who does sonic commissions. I don't know if you noticed, but the review's already 36 minutes long.
+The Propsmith Handy, no doubt but have you seen it? It just looks 'off'.
Do a 10th Doctor, Use CTs, MFX, TWC and CO
CyberPolarized yes
He's acquiring them soon, he confirmed in another reply. MFX and CO will be last probably though.
