I’m an Religious Education teacher, and one of the things that helped me develop my Knowledge of Judaism is your videos, looking at some of the interesting traditions and events in the Orthodox Jewish life. Brilliant videos, I always find them eye opening in some way or another!
Thank you for sharing Shlomie , our entire family were from Afghanistan, I was born in Kabul, both my father and grandfather were Herati , Im sure this is the Shul where they both had their Bar Mitzvahs. I was fortunate to visit Kabul in July 1977 for my cousins Bar Mitzvah , we never made it to Herat sadly. Im sharing this video with all the family. Thanks and Hashem watch over you on all your travels .
Thank you, Shloime. Such a sad and poignant sight…the place seems subdued in so many ways, but it was nice to see the boys playing ball, perhaps a measure of childhood’s joy remains.
@@ShloimeZionce please take care of yourself. Your mental health especially, can’t be easy taking in so much despair. If you ever come to Northern California I will be in the first row!
thank you so much! rare beautiful visiuals of a forgoten place where my family came from! My Father ABRAHAM was born exactly there, in Herat. watching the narrow marekt streets and the ABANDONED synagogue where he must have visited in his childhood was for me - as someone who grew up on the knees of memories and legends - a very emotional experience. pitty the tour was short. i would like to see more of Herat. dont take it personally SHloime- better to turn the camera more to the views outside rather to concentrate on you : we saw you already, nice fellow,...and we would like to see what you SEE and we cant. waiting for more! yossi, vilnius
Amazing that the synagogue and houses are still standing after a thousand or more years. I would have thought the synagogue would have been destroyed by now. The architecture and tile work is very beautiful. Thank you, Schloime, for these rarely, if ever, seen places! Too bad the man wouldn't let you film in the old Jewish cemetery though I can understand.
Thank you so much for another very interesting and touching report of a place I have not known, that it exists. I really hope and pray for peace and freedom for every single human being all over the world.💙🙏❤️
Thank you Shoilme, I learn so much more about the world through your videos. Noor is also a great person and really glad he and his family are safe. I just heard more assistance as supposed to get to the Afghan people. Thank you for sharing with us.
How does eating food while travelling work? Some of these places don’t seem like they’d have kosher food and I’m really curious how you work around that
I love these videos!!! Just saw your channel today from you giving tour to Peter in Boro Park and chaveirim last year. Your channel is so cool!! I wish I could travel the world!! Are you still in Afhghanistan?
I really love your videos, they’re super underrated! It would be interesting for you to visit maybe a country like Italy which actually has a lot of Jewish history no one really covers!
Thank you for the beautiful travel video. I am happy you had an opportunity to make this journey and visit there. Sad to think that such visits are close to impossible now. Afghanistan is in a worse situation than ever, it seems.
I remember my grandmother telling me about her visit(s) to Afghanistan. The worst thing she had to complain about was that there were a lot of hippies (tourists) there in the mountains smoking weed! I'm not sure when she was there, possibly the 60s. Such a tragedy that so many beautiful countries have been cursed by the insanity of humans. I would love to visit Afghanistan some day and have hope for better times ahead.
@@happydillpickle That's good to know. Afghanistan has been in the news for obvious other reasons for so long that I tend to forget it was once also a popular destination for Western hippies who just wanted to live a carefree life away from Western society and were known for their drug-taking. I heard that some of them wanted to go to India and decided to stay in Afghanistan. Some were also kicked out of India for their behavior.
I am a Afghan you are very wrong; after the Crusadors terrorized my country 20 years and want implement SexDrugsRockRoll above my country, the crusaders of NATO flew like coward dogs. We say no to : SexDrugsRockRoll for our society and children; and God Almighty give us the strength to have success against the crusaders❤❤ Alhamdulliah Afghanistan is very safe now to travel
You and I might disagree (with civility) on a certain issue, but today (to me) you have shown you have the biggest balls in the world. Most Muslims wouldn't even visit Afghanistan when the last regime was in power but you went when the Taliban, a group not known for warm welcome came into power
Hello Mr. Shlomi, how I loved the synagogue. It is built in the traditional Afghan style and is unique in its kind. I think that any circular indicating that the graves are for Jews has been removed. You know that the country since the eighties has been ruled by Taliban gangs, and so that the cemetery is not exposed to vandalism , any religious relic is removed..
Hey,how do you get kosher food over there? And do you think it’s safe for me to go to turkey,I have an open ticket to Istanbul and want to get a hair transplant (it’s much cheaper over there for that lol) but am afraid as a religious Jew... do you think I have anything to worry about?
They didn`t do anything to you. If some people are not agreeing with the politics in israel that doesnt mean they hate you and wants to kill jewish people or because u are looking religious. They would be more suprised instead of something else.
