LYRICS:
Surprise! Party!
Yeah, we just thought we'd drop in!
Where's your icebox?
Where's the punch?
Eww, house-a-tosis!
Who's to blame when parties really get out of hand?
Who's to blame when they get poorly planned?
Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoooo--oooooo...
Crashers get bombed, slobs make a mess
Ya know sometimes they'll even ruin your wife's dress
Crashers gettin' bombed. (Who's to blame?)
Can you pull it back in line?
Can you salvage it in time?
What can you do to save a party?
Parcheesi? Charades? A spur-of-the-moment
Scavenger hunt, or Queen of the Nile? (Wooooh!)
Who turned out the lights? (Wooooh!)
Bombed, crashers gettin' bombed
Crasher's gettin' bombed, bombed, bombed, bombed, well who's to blame?
Who's to blame when situations degenerate?
Disgusting things you'd never anticipate
Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hooo--ooooooo...
People get sick, they play the wrong games
Ya know, it can ruin your name!
Crashers gettin' bombed. (Who's to blame?)
Can you pull it back in line?
Can you salvage it in time?
Woooooh!
It shouldn't be difficult!
Try not to condemn!
O.K. who ordered pizza?
I'll be tactful when making the rounds
Be tactful when making the rounds
and maybe you can save a party....
Party gone out of bounds!
Gone out of bounds!
Party gone out of bounds!
Gone out of bounds!
This, friends, is how you open an album. Fred Schneider is a MONSTER.
So true! And those first five rapid guitar notes are insane.
No 80's party was real without the B-52's. They still Rock in 2019
I saw them at Pala Casino southern California in 2017, they still got it!
2021
I just watched video of the B-52s live taken two months ago. Kate Pierson belted out Planet Claire and Rock Lobster with perfect pitch... They don't dance about like they used to, and the delivery does not have the force of the old days... But they sounded right, Kate still has perfect pitch, and the music is good. They have backup musicians carrying the load, they are all vocals and light percussion... But they are all in their 70s!!!!
Ricky was one hell of a guitarist.
⁹⁹⁹ii⁹iiiiiiiiiii0iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii⁹iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
If you watch the videoed performance of Planet Claire filmed back in the late 70's, you see him struggle with the guitar at one point to get the funk out... He is working the damned thing hard, he spins around, and working it... It comes out perfect!!!
One of a kind band. Phenomenal!
Totally! Super original sound.
I want every album to open with Fred Schneider screaming "SURPRISE" in my ear.
we all do lol
Sam Warren just thought we’d drop in.....
I want that to be my alarm clock.
@@dankhank8569 or door bell
One of their best!!🍥🎊
"Where's your ice box?.............Where's the punch? " 🎉

I have heard lots and lots of music and have 1000s of lps and have a varying taste of music all ways back to 50s even some newer stuff and i can tell you b52s are great glad they get recognized for how different yet how good they were
Who’s to blame? The B-52’s for being such an awesome party band!!!
I love every song by the B-52's!
Las mejores canciones ! Bastante baile con esta agrupación. Me encanta. Años 80!
Sounds like the ONLY house party I ever hosted in college
I love this song. Thanks to bands as the B-52's we had a great 80's in Spain
En Argentina en los 80 se escuchaban también mucho los B 52,aún son fabulosos😎👏👏
no sé si aquí en Panamá sonaron... soy de los 2000
2017...this shit STILL FUCKING ROCKS!!!
Excelente agrupación, pura vida desde Costa Rica 🇨🇷 saludos 👍.
I think this is the best B52s album (or at least my favorite).
It is
did cindy sing, 'headed for the-back-nine..' ?
@@tinfoilhatter "Can you pull it back in line" That's Cindy alright.
Absolutely
Happy and dancing song. B52, one of the greatest band ever.
92.7 WLIR Fm 1980 Party Out of Bounds we will never forget ❤❤❤❤❤
I dance in the kitchen to this song with my 6 month old daughter and she gets this crazy look on her face as if to say “Oh no!!! The party’s out of bounds!!” and I say “you can save the party….parcheesi, scharades, or a spur of the moment scavenger hunt!!” LOL
This was a classic groove The Electrifying Mojo (Detroit Legendary DJ) would play nightly back in the 80s. Always loved this groove.
Timeless dance song! Surpriiiiiiseeeeeee!!!!!
Only Fred would ask, "Where's your ICEBOX?"....Heck, I think the last time somebody said "icebox" instead of "refrigerator" or "fridge" was on The Honeymooners...
God blessed with these jams
Exelente tema de los 80
Up until this year I've misheard the line "Crashers getting bombed" as "Trish is getting bombed" which I think is funnier than the actual line and so I will continue to mishear it! I love the B-52s, by the way! They are exactly my kind of odd. Trish is getting bombed!
Everyone makes a Big Deal out of " Love Shake " which isn't the New Wave B-52's that I know and Love.
I concur. I discovered them approx 1981. Fab album ,fab band.
S’true. This is a Talking Heads cousin. Love Shack is REM
I'm having myself a "Love Shake" right now!
@@surffuerteventura6831 bwahah mastu#bat#*g jokes much funny very great never gets old
Love Shack was special because it became an absolute monster hit for them really fast, unlike any song they had done. Radio djs went nuts for it, and people blasted it at parties that summer. It was a popular karaoke song and was totally infectious. I like Love Shack. But I am madly in love with earlier fare like Private Idaho, Party Out of Bounds, Rock Lobster.
Every album they made had some good stuff on it (including "Good Stuff", haha). Their sound may have changed some over the decades, but they were always fun and entertaining. I was a teen when I discovered the B-52s during their rise to fame, and I'm so happy I got to experience that.
So, I'm heading up to the cabin on a Friday night & the alternative radio from Minneapolis plays this and starts gushing about the great, underrarated, guitar workbook by Ricky Wilson, was great to hear.
Yes, nice to hear that. . . Sadly, the distinctly amazing guitar work of Ricky Wilson has been underrated for decades now.
I made a few guitar tabs for B-52s songs now, maybe he'll get a bit more popularity.
RIP Ricky
Surprise!!! I love this song!
@Jeff Baker where's the punch ?
New Wave is awesome!
Dancei muiiiiitooooo

I was born I the wrong era....then again I would have Overdosed ohh I mean this time I wouldn't have been saved...js
It was a great, funny, out of control dance song when it first came out
Thumbs up if you remember 92.7 WDRE/WLIR Party Out of Bounds weekly club night.
i once saved a party gone out of bounds....with this song! thank you fred kate and cindy...
Ricky Helton Wilson would have turned 69 today, born March 19, 1953. Ricky died from AIDS on October 12, 1985.
When I hear a B-52's song , the first thing that comes to mind is Ricky's guitar playing style. It was unique. He's gone but not forgotten..

Fell in love with the B52's because of John Peel. Rock lobster and Planet Clare hooked me in........
Didn't you like Give me back my man?

SURPRISE!
Yeah
Every time I listen to B52s I expect to hate it this time. Then I put it on and it makes me insanely happy I love them so much
This album is as fresh as it was when it came out 42 years ago
Not a bad track on all of "Wild Planet", which makes it prime desert island material.

Great B-52's before that Love Shack crap fest. Who's to blame when situations degenerate?
LuckyHaskins What's wrong with their Cosmic Thing and later works?
+toyoscio They lost their energetic dance music, crazy retro-60's-scifi theme and their humor. Those were the things, to me, that made them enjoyable and memorable. Love Shack and similar songs were just unmemorable crooning without any character. They stopped rocking and switched over to swinging, turning their music from a nostalgic trip to the zoo on Mars to a long boring bus ride in the country.
But they were great while they were still rocking!
+toyoscio Every song on "Cosmic thing," was a great song. Every track a great track!
Exactly. Even 'Flintstones' had a suspension of that flighty fun! Love Private Idaho, this and Whammy Kiss. This is a band I'd have loved to have been part of - nobody has the same sophomore chaos. (2 Greek words)
you peoples are psycho.
disGUSTing things you never anticipate! 🤷🏻♂️
