  • On Nov. 14, 1960, Ruby Bridges became one of the first African American children to integrate into an all-white New Orleans school, where she endured months of threats, protests, and confinement.
She shared with CBN how overcoming racism takes the heart of a child.
It was six-year-old Ruby's first day of school at William Frantz Elementary in New Orleans, Louisiana.

I love you Ruby Bridges! My older sisters were at William Frantz Elementary in 1960. That was the year I was born. My mom said my sisters could not walk to school anymore because of the hateful protestors. Tensions were so high in the neighborhood that my parents sent my sisters to my grandparents to live and go to school until they could afford to move.
How brave you were to stay!

Lots of those parents and the children that they raised are still alive. 6:58 She returned 33 later in 1993 to enroll her nieces and encountered racism akin to what she did as a child. Hopefully now 30 years later it's improved, but given the recent banning of black culture and history books in several states, I won't be holding my breath

For the love of God... It has been over for years. I do not know anyone who is racist. My children do not see race. I am so sick and tired of memory lane. May God bless us all, Amen 😇

There is a difference between not understanding culture and racism and people just being rude, I experience both especially racism towards me and
my husband and seen it first hand, cultural difference where people think I don't understand English because I'm Hispanic or my husband looking around so people look at him like he's going to rob something or at the bank, although he makes good money, or him being stop multiple times like cops are going to find something on him and some have screamed at him looking for a reaction, it also depends on city and state..

@@laurenshannon2703 It's not the lovely Christian woman I have an issue with or her story. It's the constant fact that people in this country do not have the ability to "get over things". When we find forgiveness in our hearts, we then move on. We move forward with God. We do not dredge up the pain of past hurt over and over again. When we do, we have not forgiven anyone. I'm tired of hearing it. I've heard it since I was 5. At least that's as far back as I can remember it. Did you read my entire post(s)? May God bless us all, Amen 😇

@@davidlangley2064 you might be tired of hearing it but when a wound is constantly open and reopen then people would hope others can help and influence change. You saying get over it it's easier said then done and the media puts it in the faces to cause division to those who are affected by it. But I also believe black people also need to see the difference in culture race and rudeness like when is it actually race and when is actually culture and rudeness because sometimes everything to them is racism.
