Yes the big takeaway of the show is how many singers that are underappreciated and underrated in the music industry, usually because they didn't have "the look" or just got older like we all do.
So sad that Tony Hawk didnt get a great performance here, he makes such great covers of punk songs and doesnt sound half bad in them either, they should have let him pick the song!
I think he did pick that song. I remember he mentioned that song was special to him as it is his wife's favorite song. He even said he knew he wouldn't last on the show.
They wanted him to sing Born to Be Wild because it was a song that he could really sing more but he fought to sing Friday I’m in Love because it meant more to him.
Adrienne Baillon(Flamingo in season 2) said about the show that some songs, the singers pick and others are picked for them...Maybe that was a case of the song being chosen for him or maybe it just didnt fit his singing style...cool that he did it anyway!

Nick Carter has such a distinctive voice, but one that also kinda epitomized the boyband sound in the late 90s, so it almost seems too obvious that its him. Like, the nasal whine and the uncontrolled rasp are 500% his signature but also just the affectation you would put on to jokingly emulate any generic boyband singer. I guess Justin had the same nasal quality but his pronunciation is different and he didn't do that rasp, which is reliably present in all of Nick's vocal performances post puberty.
Pretty much all the other Russian Doll performances it was obviously Hanson, specifically Taylor has such a distinctive voice. This was the only one where it was hard to pick out his voice. On TV too it sounded better, maybe the way youtube compresses or something. But yeah, after they had the mask thing off and re-sang WAY better too. The other songs, as soon as Taylor sang I was like, yep, that's Hanson

The King of Masked Singer is way more enjoyable as there’s no auto tuning on the mics, and the celebs are actually well known
As an Aussie I just want you to check out some of the masked singer Australia performances. Very fun and could be nice to see if you recognise or know any of their voices

They're in 10kg and the rest costume, under studio lights, that they might be able to see out of, which a cheek mic and a monitor. Keeping it on pitch at all is an achievement.
His ears are really hyper attuned to that I guess. The only ones I could ever distinctly hear auto-tune on were Tori Spelling and Tommy Chong lol.

Tori Kelly is a really underrated vocalist, her live performances are amazing and her runs are OUT OF THIS WORLD

If people legit want to cancel someone for misgendering based on voice when the person hasn't fully changed their voice as part of their transition, I think they are the ones with the problem not the people they want to cancel.

Tori has such an iconic run vocals that I knew it was her from her first performance. Le-Ann just has that darker tone and I also love Can't Fight The Moonlight ( among a whole heap of her other songs ), so I knew it was her real quick, too!
