In my opinion Penkyx deserves way more recognition, he was the first one to revolutionise the game with effects. Penkyx vs Grison is an interesting battle
Grison deserves aswell.
For sure ! Penkyx was the first edm artist on the loopstation. I remember when he beat him! Insane.

Couldn't enjoy more a battle partner than the bro Hobbit that day !! Keep in mind he just created his last round like barley 30 min before . This guy has amazing freestyle skills, what he did was not easy !! Respect bro !!
Yeah it's true I started training basically 3 weeks before the GBB - i basically didn't know i was competing lol that's when Pepouni reached at me that i remembered - I started training then...the RIGHT DAY after i started training my 505 broke !!!!! i was mad !!!! The music store told me they took it and could not fix it until 10 days something like that.....so i had to find a solution. It took me 4/5 days to find one...the bro Andro, who is from Paris too finally lent me his loopstation !! So yeah now i had 2 weeks to prepare, 8/9 hours a day , everyday !!! Fun Fact : his loopstation won GBB14 not mine lol Big big shoutout to Andro, you 've been a big help bro !!!!

Such a fun battle :) fun fact: I stupidly didn’t prepare enough rounds for this battle, I ended up creating my second round in the kind of backstage (next to the bar) in the break in between the semi final and final 😅 man, Faya’s first round is still so sick to this day!

I think it was my first loopstation video that I saw, then I watched all the faya braz videos and my head exploded seeing the transitions during the songs.
And thinking about it now, even though it was the first experiences, I could understand that it was beatbox too.

2014 faya braz vs kemart, its so funny the made some" beef" in battle!
2015 penkyx vs ibarra, impossible to do drop like penkyx 2nd round, it maybe the most revolution round in gbb history! And else rounds from penkyx is also good too!
2015 mando vs wawad first use no mouth to loop, interesting!
2016 ibarra vs wawad, ibarra improve so much from 2015, the first time many drops in one round!
2016 tioneb vs gon, the first time tioneb did freestyle to against gon!
2016 thorsen vs henry, thorsen did the best musician with loop skills! his other rounds also good! he smashes in gbb 2016!
2016 mb14 vs oxbox, mb14 did perfect things in first round, that fire!
2017 penkyx vs thorsen , the best loop battle ever!two different style!
their performance is like truly artist.
2017slizzer vs mb14, so close! mb14 shoots fire to slizzer!
2017 tioneb vs robin, robin did the most clean( but lose some beatbox power) things, but tioneb play the game!his control of loopstation is un thouchable even nowdays!
2017 saro vs camera, saro smashes the game!
other 2017 gbb battle is also good too, this year gbb i think is the best gbb!

I wish he showed Penkyx vs Hobbit Semifinal. That was one of the first videos that got me into loopstation. Same with Slizzer loop small final in 2013
Because of Hobbit's first cover, I was introduced to Melody A.M. by Royksopp, probably my favourite album in that genre.
I recognized it quickly, like wait isn't that a Royksopp song? wow. I've thought about covering Royksopp but thought theyre just too complex. impressive!
Man! What a great video. Good back story. When you look back at older videos with no prior knowledge you think that the loopers weren't as good, but then when you look at what they had to work with and they're actually pushing it to the limit being as creative as possible! That's where the magic happens eh

This video puts so much into perspective because I had never gone back to look at those videos, I've only seen post-2017 videos. So Saro vs. Tioneb, for example, at first did not make any sense to me, because I thought, "Saro sounds amazing...and this guy, doesn't really?", and now this video is the missing key - the styles split in 2017. Wow, it all makes so much sense now.
Such a classic! Got me into loopstation beatboxing even more.
Really interesting to rewatch those videos to understand the evolution of styles but also of the machines

Any/all Penkyx 2014-2015. If the RC505 was really as limited back then as you say, then Penkyx was robbed. He was far more advanced on the loopstation than everyone else at the time.
While it was definitely harder for them, I think current loopers have their own struggle. It's hard to be original since devices are still limited and so much has already been done.
It's why the MK II is going to be essential for next gen loopers.
It's also why I think we'll start to see an emphasis on songwriting over technical skill. Like Robin's "Lion"...technicality was nothing special was it was a powerful song and people loved it.
I've always wondered why there was such a big gap between 2016 loop and 2017 loop. Now i know why
I wish I saw this battle way earlier, Faya Braz's second round will remain as one of the most legendary rounds in the history of looping. Such legends!

first loopstation video i saw was from eklips(vin diesel from beatbox). but the first battle was Penkyx vs Ibarra
I remember Beardyman from early 2010's and even before 2010's how he has done looping it's crazy, mainly with his own voice and a couple of effects for manipulation. Even today he is the God :-D

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there a time where you weren't allowed to use special effects on loops and then they changed that rule later?
I can't actually confirm, but I feel like I did hear this a while back. Also, it would make sense, as to why Penkyx never won the event. The guy was years ahead of the competition in 2014-15.
