    Nice to see an honest restoration for a change. Usually they are buried in a hole for a couple of days until miraculously they are discovered by accident ready for a dramatic restoration.

    If you are experienced with an airbrush, try using some Alclad II Chrome. It is pre-thinned and is ready for airbrush use. It is some of the best chrome paint you'll ever buy. It produces a highly realistic finish to any kind of plastic surface. You'll have to use a gloss black base coat for the chrome to look its best. Just a suggestion. :)

      This tonka was first released in 1971 according to tonka. I have 3 of the exact one in video. All 3 are M.I.B. I have over 500 tonkas in my collection all are in mint condition.

    • @Hoonozit
      @Hoonozit 4 роки тому

      @Scott Sounds like you should know better than I. You say "first" released. How many years were they produced and maybe materials changed over the years? I'm not a Tonka pro but I have never seen an "old" Tonka with so much plastic - it is even used for the load bearing under carriage. Maybe it's time for me to adjust my view of old Tonkas.

    • @scottouellette9411
      @scottouellette9411 4 роки тому

      @@Hoonozit Tonka started using clear styrene in windshield in 1961. They used clear styrene buttons for headlights in 1957.They first used red colored styrene in their 1956 fire truucks. Before that they used clear and red colored glass in their headlights and emergency beacons. All of this was manufactured in house along with rubber tires ,hpses and animal figures, decals, bpats and cars in beaitiful Mound Minnesota. I toured the factory while on vacation cross country with my famiy back in 1966. I still have pictures of that trip and factory tour that I took with my Kodak Instamatic camera. I have traveled the world while in the military I bought many Tonkas from people in the mid west region of the U.S. back in the 60's -70's and 80's.

    • @Hoonozit
      @Hoonozit 4 роки тому

      Ok, so you looked it up and discovered it was made in the eighties and it never had a metal load bearing under carriage. Got it, thanks.

  • @johnblanton9969
    @johnblanton9969 4 роки тому +1

    Great job. Since you are into powder coating you might want to use a chrome powder rather than the paint for your bumpers. You will get a more brilliant chrome like appearance as opposed to the semi-matte look from the paint....Also for bodies that might be pitted, use a KL build primer powder that you can wet sand back down before you apply your color powder. One question however, did you not use any kind of compound when buffing the windshield? They do make compounds for plastic, in case you were unaware.

  • @571951rhoehn1
    @571951rhoehn1 4 роки тому

    Super restore! You might want to try clear floor polish on your plastic parts. They will cleanup and shine, no buffing needed.

      Aclaro, para que no se ofenda señor. El vídeo está bien hecho. Se nota la experiencia y profesionalidad al hacer sus trabajos. Disfruto mucho ver estos trabajos. Simplemente digo que le quita atractivo que las imágenes estén sin sonido o música.
      Imagínese las escenas de Rocky Balboa cuando entrena y sin música. Eso es lo que hace la diferencia.
